That makes the more useful question less about headline price and more about which ecosystem and features suit you: choose Pixel 11 if you prefer Android, Google services and Gemini; choose iPhone 17 if you prefer iOS or want Apple’s documented Dolby Vision video features. Official specifications do not establish a winner for photo quality, sustained speed or real-world battery life.
Pixel 11 or iPhone 17: which should you buy?
Start with the phone platform you want to use every day. Moving between Android and iOS can mean changing how you handle apps, services and familiar workflows. If you are already invested in one platform, that may matter more than a close match in screen size or starting price.
- Choose Pixel 11 if you want Google’s Pixel experience, Gemini features and the update commitment Google publishes for this model.
- Choose iPhone 17 if you want iOS, use Apple’s ecosystem, or value its documented 4K Dolby Vision video recording.
- Compare local offers before buying. The $899 figures are US starting prices, not a guarantee of matching storage, discounts, carrier terms or prices in other countries.

How do their displays compare?
Both phones have a 6.3-inch OLED display with a refresh rate that reaches 120 Hz. The iPhone 17 has a higher listed resolution and an Always-On display; Google lists a 1080 × 2424 resolution for Pixel 11.

Both manufacturers list peak brightness up to 3,000 nits, but describe the measurement differently: Google lists peak brightness, while Apple specifies outdoor peak brightness. Which phone has the better camera?
The published hardware does not settle which phone takes better photos. Pixel 11 lists a 50MP wide camera and a 48MP ultrawide camera; iPhone 17 lists 48MP Fusion main and ultrawide cameras, with an optical-quality 2× option. Megapixel counts and camera names describe hardware, not how images compare across lighting, subjects or processing.

For video, Apple documents Dolby Vision recording up to 4K at 60 frames per second, along with Cinematic and Action modes. The cited information does not establish equivalent head-to-head video results or a camera-quality winner. If camera performance is decisive, compare independent tests that use the same scenes and conditions rather than relying on the specifications alone. Which lasts longer on a charge?
The manufacturers use different measures, so their published battery figures do not identify a real-world endurance winner. Google lists Pixel 11’s typical battery capacity as 4,985 mAh and claims 30+ hours of battery life. Apple claims up to 30 hours of video playback for iPhone 17. Battery capacity and a general battery-life claim are not directly comparable to a video-playback figure.

For charging, Google lists up to 55% in about 30 minutes when Pixel 11 is connected to a 30W USB-C PPS charger or higher. Its wireless charging specification is Qi2.2 up to 25W. Apple lists MagSafe and Qi2 wireless charging up to 25W. Check the manufacturers’ current specifications and the charger’s protocol and power rating before buying an accessory; a matching USB-C connector alone does not establish fast-charging compatibility. The cited specifications do not establish current box contents, so check what is included with the exact regional model.
What software, AI and update support do they offer?
Pixel 11 runs Google’s Pixel software and uses Tensor G6; Google’s announcement also describes Gemini Nano. Google specifies seven years of OS, security and Pixel Drop updates for Pixel 11. iPhone 17 runs iOS, uses Apple’s A19 chip and lists Apple Intelligence. Apple’s cited specification page does not provide a matching duration promise, so these sources do not support a direct comparison of update-policy length.

Feature availability and behavior for Gemini and Apple Intelligence can vary by language, region, account and software version. Check the feature you care about on the manufacturer’s current regional information before treating it as available to you. Apple lists iPhone 17 at 177 g, with a Ceramic Shield 2 front and an IP68 rating under IEC 60529: up to 6 m for 30 minutes. Google lists Pixel 11 at 197 g and specifies Gorilla Glass Victus 2. These manufacturer-listed physical details are useful for choosing a size and feel, but an ingress-protection rating should not be read as a promise against damage in every water or dust exposure.
