For a clearer, less frustrating run through Ghost of Yōtei’s downloadable content, start with Enhanced Combat Cues and Projectile Indicator turned on. Add Aim Assist if ranged attacks feel difficult to place, switch on Dark Flashes for Blind Bombs if bright effects are uncomfortable, and use the new high-contrast option when enemies or environmental details blend into the scene. Keep guidance restrained while exploring so the landscape remains readable.
These recommendations follow Sony’s descriptions of the individual options and its announcements for patch v2.0. They explain what each setting is intended to do; they are not claims of independent performance testing or frame-rate gains.

What changes with the DLC and patch v2.0
The Complete Edition adds two major activities: Echoes of Sekigahara, a new story expansion, and Most Wanted, a single-player combat-survival mode. Sony scheduled both for patch v2.0 on October 1, 2026 globally, with October 2 in some territories. Check your region’s release timing if the content does not appear immediately.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minutePatch v2.0 also adds Beauty of Yōtei, new Watanabe Mode tracks that can be enabled throughout the game, the ability to keep one armor set’s appearance while using another set’s statistics, and a new high-contrast accessibility option. The appearance/statistics separation is useful when you want a familiar silhouette without giving up the protection or bonuses of a different set, but it does not change the combat-cue settings described below.
#1 Best Overall
- Stunning graphics and gameplay, explore the wild and striking lands around Mount Yotei on foot or horseback. Travel picturesque parts of northern Japan through grasslands, snowy ridges, fields of wildflowers, and more.
- Discover renegade combat, engage in lawless katana combat and battles with adversaires. Train with various sensei as you find and learn to use each new weapon.
- An unconventional story and journey, take in the cultural beauty of Japan, bathe in an onsen, visit shrines to pray, try Sumi-e painting, and so much more.
- Choose your weapon, battle Atsu's opponents as you see fit, with levelled-up dual katanas, odachi, kusarigama and other new weapons.
The recommended baseline
Use this starting point before entering either DLC activity. It improves the information available during crowded fights while leaving exploration relatively uncluttered.
| Setting | Baseline | Why to use it | When to change it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Enhanced Combat Cues | On | Makes glint attack visuals larger, giving parries and dodges a more readable warning. | Turn it off only if the enlarged cues feel distracting or you deliberately want the least assistance. |
| Projectile Indicator | On | Adds a visual warning for ranged attacks arriving from offscreen, reducing surprise hits in group fights. | Disable it for a more demanding, information-limited challenge. |
| Aim Assist | Optional | Auto-targets nearby enemies to improve ranged accuracy. | Use it when bow or other ranged targeting feels imprecise; leave it off for fully manual aim. |
| Dark Flashes for Blind Bombs | Personal preference | Replaces the bright Blind Bomb flash with a dark-screen effect. | Enable it when repeated bright flashes cause discomfort; keep the standard flash if the darker effect is harder for you to read. |
| High contrast | As needed | Provides stronger visual separation for characters and scene elements. | Enable it when enemies, cues, or terrain disappear into the background. |
The baseline is not a difficulty setting. It changes how much information reaches you and how that information is displayed. Enemy behavior, damage and encounter design are not described as changing when these options are enabled.
Make enemy attacks easier to read
Enhanced Combat Cues
Enhanced Combat Cues enlarges the glint visuals that signal attacks. That extra size matters most when several enemies overlap, when the camera is pulled back, or when effects and scenery compete with a small attack tell. A larger glint gives you more time to identify the event and choose between a parry, a dodge or repositioning.
Turn this on first if your misses feel like a visibility problem rather than a timing problem. Play a few encounters while concentrating on whether you can see the cue at all. If you can see it but still react late, the setting has solved the information gap; further improvement requires learning the timing. If the enlarged visuals pull your attention away from the environment during quiet travel, you can leave them available for combat and reduce other visual assistance instead of removing the cue entirely.
Projectile Indicator
Projectile Indicator warns about ranged attacks coming from outside your immediate view. In a group fight, an enemy behind or beside the camera can be as dangerous as the opponent in front of you. The indicator supplies a directional warning so you can dodge, turn toward the shooter or use cover before the hit lands.
Rank #2
- Discover a bold, new story of a warrior in Japan who is on her own mission of vengeance.
- Set 300 years after the critically acclaimed Ghost of Tsushima, Ghost of Yōtei is a standalone experience set in 1600s rural Japan. The story follows a haunted, lone mercenary named Atsu. Thirsty for revenge, she travels through the beautiful, rugged landscapes of northern Japan, hunting those who killed her family many years earlier.
- Sixteen years after her family’s death, Atsu’s quest across Ezo brings her to unexplored lands in search of a gang of six outlaws, but she finds much more than vengeance. Throughout her journey, Atsu will discover unlikely allies, and greater bonds than she could have imagined.
Keep it on for the DLC’s larger or more chaotic encounters, particularly if you are learning a new arena. It is less important in a one-on-one duel where every threat is already on screen. Disable it only when you intentionally want to remove offscreen warnings; doing so increases uncertainty rather than making the underlying attacks less powerful.
Choose the right amount of aiming assistance
Aim Assist
Aim Assist improves ranged accuracy by automatically targeting nearby enemies. It is an optional control aid, not a requirement for completing the content. Use it when the reticle frequently passes a target, when quick shots in a crowd are difficult to place, or when camera movement makes manual tracking uncomfortable.

One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchLeave it off if precise manual placement is part of the fun, if you need to select a particular enemy rather than the nearest one, or if automatic targeting repeatedly pulls your attention away from the target you chose. The useful decision is not whether assistance is “better”; it is whether the convenience outweighs the loss of fully manual control for your play style.
Aim Assist has no practical role in a melee-only duel. Keep it off for that situation unless ranged attacks are part of your plan. Turning it on does not replace Enhanced Combat Cues or Projectile Indicator: those options address incoming attacks, while Aim Assist addresses your outgoing ranged targeting.
Reduce flash discomfort without hiding information
Dark Flashes for Blind Bombs
This option changes the bright flash produced by Blind Bombs into a dark-screen effect. Choose the dark version if repeated white flashes cause eye strain, headaches or general discomfort. It is also a sensible choice for long sessions in a dim room where a sudden bright burst feels especially harsh.
Rank #3
- Battle against over 50 players simultaneously in a massive multiplayer playground.
- Compete in an all-out mass start race—collide, grind, and fight your way to the finish
- Customize your character to show off your style to your friends or show up the competition.
- Bike, ski, snowboard, or wingsuit through a seamless open world in Career mode or multiplayer events.
- Go wild on the heights of iconic US national parks like Yosemite, Zion, and Bryce Canyon.
Because the replacement is a visual change rather than a claim about damage or duration, select the version that lets you understand what is happening immediately. If the dark effect makes the scene harder for you to parse, return to the standard presentation and use the game’s other visual-comfort controls instead.
High-contrast accessibility
Patch v2.0 introduces a high-contrast option. Enable it when attack cues, characters or traversable surfaces blend into the background. High contrast can be more useful than enlarging every interface element because it addresses separation between the subject and the scene.
Use it selectively. If the stronger treatment makes the world look visually busy, first try combining it with the restrained exploration setup below. The goal is to make important objects legible without covering the landscape with permanent markers.
Set up exploration for a clean view
Sucker Punch has described an exploration approach built around curiosity, longer sightlines and less intrusive guidance. That philosophy supports a low-clutter setup: retain cues that solve a real combat or visibility problem, but avoid adding assistance that obscures distant landmarks or environmental composition.
- Start with Enhanced Combat Cues and Projectile Indicator on so combat warnings remain available.
- Keep Aim Assist off unless you regularly use ranged weapons and need automatic targeting.
- Enable high contrast only if the scene, enemies or navigation surfaces are difficult to distinguish.
- Choose Dark Flashes for Blind Bombs if bright effects cause discomfort; otherwise use the presentation you read most reliably.
- Spend time in a familiar area before changing several options at once. This makes it clear which adjustment solved a specific problem.
The game’s accessibility listing also identifies visual-comfort support and 3D audio. Use those features when camera movement, effects or sound presentation causes discomfort. They complement the cue settings: visual options change what you see, while 3D audio can provide another way to perceive activity around you.

Three practical presets
These presets organize the same options around different priorities. They are starting points, not fixed difficulty modes.
| Preset | Settings | Best for | Trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Readable combat | Enhanced Combat Cues on; Projectile Indicator on; Aim Assist on when ranged weapons are used often; Dark Flashes on when bright effects are uncomfortable. | Players who miss attacks because warnings are hard to see or ranged targets are difficult to select. | The screen supplies more information and may feel less minimal. |
| Minimal-interface exploration | Keep the combat baseline available; leave Aim Assist off unless needed; use high contrast and visual-comfort options only when they improve visibility or comfort. | Players who want the landscape and sightlines to remain the focus. | Without optional assistance, some offscreen or low-contrast threats require more attention. |
| Duel practice | Enhanced Combat Cues on; Projectile Indicator optional; Aim Assist irrelevant unless ranged attacks are part of the encounter. | One-on-one practice where reading the opponent’s attack timing is the priority. | Projectile warnings contribute little when every threat is already visible. |
How to tune settings without guesswork
You can identify the right combination by changing one variable at a time. The exact menu layout can vary with language and platform configuration, so use the game’s Settings and accessibility entries rather than relying on a memorized menu path.
- Open the game’s Settings menu from the pause screen or title screen.
- Locate the combat, control or accessibility section that contains Enhanced Combat Cues, Projectile Indicator and Aim Assist.
- Apply the baseline: turn on Enhanced Combat Cues and Projectile Indicator, then decide on Aim Assist according to your use of ranged weapons.
- Find the visual-effects option for Blind Bombs and select Dark Flashes if bright flashes are uncomfortable.
- Open the accessibility options and test high contrast, visual-comfort support and 3D audio only if you need them.
- Return to a normal encounter, not just a menu preview, and observe the specific symptom you are trying to fix.
- Change one setting, repeat a similar encounter and keep the change only if it improves readability, control or comfort.
This process separates three different problems: missing an incoming cue, losing control of a ranged target and experiencing visual discomfort. Solving the wrong problem can make the interface busier without making combat easier.

“I am hit by attacks I never see.”
Confirm that Enhanced Combat Cues is on for melee warnings and Projectile Indicator is on for offscreen ranged attacks. If the attacker still blends into the scene, test high contrast. These settings address visibility; they do not make an attack slower.

“I can see the target but my ranged shots drift.”
Try Aim Assist. If it selects a different nearby enemy than the one you intended, turn it back off and use manual aim. Enhanced Combat Cues and Projectile Indicator will not correct outgoing shot placement.
Best Value
- Beyond war, ancient beauty endures: Roam vast countryside and expansive terrain to encounter rich characters, discover ancient landmarks and uncover the hidden beauty of Tsushima.
- The rise of the Ghost: Seek support from old friends and new unlikely allies to reclaim Tsushima.
- Mud, Blood and steel: challenge opponents with your katana for an immersive Samurai combat experience.
- Become legends together: play with friends or via online matchmaking in a series of two-player story missions or four-player wave-based survival missions in the legends online co-op
- A whole new island to explore: Travel to Iki Island to investigate rumors of a Mongol presence in a brand-new story with deeply personal stakes.
“Blind Bombs are painful to look at.”
Enable Dark Flashes for Blind Bombs and consider the game’s visual-comfort support. If discomfort continues, reduce other sources of visual strain where the accessibility menu permits it rather than adding more combat indicators.
“The world feels covered in interface elements.”
Keep only the cues that solve your combat problem. Leave Aim Assist off when you do not need ranged help, and enable high contrast only when normal contrast is insufficient. This preserves the restrained guidance approach while retaining essential warnings.
“I want a harder, more manual fight.”
Turn off Projectile Indicator and Enhanced Combat Cues, and leave Aim Assist off. Make these changes deliberately: they remove warnings and targeting support, so the challenge comes from having less information and more manual control.
What the evidence does—and does not—establish
Sony’s documented descriptions establish the intended behavior of the toggles: enlarged glints, offscreen projectile warnings, nearby-enemy auto-targeting, a dark Blind Bomb effect and a high-contrast mode added in patch v2.0. The official material does not provide performance benchmarks, frame-rate improvements or statistics showing that one preset shortens encounters. Treat these as readability and comfort adjustments, not performance optimizations.
The DLC and patch dates also have a regional qualification. October 1, 2026 is the announced global date, while some territories receive the content on October 2. If a setting or activity is missing, verify that the game has installed patch v2.0 and that your territory has reached its release date before troubleshooting the options themselves.
Final recommendation
Begin with Enhanced Combat Cues and Projectile Indicator on. Add Aim Assist only when ranged targeting is a recurring problem, choose Dark Flashes for visual comfort, and use high contrast when scene separation is poor. For exploration, keep the interface restrained and enable additional assistance only when it solves a concrete visibility or comfort issue. This combination preserves Ghost of Yōtei’s curiosity-led landscapes while making the DLC’s combat warnings easier to read.
