If Ghostwire: Tokyo will not start from GOG, work through the fixes in this order: use GOG GALAXY’s Manage installation > Verify / Repair, confirm that your graphics hardware and drivers are supported, isolate overlays, run GWT.exe with administrator rights, check antivirus blocking and installed mods, then repair DirectX. A UE4 Snowfall Fatal Error or a repeatable crash should be escalated with the crash dump and system reports Bethesda requests.
The symptom matters. A button that does nothing, a crash after the game window appears, an antivirus-related error, a missing-file warning, and a UE4 fatal error do not have the same best first step. The guide below separates those cases and notes which advice is official support guidance versus a practical diagnostic inference.
Find the failure stage first
Before changing several settings at once, identify the last thing that happens. This prevents an overlay test from hiding a damaged installation or a driver problem from being mistaken for a launcher problem.

1. Repair the GOG installation
GOG’s platform-specific first action for a qualifying crash is its built-in repair process. It checks the installed data against the GOG release and downloads replacements when needed.

- Open GOG GALAXY and select Ghostwire: Tokyo in your library.
- Open the game’s installation management menu.
- Choose Manage installation > Verify / Repair.
- Allow the check and any replacement downloads to finish completely.
- Restart GOG GALAXY and launch the game again before changing another variable.
Verification can report that one or more files failed to verify. Bethesda notes that “one or more files may fail to verify, in most cases this is normal.” The useful test is whether the repair completes and the game then launches, not whether every file is reported as identical on the first pass.
If repair does not change the symptom, attach a GOG system report or a DXDiag report to your support ticket. Do not delete random files from the installation directory: doing so can turn a repairable mismatch into a larger reinstall.
2. Confirm hardware and driver support
Bethesda’s crash guidance says to confirm the game’s minimum requirements, notes that integrated Intel HD graphics are unsupported, and recommends current AMD or NVIDIA graphics drivers. A machine can meet a processor or memory requirement and still fail because its graphics adapter is unsupported or its driver is too old.

Check the graphics adapter Windows is actually using
- Open Windows Settings > System > Display > Advanced display to see the active display adapter and driver information.
- On a laptop with both integrated and discrete graphics, use the vendor’s control panel or Windows graphics settings to assign Ghostwire: Tokyo to the supported high-performance adapter.
- If the adapter is an integrated Intel HD model, treat that as a support limitation rather than a missing-file problem; Bethesda does not support those graphics devices for this game.
Update the graphics driver
Install a current driver directly from the graphics hardware manufacturer for an AMD or NVIDIA card. Reboot after installation, then test the game before enabling overlays or custom texture packs. If the crash began immediately after a driver change, record that timing for support rather than repeatedly installing unrelated drivers.
Reduce demanding settings
If the game reaches its menu but crashes when entering a save or a demanding scene, lower Nightmare or Ultra settings first. Those settings are specifically called out in Bethesda’s crash guidance. Make one change, test, and keep the lower setting only if it removes the crash; this preserves a clear cause-and-effect record.

3. Isolate overlays without confusing official guidance
Bethesda’s published wording concerns Steam: “If you are experiencing low frame rates or performance issues, disable the Steam overlay in Steam settings before launching the game.” That is an official diagnostic for the Steam overlay, not a documented Ghostwire-specific GOG GALAXY overlay fix.
For a GOG installation, disabling overlays is therefore a diagnostic inference. An overlay injects code into a running game, so test the possible injectors individually rather than switching everything off and losing the ability to identify the conflict.

- Close the game.
- Disable the GOG GALAXY overlay, if it is enabled for the title, and launch once.
- If the symptom is unchanged, restore that setting and disable Xbox Game Bar for one test.
- Restore it, then test the Discord overlay or the overlay supplied by your GPU software, one at a time.
- Record which setting was changed and whether the failure moved from “nothing happens” to a visible crash or disappeared.
Do not describe a successful GOG overlay test as an official Bethesda fix. It is useful evidence that an injected layer may be involved, and it can guide a later support ticket.
4. Run the game executable with administrator rights
Bethesda provides a specific administrator-permission procedure for GWT.exe. The installation folder varies by user and by GOG library location, so use GOG’s installation management option to open the folder rather than assuming a drive or directory.
- In GOG GALAXY, open the game’s installation folder.
- Locate
GWT.exe. - Right-click it and choose Properties.
- Open the Compatibility tab.
- Enable Run this program as an administrator, then click OK.
- Restart GOG GALAXY and try launching again.
If the executable works directly but the launcher button still fails, tell support that the failure differs between the launcher and the standalone executable. That distinction is more useful than simply reporting that the game “doesn’t launch.”

5. Check antivirus blocking and Error 3.0000065432
For Error 3.0000065432, Bethesda states: “This error is often caused by an anti-virus blocking a program on your computer.” Security software can block either the game executable or the launcher, especially after an update changes a file signature.

- Open your antivirus control panel and review its quarantine, blocked-app, and controlled-folder-access records.
- Add the Ghostwire: Tokyo executable and the GOG launcher to the product’s exclusions or allowed-app list, using the actual installation paths on your PC.
- Run both the launcher and the game with administrator rights for the next test.
- Remove custom textures and mods temporarily. A modified file can trigger the same loading failure as a damaged installation.
- Run Manage installation > Verify / Repair again after the files are back to the unmodified state.
Bethesda specifically names F-Secure as having caused this error in some cases. Do not permanently weaken real-time protection or create broad exclusions for an entire drive; use the narrowest game and launcher paths necessary, and restore normal protection after the test if it does not identify the cause.
6. Repair DirectX and platform components
Bethesda says missing DirectX files can affect some users and that reinstalling the DirectX runtime may resolve the problem. This is separate from updating the graphics driver: a current driver does not guarantee that every legacy runtime component the game expects is present.
- Use Microsoft’s official DirectX runtime installer for your Windows installation.
- Allow the installer to restore missing components and restart Windows if requested.
- Launch the game with mods and overlays still disabled so the runtime test remains isolated.
If the DirectX repair does not help and the PC uses an AMD Ryzen processor, Bethesda recommends updating the motherboard BIOS and AMD chipset drivers from the motherboard manufacturer or AMD. Follow the board maker’s instructions exactly, keep the system on stable power during a BIOS update, and record the BIOS and chipset versions in your support notes.
7. Remove mods and custom textures before every clean test
Custom textures and other modifications alter files that the launcher expects to load. Bethesda includes removing custom textures or mods in the response for Error 3.0000065432, and the same clean-install principle is useful when a crash began after adding or updating a modification.

- Close GOG GALAXY and the game.
- Move mod and custom-texture files to a separate temporary folder outside the game directory; do not overwrite the originals.
- Run Verify / Repair in GOG GALAXY.
- Launch the unmodified game once.
- If it works, reintroduce modifications one at a time and test after each change.
A clean launch does not prove which individual mod was responsible, but it establishes that the base GOG installation can run. Keep that result when deciding whether to contact the mod author or Bethesda.

“Snowfall” appears in the crash-report location Bethesda specifies for this title. A UE4 Snowfall Fatal Error is therefore a reason to preserve evidence, not a reason to delete the entire AppData folder or guess at a particular setting.
Collect the files Bethesda requests
After the crash, preserve these items before launching repeatedly:
- A DxDiag report.
- An MSInfo report.
C:Users[YOUR_USER_NAME]AppDataLocalSnowfallSavedCrashescrash.dmp.- The matching
CrashContext.runtime-xmlfile in that crash folder. - A description of exactly when the crash occurs: immediately after clicking Play, while loading, at the main menu, when opening a save, or during a particular scene.
- Whether the problem began after the Spider’s Thread update.
Attach the reports to a Bethesda support request and include the game’s GOG edition and the troubleshooting steps already completed. If Windows hides the AppData folder, enable hidden items in File Explorer; do not replace the crash file with a screenshot.
Why timing and update history matter
A crash that started immediately after an update has a different investigation path from one that has existed since installation. Bethesda asks specifically whether the failure began after the Spider’s Thread update, so answer that question directly even if you are unsure whether the update is responsible.

Use the symptom to choose the next branch

Current GOG-release context
A PC Gamer report dated 17 October 2026 says the current GOG release joined GOG’s Preservation Program and removed Bethesda.NET integration. That means older guides telling GOG players to sign in through Bethesda.NET may describe a previous release path. Do not treat a missing Bethesda.NET login prompt as a launch failure, and do not add old account-linking steps to a current GOG troubleshooting checklist unless the current launcher explicitly requests them.
The same report says the game has reached more than 6 million players. That figure is a reported lifetime player count, not a guarantee that every PC configuration meets the game’s graphics requirements or that every installation uses the same launcher settings.
Prepare a support ticket that can be acted on
When the ordered checks do not resolve the launch failure, send a compact record rather than a generic “crashes on startup” message. Include:

crash.dmp,CrashContext.runtime-xml, crash timing, and Spider’s Thread update history.
This information lets support distinguish an installation repair, a permissions or security block, unsupported graphics hardware, an injected overlay, a runtime problem, and a reproducible engine crash without asking you to repeat the same basic checks.
