Google Wallet is available in Pakistan. Google’s release notes date the launch to March 11, 2025, while Dawn reported its availability on March 12, 2025. Whether you can use it for contactless payments depends on your exact card and whether your Android phone has NFC.

When did Google Wallet launch in Pakistan?

Google’s release notes say Wallet launched in Pakistan on March 11, 2025. Dawn’s report, published March 12, described the service as available in Pakistan that day. The dates reflect the two sources’ descriptions of the launch; both confirm availability in March 2025. Google’s release notes and Dawn’s launch report provide the dated accounts.

Which banks and cards support Google Wallet in Pakistan?

Google’s Pakistan support page lists the following eligible bank and card-network combinations. The supported card type matters: a bank appearing on the list does not mean every card it issues will work.

Issuer Listed supported cards
Allied Bank Limited Visa debit
Askari Bank Visa debit
Bank Alfalah Limited Visa and Mastercard credit and debit
Easypaisa Digital Bank Visa debit
Faysal Bank Limited Mastercard credit and debit
Habib Bank Limited Visa and Mastercard credit and debit
Habib Metropolitan Bank Limited Visa debit
JazzCash Mastercard debit
JS Bank (Zindigi) Visa debit
Meezan Bank Limited Visa and Mastercard debit
The Bank of Punjab Mastercard credit
United Bank Limited Visa debit; Mastercard prepaid and debit

This list is from Google Wallet Help’s Pakistan supported-payment-methods page, checked October 5, 2026. It can change, and Google notes that the bank decides whether its cards work with Wallet and may restrict some cards. Check the live list and ask your issuer about your specific card if it is not listed or setup fails.

Can I add my debit card to Google Wallet?

Possibly. Debit cards are listed for several issuers, but eligibility depends on the particular issuer, network and card type. For example, the current list includes Visa debit cards for Allied Bank, Askari Bank and Easypaisa, while JazzCash is listed for Mastercard debit. A bank’s participation alone does not establish that every debit card it issues is supported. Compare your exact card with Google’s current Pakistan list above.

Early launch announcements had narrower, dated lists. Visa’s March 13, 2025 announcement named eligible Visa cards from HBL, Bank Alfalah, UBL and Meezan, with other issuers described as coming soon. Mastercard announced on March 18, 2025 that Pakistan Mastercard cardholders could add cards. These announcements document the rollout at those dates; for present eligibility, use Google’s live list. Visa’s announcement and Mastercard’s announcement provide the historical details.

Does Google Wallet need NFC?

For contactless payments, yes. Google states: “To make contactless payments with Google Wallet, you need to have an Android phone with Near Field Communication (NFC).” You also need a supported payment method added to Wallet. A phone without NFC does not meet Google’s stated contactless requirement; NFC by itself does not make an unsupported card eligible. See Google Wallet Help for the requirements.

How do I check whether my card will work?

  1. Identify the card details. Note the issuing bank or provider, whether the card is Visa or Mastercard, and whether it is credit, debit or prepaid.
  2. Check Google’s Pakistan list. Match all those details against the supported combinations on Google’s supported payment methods page.
  3. Confirm your device has NFC. Google requires an Android phone with NFC for contactless payments. Check your phone’s specifications or settings if you are unsure.
  4. Add the card in Wallet. Follow the app’s prompts. If your exact card is missing from Google’s list or is rejected during setup, contact the issuer; Google says the bank determines whether its cards can be used.

What else can Google Wallet do in Pakistan?

Google’s launch notes describe adding cards and passes and paying with the GPay checkout button across Android, Wear OS and Fitbit devices. Wallet can also hold digital items such as loyalty cards and boarding passes. These capabilities do not establish that every payment method, merchant, device form factor or Google Pay feature is available to every user in Pakistan. Card acceptance and device support may vary; check the relevant issuer and service details for the feature you intend to use.
