What is the GoPro LIT HERO?
GoPro announced the LIT HERO on September 23, 2025, as a compact lifestyle camera. The launch price was $269.99; that is the announced price, not a guarantee of current pricing or availability. GoPro describes the camera as an ultra-light option for travel and everyday vlogging. Its 93-gram weight makes it easy to carry, while TechRadar lists dimensions of 56.6 x 48.4 x 29.45 mm. What can it record?
- Video: Up to 4K at 60 frames per second, with 2X slow-motion playback.
- Photos: 12MP still images.
- Light: An integrated LED with three brightness levels, designed to brighten nearby subjects.
The light is useful for a face or object close to the camera in an indoor or evening clip. It does not replace a larger light source, and it does not improve the camera’s underlying low-light image quality. In its review, TechRadar found the small sensor struggled in low light; that is a reviewer assessment, not a laboratory measurement. Is it good for vlogging?
It can be a good fit for uncomplicated, on-the-go vlogging: it is small, records 4K60, has a built-in light for close-range fill and can be mounted on a grip or tripod. Its trade-offs matter if you expect to adjust many settings on camera or film in dim conditions. TechRadar criticized the small touchscreen and limited manual controls, as well as low-light performance. For a casual walk-and-talk or travel clip, the compact body and light are practical; for carefully controlled scenes or night footage, consider a more capable camera and separate lighting.

How mounting and stabilization work
The camera combines a magnetic mounting system with folding GoPro mounting fingers and a standard 1/4-20 tripod thread. That gives you options for a grip, tripod, chest mount or helmet mount; GoPro says the built-in fingers are compatible with its accessories and lists compatibility with more than 35 mounts and accessories. A mount still needs to be appropriate for the activity and securely attached.
For stabilization, GoPro’s workflow uses the Quik app to apply HyperSmooth before export. The camera’s footage should not be assumed to have the same stabilization in every third-party playback or editing workflow. If you need stabilized footage, transfer it through Quik and export the processed clip.

Memory card and basic setup
LIT HERO records to a microSD card. Choose a reputable card compatible with the recording modes you plan to use; capacity and speed requirements depend on those modes. GoPro’s manual covers card insertion and transfer procedures.
- Turn the camera off before inserting or ejecting the microSD card.
- Record your clips, then transfer them with the Quik app or a card reader.
- To use HyperSmooth, apply stabilization in Quik and export the resulting video.

Is the LIT HERO waterproof?
Yes. GoPro’s manual says it is waterproof to 16 feet (5 meters) with the door locked, without an additional housing for that stated depth. It is not waterproof when the door is open or removed; charging with the door open also removes waterproof protection. Check that the door is fully closed before exposure to water, and do not treat the rating as permission for deeper diving. The manual names GoPro Floaty as an optional, separately sold flotation aid if the camera detaches near water.

Look elsewhere if your priorities are better low-light results, extensive manual control, a removable battery or deeper underwater use. The announced $269.99 launch price is a useful point of context, but check the current price and availability in your region before buying.
