The Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold makes a strong case for a foldable that still feels like a regular phone when closed: it has a 6.4-inch cover screen, a redesigned gearless hinge, IP68 water and dust resistance, and magnetic Qi2 charging. Its 8-inch inner display and long battery result in one independent test are compelling, but the 258 g body, premium launch price, camera limitations, and uneven fold-specific software mean it is not an automatic upgrade over a conventional Pixel—or Samsung’s thinner Galaxy Z Fold 7.
What the Pixel 10 Pro Fold offers
Google’s specifications list a 6.4-inch outer display and an 8-inch inner display, powered by Tensor G5 with 16 GB of RAM. Review coverage lists 256 GB, 512 GB, and 1 TB storage configurations; availability can vary by region. The rear camera system comprises a 48 MP wide camera, a 10.5 MP ultrawide camera, and a 10.8 MP 5x telephoto camera, with Super Res Zoom up to 20x. Google’s specifications also list a 5,015 mAh battery, 30 W wired charging, magnetic Qi2 wireless charging, and seven years of OS, security, and Pixel Drop updates. Check the local Google Store listing for the configuration and features sold in your region.
Does the familiar foldable design feel meaningfully improved?
The cover screen is a central part of the appeal: at 6.4 inches, it gives the closed phone a conventional smartphone-like format, rather than making every task feel like a compromise before unfolding. Tom’s Guide described it as wider-feeling than Samsung’s cover display, though that is the publication’s assessment, not a measurement of comfort for every hand or use.
Google says it developed a gearless hinge to improve reliability and make better use of internal space. The company says the redesign enabled a larger display, a bigger battery, and a thinner profile, and calls the phone its most durable foldable at launch. Those are manufacturer claims about design intent; they do not establish how long the hinge will last in everyday use. Android Central, reviewing the phone in October 2025, considered its overall design nearly identical to the previous generation, while identifying the IP68 rating and Pixelsnap charging as notable changes. Google’s hinge explanation provides the engineering rationale.
IP68 is protection, not permission to be careless
Google lists an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance. That is a meaningful specification for a foldable, but it does not make the phone indestructible or guarantee protection in every exposure or after wear and damage. Treat the rating as resistance under defined conditions, not as a reason to deliberately submerge or expose the phone to dust.
What Qi2 charging means here
The phone supports magnetic Qi2 wireless charging. Google’s Pixelsnap accessories are designed around that magnetic connection, and a compatible Qi2 charger or stand is the relevant accessory category. Verify a charger’s compatibility with the Pixel 10 Pro Fold before buying: Qi2 branding alone does not establish identical fit or charging performance across accessories.

- Unfold extraordinary with Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold; with Pixel’s largest screen and Gemini, Google’s most advanced AI, it’s made for multitasking and entertainment[1]
- Unlocked Android phone gives you the flexibility to change carriers and choose your own data plan[2]; it works with Google Fi, Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, and other major carriers
- Get a head start on syncing your data before it even arrives: After you purchase your new Pixel, look for an email that explains how to transfer your photos, videos, passwords, and more in just a few quick steps[14]
- The gearless, high-strength hinge makes it durable enough to handle about 10 years of folding[3]; plus, Pixel 10 Pro Fold is built with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 and has an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance[4]
- The brighter-than-ever 8-inch Super Actua Flex display is Pixel’s largest screen yet[12]; and you can use Split Screen to plan a trip, drag and drop images, and open multiple apps at once[5]
How do the displays, battery, and cameras perform?
Bright displays, with a test-specific advantage
Tom’s Guide measured peak brightness of 2,566 nits on the Pixel’s inner display and 2,245 nits on the Galaxy Z Fold 7 in its own 2025 display testing. Those figures are useful for comparing the two devices under that publication’s method, not a guarantee of brightness in every setting. The same review praised the Pixel’s displays.
Battery life: a strong result in one controlled comparison
In Tom’s Guide’s 2025 5G web-surfing battery test, the Pixel 10 Pro Fold lasted 12 hours 16 minutes and the Galaxy Z Fold 7 lasted 10 hours 44 minutes. This is one publication’s result under its test conditions; screen settings, signal, apps, and individual use affect real-world battery life. It supports the Pixel as a strong option for endurance, but it cannot predict how long a particular owner’s phone will last between charges.

Three useful rear cameras, but not a complete camera verdict
The 5x telephoto adds reach alongside the wide and ultrawide cameras, and Google lists Super Res Zoom up to 20x. Tom’s Guide counted 5x optical zoom among the Pixel’s advantages over the Samsung. However, TechRadar criticized the Pixel’s camera experience and reported shutter pauses when multiple camera features were enabled. That review’s account is a reviewer observation, not proof that every camera use will lag. If dependable, fast capture or camera versatility is your top priority, weigh that criticism against the hardware specifications rather than assuming the foldable’s camera array matches the best conventional camera phones.
How does it compare with the Galaxy Z Fold 7?
The choice is less about a universal winner than the trade-off you notice most: the Pixel emphasizes its broader-feeling cover screen, dust protection, and battery result in Tom’s Guide’s test; Samsung is thinner and lighter according to that review. Both have large inner displays, but the Pixel’s 8-inch screen is specified by Google.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What are the main drawbacks?
- Bulk: At 258 g in TechRadar’s review, the Pixel is not a light phone. Tom’s Guide also found it thicker and heavier than the Galaxy Z Fold 7.
- Price and value: TechRadar judged its premium launch pricing difficult to justify for someone who does not specifically need a foldable. The 2025 launch price is not a current price quote.
- Software polish: TechRadar reported software bugs and said the phone lacked enough fold-specific features. Smooth app switching between displays was a strength in that reviewer’s experience, so the criticism is not that multitasking cannot work.
- Camera responsiveness: TechRadar reported camera lag, including shutter pauses with multiple features enabled. That is a review observation and should be weighed alongside the camera specifications.
- Performance context: Android Central’s October 2025 review said Google planned additional GPU driver updates after performance reports. Software can change, and that report alone does not establish a current, universal performance problem.
Is the Pixel 10 Pro Fold worth buying?
It is worth considering if you want a Pixel-style experience in a foldable, expect to use the cover and inner displays regularly, value IP68 protection and magnetic Qi2, and are willing to accept extra bulk for the format. Its large screens, 5x telephoto, long battery result in Tom’s Guide’s test, and Google’s seven-year update commitment make a substantial package.

Choose more cautiously if you mainly want the lightest foldable, the best value for the money, or the most polished fold-specific software and camera response. The Galaxy Z Fold 7 is the more natural alternative if thinness and lower weight matter most; the Pixel’s case is strongest when its cover-screen feel, dust protection, charging ecosystem, or Google software are higher priorities. Compare live prices and local configurations before purchase. The Pixel was announced in August 2025 and released October 9, 2025, according to Android Central; TechRadar’s launch price should not be mistaken for current availability or pricing. Android Central’s review covers its release context.
