Their published specifications point to capable, high-refresh-rate screens, but they do not establish a universal winner. The right choice depends on the exact model tier, the size and sharpness you want, and how comfortable the phone feels in your hand.
How the base Pixel 10 and Galaxy S25 screens compare
The base models are the closest like-for-like comparison for someone seeking a compact flagship. The figures below are manufacturer specifications, not results from a matched independent test.
| Phone | Screen size and type | Resolution and density | Refresh rate | Published brightness |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Google Pixel 10 | 6.3-inch OLED | 1080 × 2424; 422 ppi | Up to 120 Hz, according to Google’s comparison material | Up to 2,000 nits HDR and 3,000 nits peak, according to Google |
| Samsung Galaxy S25 | 6.2-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X | FHD+; 2340 × 1080 in Samsung’s US 2025 series sheet | Up to 120 Hz | 2,600 nits in Samsung’s US 2025 series sheet |
Google’s specifications are on its Pixel 10 specs page. Samsung lists the S25’s size, display type, and maximum refresh rate on its Canadian specifications page; the US figures are in its 2025 S25 series specification sheet.
Which screen size will suit you?
Choose between the base models for a smaller flagship
A tenth of an inch on the diagonal does not by itself tell you which phone is easier to hold. Body dimensions, weight, bezel shape, and your grip also matter. If one-handed use is a priority, handle both models in person if possible rather than choosing on the screen diagonal alone.

Move up a tier for more viewing space
The comparison changes with the larger models. Google lists the Pixel 10 Pro with a 6.3-inch LTPO OLED at 1344 × 2992 and 486 ppi; its family specifications give up to 2,200 nits HDR and 3,300 nits peak. Samsung’s 2025 US sheet lists the Galaxy S25 Ultra with a 6.9-inch QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, adaptive refresh up to 120 Hz, and 2,600 nits brightness. See Google’s Pixel hardware specifications and Samsung’s S25 series sheet.
The larger Ultra offers substantially more screen area than the base S25, while the Pixel 10 Pro specification cited here has the same listed diagonal as the base Pixel 10 but higher resolution and density. More area can help with reading and video; it can also make a phone less comfortable to handle. Google describes the size-versus-handling tradeoff in its Pixel phone comparison.

How to interpret sharpness, refresh rate, and brightness
Resolution and pixel density
The Pixel 10’s listed 422 ppi and the Pixel 10 Pro’s 486 ppi provide explicit density figures. Samsung describes the base S25 resolution as FHD+ and supplies 2340 × 1080 in its US series sheet; the Ultra is listed as QHD+. These specifications do not alone prove which display will look sharper to you. Viewing distance, text size, and the content you watch all affect what you notice.
Refresh rate
Both base-model specifications indicate refresh rates up to 120 Hz. Samsung specifies adaptive 120 Hz refresh for the S25 Ultra. A maximum refresh figure does not describe every operating condition or establish the minimum refresh rate; it is best treated as a ceiling, not a promise that the screen runs at that rate at all times.
Rank #3
- Google Pixel 10 Pro is the ultimate Pixel experience, featuring advanced AI with Gemini, unbelievable camera quality, impeccable design in two sizes, and the next-gen Google Tensor G5 chip[1]
- Unlocked Android phone gives you the flexibility to change carriers and choose your own data plan[2]; it works - Google Fi, Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, and other major carriers
- Get a head start on syncing your data before it even arrives: After you purchase your new Pixel, look for an email that explains how to transfer your photos, videos, passwords, and more in just a few quick steps[11]
- Pixel’s pro camera system makes everything look amazing, even in low light; capture more of the scene with advanced Google AI models, and bring out incredible details with 100x Pro Res Zoom, stunning 50 MP images, and super steady videos in 8K[10]
- Pixel 10 Pro is built with durable aluminum and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 for scratch and drop resistance; the 6.3-inch Super Actua display with 3,300-nit peak brightness is easy on the eyes, even in direct sunlight[3,13,18]
Brightness
Google separates its Pixel 10 brightness claims into HDR and peak figures. Samsung’s cited S25 sheet gives a brightness figure for the series. Because these are manufacturer ratings and the sources do not establish a shared measurement procedure, the figures should not be used as a direct everyday-brightness ranking. They are not independent measurements under a common test.

- Pick the base Pixel 10 or Galaxy S25 if you want a relatively compact flagship screen; compare grip and comfort, because their listed diagonals are close.
- Consider the Pixel 10 Pro if higher listed resolution and pixel density matter while the cited diagonal remains 6.3 inches.
- Consider the Galaxy S25 Ultra if a much larger 6.9-inch display and QHD+ resolution are the priority, and you are comfortable with a larger handset.
- Check your exact regional model before buying. The figures cited here come from Google specifications, Samsung Canada specifications, and Samsung’s US 2025 sheet; configurations and availability may differ by market.
Settle a close decision by checking current local pricing and trying the exact models you are considering. Published specifications are useful for narrowing the choice, but they cannot determine personal comfort or establish a screen-quality winner by themselves.
