Meta reportedly agreed to a six-year Google Cloud contract worth more than $10 billion, giving Google a significant outside customer for its cloud infrastructure. Reuters and The Information reported the headline terms on Aug. 21, 2025, but the companies had not publicly confirmed the value or disclosed the contract itself.

What Meta reportedly agreed to buy

The reported agreement covers Google Cloud servers, storage, networking, and other cloud services, according to Reuters, republished by Investing.com. That describes the broad service categories, not a complete procurement list: the reporting does not identify specific hardware, workloads, or a detailed service schedule.

Reuters placed the agreement in the context of Meta seeking computing capacity for AI tools. The reports do not say how much of the contract is dedicated to AI, or specify whether it involves Google TPUs, Nvidia GPUs, or any particular model. Those details should not be inferred from the AI context.

How much is the deal worth, and how long does it last?

Reuters reported a term of six years and a value of more than $10 billion, citing a source familiar with the matter. The Information independently reported the same headline value and duration on Aug. 21, 2025. These are reported contract terms, not figures published in a public contract or confirmed in a company announcement.

Neither cited report provides a detailed payment schedule or unit pricing. The total therefore should not be treated as a guaranteed annual spend, a margin estimate, or a confirmed schedule for recognizing Google Cloud revenue.

Why it is a win for Google Cloud

At the level supported by the reporting, the deal is a win because it brings a major outside customer to Google Cloud in a period of rising demand for computing capacity. A large multiyear agreement can represent a meaningful customer commitment, but its precise financial contribution cannot be determined from the reported headline value alone.

In later context, Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai’s Q2 2026 remarks described broad Google Cloud demand across products, customers, geographies, and industries, as well as customer expansion and marketplace transaction growth. Those remarks speak to the cloud business generally; they do not confirm the Meta contract or attribute any business results to it.

What remains unconfirmed

Reuters said Google and Meta had not immediately responded to requests for comment. The available reporting does not include the agreement or a named company confirmation of its headline terms. It also does not establish a detailed workload mix, hardware allocation, payment cadence, service-level guarantees, or the deal’s profitability.
