Google announced Pixel Buds Pro 2 firmware version 5.203 on June 2, 2026, but its release notice gives no detailed changelog. The Google Pixel Buds Team says only that it includes “general bug fixes and improvements,” without naming specific fixes or new features. The same update announcement also covers Pixel Buds 2a.

What changed in Pixel Buds Pro 2 update 5.203?

Google’s June 2, 2026 announcement identifies version 5.203 as the latest software release in the official notices cited here. Its full description is: “This update includes general bug fixes and improvements.” Google does not specify which bugs were fixed, what was improved, or whether the release adds features or changes compatibility.

That means there is no more detailed official changelog for 5.203 in the announcement. A particular problem you experience may or may not have been addressed; the notice does not connect the update to any specific issue.

How to check for or start a firmware update

Google says updates can be managed in the Pixel Buds app or in Pixel phone settings, and that automatic updates are available as a toggle. For a manual check or start, the announcement lists this path:

Labels and procedures can change as apps are updated. Google’s June 2026 notice does not state when every device will receive the firmware, so an update not appearing on your earbuds does not establish that your device has a fault.

What the older version 4.467 included

Google’s September 25, 2025 announcement for firmware 4.467 listed several specific additions and improvements. These belong to that earlier release, not to version 5.203.

Google described 4.467 as rolling out gradually. Its post said that automatic updating downloaded the firmware while the earbuds were connected to a Pixel or Android 6.0-or-later device, then installed it the next time the earbuds were placed in their charging case with sufficient charge. It also described starting a manual update in the Pixel Buds app and downloading the latest firmware through the web companion app. Those are instructions from the 2025 announcement; current interfaces and procedures may differ. See the original 4.467 announcement for its historical release details.
