What is GoldenEye 007 Plus?
GoldenEye 007 Plus is a fan-made modification built on decompiled source from the Nintendo 64 game GoldenEye 007. The project repository describes a broader effort focused on performance and stability, campaign co-op, multiplayer additions, quality-of-life changes and preservation-minded enhancements, alongside experimental map-making work.
The project page’s status snapshot covers internal checkpoint V90 through September 28, 2026. That is a dated development checkpoint, not a retail release number or a guarantee that all listed features are complete. The repository says some development areas remain under stress testing.
Can you play GoldenEye 007 in third person?
Yes, GoldenEye 007 Plus is developing a third-person option with an adjustable camera positioned over Bond’s shoulder. Time Extension’s September 23, 2026 report described a video uploaded by Graslu00 that showed the view in Silo, Bunker I and Surface I. The clip ran on Analogue 3D software, but the project repository does not identify Analogue 3D as a requirement.

The footage is a demonstration, not a comprehensive compatibility or performance test. Time Extension also noted that Bond’s crouch-walk animation looked unfinished, with his knees appearing to slide along the ground. That is an observation from the clip, not evidence that every version or level behaves the same way.
What does the GoldenEye 007 Plus mod change?
The third-person camera is one part of a wider set of changes. The project repository’s September 28 snapshot lists the following work; inclusion on the list should not be read as confirmation that each feature is finished in a downloadable build.

The repository provides build instructions, including an expected NTSC-U ROM filename and a SHA-1 verification step. Those details are part of its build process; the available information does not establish one universal, ready-to-run installation path for every computer or console. Owning a cartridge does not, by itself, install or run the mod.
What do you need to build or play the mod?
Start with the repository’s own instructions for the specific build and platform you intend to use. The project is source material rather than a standalone copy of GoldenEye 007, and some build or extraction steps require legally obtained retail game data. Do not assume that the same setup works across all computers, emulators or hardware.

If you use Project64 with GLideN64 and encounter a black-world symptom, the project page distinguishes emulator or plugin behavior from regressions in the game code. It identifies “Force depth buffer clear = ON” as a useful diagnostic to try, not a universal required setting. When reporting a problem, include the emulator and plugin versions and relevant settings so others can assess the configuration.
