Gigabyte also released a distinct WaterForce WB version: a water-block card for builders who already have, or plan to install, a custom loop.
What is the AORUS RTX 4070 Ti WaterForce?
Gigabyte announced two liquid-cooled AORUS RTX 4070 Ti models in July 2023: the AORUS GeForce RTX 4070 Ti XTREME WATERFORCE 12G and the AORUS GeForce RTX 4070 Ti XTREME WATERFORCE WB 12G. The first is an all-in-one (AIO) cooler attached to the card; the second is a water-block card designed to connect to a custom loop. HotHardware had reported the planned pair on June 21, 2023, before Gigabyte’s launch announcement.
The AIO card’s GPU, VRAM and MOSFET are actively cooled by the pre-assembled pump and water pipe. Its radiator measures 240 mm and uses two 120 mm ARGB fans. That arrangement avoids assembling a custom loop, but the PC case still needs room and compatible mounting space for the radiator.
WaterForce vs. WaterForce WB: which one fits your PC?
| Consideration | XTREME WATERFORCE 12G (AIO) | XTREME WATERFORCE WB 12G |
|---|---|---|
| Cooling hardware | Pre-assembled pump, tubing and 240 mm radiator with two 120 mm ARGB fans. | Water block only; connect it to a compatible custom liquid-cooling loop. |
| Best suited to | Buyers who want liquid cooling without building a custom loop. | Builders who already have, or intend to build, a custom loop. |
| Installation | Install the card and mount the radiator; no separate loop assembly is needed. | Integrate the card’s block into the loop, including the loop’s tubing and cooling hardware. |
| Case planning | Allow for the card and a 240 mm radiator with two fans. | HotHardware described the WB card as slimmer and noted its inlet and outlet ports; plan for the loop and its fittings. |
| Maintenance and leak responsibility | Gigabyte says the pump and water pipe are pre-assembled, allowing installation without users assembling those connections. The cited product information does not establish a maintenance schedule or warranty coverage for leaks. | Requires the builder to integrate and maintain a custom loop. The cited product information does not specify maintenance intervals or leak coverage. |
If you do not own a custom loop, the AIO model is the straightforward choice, provided your case can accommodate its radiator. Choose the WB only if you are prepared to supply and install the rest of the loop; it is not an alternate name for the AIO model.
