ANC, transparency, and Adaptive Audio
- ANC uses the earbuds’ noise-cancellation system to reduce surrounding sound while you listen.
- Transparency mode lets more of the surrounding sound through, so you can hear what is happening around you without removing the buds.
- Adaptive Audio is a software feature Google described as adjusting the earbuds to your surroundings. It is distinct from choosing ANC or transparency directly. Google announced Adaptive Audio and other features in its August 20, 2025 Pixel Buds Pro 2 update; availability can depend on software rollout.
Android Central’s October 7, 2026 report also describes newer firmware features rolling out. Software features can vary with updates and availability, so check the device and current software notes rather than assuming every feature is active on every pair at purchase.

- Conversation Detection pauses your music and switches your earbuds to Transparency mode when you start talking, so you don’t have to take them out
- Pixel Buds Pro 2 have large 11mm drivers for powerful bass and a new high-frequency chamber for smooth treble
Water resistance
Google rates the earbuds IP54 and the case IPX4; these ratings do not mean either is waterproof. Google’s support information warns that water resistance can decline with wear. See Google Pixel Buds specifications and support guidance.
Compatibility and feature requirements
The buds can pair over Bluetooth 4.0 or newer with compatible devices, including iPhones, laptops, tablets, and Android phones. Google says full access to features requires a Google Account, an internet connection, and a companion phone running Android 6.0 or newer. Pairing with an iOS device is therefore not the same as getting every Google-dependent feature. Check Google’s Pixel Buds support page for requirements.

Is this deal worth considering?
The reported Amazon price is worth checking if you want Google’s ANC earbuds and can buy at or near $170.05. Compare the live price with Google Store’s offer and other current listings before deciding; the two prices above were observed on different dates and are not a promise of current availability. Fit and comfort are personal, and the cited information does not establish comparative sound quality or noise-cancellation performance against other earbuds.
