First, clarify the direction: are you receiving a stream from YouTube, or sending a GStreamer stream to YouTube? The title does not specify the pipeline, so there is no universal command-line fix. If the audio offset appears or grows at each loop boundary, check timestamps and segment handling before blaming the audio device.
Identify where the mismatch starts
GStreamer schedules buffers using their timestamps, the preceding segment event, and the pipeline clock. A timestamp by itself does not tell you when a buffer should play: GStreamer uses the segment to map buffer timestamps to running time before synchronizing playback. See the project’s synchronization design.
Record the details that determine what to inspect:
- Whether YouTube is the source or destination.
- The output of
gst-launch-1.0 --version, your full launch command or application pipeline, and the Linux distribution. - The source file’s container and audio/video codecs, the loop mechanism, and the pipeline’s sinks.
- The audio backend and relevant logs, plus whether the offset is constant, starts at one boundary, or grows with each iteration.
Without the pipeline, GStreamer version, file, and timestamp trace, a specific property value or pipeline string would be guesswork.
Reproduce the problem without YouTube
- Run the source file through a simple local playback pipeline, if possible, and check whether the mismatch occurs there.
- Compare that result with a minimal pipeline using the same file and local audio and video sinks.
- If local playback is synchronized but the YouTube output is not, isolate the output and its timing path. If local playback already drifts, focus on the source, loop implementation, timestamps, and segments first.
- Check caps negotiation and sink format support on the affected machine. Add a converter only if the negotiated formats require it; sink support can vary by system. See the GStreamer basic concepts documentation.
Inspect timestamps and segment behavior at the loop boundary
Log audio and video buffer PTS, DTS where relevant, and duration around the end of one pass and the beginning of the next. Also inspect each segment’s start, time, and base, and the running-time mapping. Look for timestamps that reset, jump, overlap, or accumulate an offset, and verify whether a new segment event accompanies the next iteration.

- [XLR Mic Input] One XLR microphone input interface is set on the gaming audio mixer, which is great to up your audio quality with your XLR setup. The XLR mixer is a stepping stone to upgrade your live streaming. Audio mixer offered built-in 48V phantom power which opens up more choices for mics. Directly use it with your condenser microphone but do not solve added peripherals. (NOT available for USB mic)
- [Individual Channel Control] Gaming audio mixer for one mic recording with smooth volume slider fader take your streaming recording to a whole new level with full pleasure. Four independent channels set on the DJ mixer give audio volume of the MICROPHONE, LINE IN, HEADPHONE, and LINE OUT channels individual control. Configurable on the PC audio mixer instead of just operating on your game or streaming software.
- [Mute and Monitor] The front mute and monitor buttons but not at the back, make it easier to get the audio interface use. Ability to mute audio, the audio mixer for streaming prevents background noise from damaging your live broadcast. Real-time feedback between speaking and hearing will not distract your attention, which encourage you to speak more confidently. The sturdy-built control button allow you to operate freely and easily during live streaming.
- [Sound Effects] The computer sound mixer supports four pre-recorded customized button that can be recorded and activated at the press of button to post production. 6 kinds of voice changing modes change your output style. 12 auto tune changes the tone of your voice. The podcast mixer being able to add different and fun effects is a huge bonus for your streaming or game voice.
- [Controllable Vibrant RGB] RGB button on the audio mixer DJ meets different live streaming themes. Lights on the video mixer is vibrant but not harsh on your eyes. Flowing or frozen RGB color rotation in a decent pace presents a greatly strong impression as a "light show" to your audience. Even a streaming equipment accessory will not be dull looking when video production.
GStreamer’s synchronization model makes the segment part of the timing calculation. Comparing buffers without their segment context can make a valid timestamp look wrong—or conceal a discontinuity.
Check how the file is looped
Segment seeking in a running pipeline
A segment seek can support seamless looping. When the requested segment finishes, GStreamer posts SEGMENT_DONE, not an EOS message for that segment. Your application must handle that event and issue the next seek correctly. Do not treat segment completion as interchangeable with end of stream. The GstSegment documentation describes segment seeks and looping.

- 6 channel standalone mixer (No USB)
- Featuring studio grade discrete class A D PRE preamps with inverted Darlington circuit: Providing fat, natural sounding bass and smooth, soaring highs
- 3 band EQ and high pass filters give you maximum control and eliminate unwanted noise, resulting in a cleaner mix
- 1 Knob compressors allow easy control: Resulting in livelier guitars, punchier bass lines, a tighter snare and a cleaner vocal sound.
- MG Series mixers feature a rugged, impact resistant, powder coated metal chassis
Compare a segment-seek implementation with a stop-and-restart or application-fed approach by checking timestamp continuity, whether segment events are preserved, what happens to queued or in-flight buffers, and whether playback pauses at the boundary. Flushing and non-flushing seeks affect the pipeline differently; choose based on the architecture and verify the result rather than applying one by default.
Application-fed media with appsrc
If the application pushes media through appsrc, make sure its caps describe the pushed data and that timestamped buffers use coherent time-format segment behavior. If the stream is seekable, handle seek-data. If you enable do-timestamp, account for its running-time stamping and the min-latency requirement.

- 3 band EQ and high pass filters give you maximum control and eliminate unwanted noise, resulting in a cleaner mix
- 1 knob compressors allow easy control resulting in livelier guitars, punchier bass lines, a tighter snare and a cleaner vocal sound
- MG Series mixers feature a rugged, impact resistant, powder coated metal chassis; Equivalent input noise 128 dBu, residual output noise 102 dBu
Respect need-data and enough-data, and account for the internal queue so the producer neither races ahead nor overfills it. For ordinary end-of-stream handling, the appsrc guide explains that an application calls gst_app_src_end_of_stream() after pushing its final byte. That EOS behavior is distinct from a segment seek completing. See Pipeline manipulation.
Use conversion elements only for the problem they solve
videorateadjusts video frame cadence by dropping or duplicating frames. It is relevant when the input frame rate needs correction, not as a general fix for an audio/video timestamp discontinuity.audioconvertandaudioresampleadapt audio format and sample rate when caps negotiation requires it. They do not repair incorrect loop-boundary timestamps or segment handling.- If upstream timestamps and segment mapping are coherent but the output is still wrong, isolate the sink and Linux audio backend.
These elements serve different purposes; GStreamer’s documentation covers videorate, audioconvert, and audioresample.

Troubleshoot by symptom
| Symptom | What to check | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| Audio and video are already out of sync before looping. | Compare the source and a minimal local playback pipeline, including timestamps and sink behavior. | Find the earliest point where their timing diverges before changing the loop. |
| The offset appears once at a loop boundary. | Check the final and first buffers, segment events, and seek handling. | Confirm that the application handles SEGMENT_DONE and issues the intended next seek. |
| The offset grows with every loop. | Compare PTS, segment mapping, and running time across several iterations. | Look for a repeated timestamp reset, jump, overlap, or inconsistent segment rather than adding a fixed delay. |
| Local playback is synchronized but the YouTube output is not. | Compare the output path, sink, and audio backend with the local pipeline. | Isolate the endpoint and sink before changing upstream timing. |
| Caps negotiation fails or a sink cannot accept the media format. | Inspect negotiated caps and the formats supported by that machine’s sink. | Add the appropriate conversion or resampling element only when the format mismatch calls for it. |
| The pipeline uses appsrc and behaves differently between iterations. | Check time-format segments, pushed-buffer timestamps, seek handling, and producer flow control. | Align timestamp and segment behavior, handle seek-data when applicable, and respect need-data/enough-data. |
A fixed audio delay, sync=false, or arbitrary queue-size changes can mask symptoms or alter clocking. Use them only if measurements identify a specific need, not as substitutes for diagnosing a loop-boundary timing problem.
