The rating reportedly pulled was PEGI’s online listing—not every rating for Grand Theft Auto VI. Video Games Chronicle reported that PEGI briefly listed the game as 18 and described violence, drug use, nudity and sexual content. Australia still lists the game R 18+, while the US ESRB rating is M for Mature 17+.
What happened to the GTA 6 rating?
On October 3, 2026, Video Games Chronicle (VGC) reported that PEGI had published an 18 rating for Grand Theft Auto VI on Friday, accompanied by detailed content descriptions, then quickly removed the rating from its website. The removal and timing are VGC’s account; the PEGI page is no longer available to view.

VGC attributed the following descriptions to that removed PEGI listing. They are reported descriptions, not firsthand gameplay observations:
- Violence: Described as bloody and highly realistic, with some weapons capable of detailed decapitation and dismemberment.
- Drugs: Described as frequent and prominent. VGC said the listing described characters taking drugs with others and using illegal drugs from inventory. VGC quoted the listing as saying cocaine could be carried and snorted directly from the player’s hand at any time.
- Sexual content: The listing reportedly described nudity, intercourse scenes and occasional sexual fetishes. VGC also reported that it mentioned paid private dances during which the player could move the character’s hands onto dancers’ breasts and buttocks.
- Animals: VGC said the listing noted that animals can be harmed, though with less detail about injury than for human characters.
Because the underlying listing has been removed, the detailed descriptions are available here through VGC’s reporting, not a currently viewable PEGI entry: VGC’s report.
