Completing all five games unlocked Dino Pal, a virtual Chrome Dino pet. The event took place May 19–20, 2026, so the countdown framing belongs to the launch period, not an upcoming event.
What was Google’s “Make Build Unlock” puzzle?
Google introduced the experience as an interactive way to build anticipation for I/O 2026. It combined five short games with a date reveal and a hidden bonus game. Google described it as an experience for people ranging from casual players to developers, rather than a physical puzzle product.
Google I/O 2026 was held May 19–20 at Shoreline Amphitheatre in Mountain View, California, and was also available online. Google’s event announcement gives the event details; its dates have now passed.
How did the five games work?
The games used different mechanics. Google’s descriptions explain where Gemini contributed to gameplay, while other design details came from the team’s account of building the experience. These are Google’s reported mechanics, not results of an independent test.

Google’s development account provides further detail on the mechanics and tools used to make the games.
How did players unlock Dino Pal?
Finishing all five games unlocked Dino Pal, a virtual pet based on Chrome’s familiar dinosaur. Google said Gemini assigned Dino Pal personality traits that adapted to how someone played. The reward described by Google was digital; the announcement did not describe a physical toy or collectible.

How did Google use Gemini, AI Studio and Antigravity?
Google described Gemini as part of selected design and play features: generating some Nonogram boards and Word Wheel levels, and contributing to the AI caddy’s gameplay commentary. Supersonic Bot’s microphone-volume controls offered another interactive mechanic, but Google’s description does not identify that feature as Gemini-powered.
For development, Google said its team first prototyped game ideas in Google AI Studio and later moved to Google Antigravity as the builds grew more complex. Google also made the games available in AI Studio for developers to inspect code, experiment with prompts and modify game logic. That is a description of the team’s workflow, not a measured comparison of the two tools.
Can developers still explore or remix the games?
Google’s launch materials invited developers to explore and remix the games in AI Studio. The official puzzle pages also described playing builds toward a bonus and date reveal, but those pages are dynamic; their wording should not be read as evidence of a current, upcoming countdown. Google’s March 2026 account of the project remains the clearest description of the original experience and remix invitation.
