ghd promotes one-stroke, high-definition results and says the Chronos offers “3x faster styling” than ghd Original. The listing’s footnote defines that speed claim using shine measured on brunette hair versus naturally dried hair in a laboratory test. It is not a general stopwatch comparison with other straighteners, nor does it establish that every user can straighten every section in one pass.

Hair texture, section size and technique can affect the result. The official evidence supports the existence of the claims and their stated test contexts, but does not show that the Chronos is faster or shinier than competing models in a representative head-to-head test.

Chronos vs. Chronos Max: which size fits?

It does not establish that Max is categorically better or independently prove that it will style a particular person’s hair faster. Consider length, thickness, curl pattern and the precision you want: wider plates cover more area, while the standard 1-inch format may be easier to maneuver for smaller sections and varied styling.
Is the ghd Chronos worth the price?
It may suit someone who wants a premium, versatile 1-inch styler and values ghd’s motion-responsive design, but the available official information alone cannot establish market-wide value or independent performance superiority. At the time of the consulted official listings, the UK page showed £224 as a promotional price reduced from £299, while the US page showed $359. These are market-specific listing snapshots, not a direct MSRP comparison; check the relevant local listing for the current price.

The UK listing displayed 4.7/5 from 705 reviews, with 91% saying they would recommend it. That is a changing, self-selected retailer review summary, not a controlled test or a representative measure of all owners. Warranty: check the exact model and market
Warranty terms differ by model and are presented by market. The consulted UK and US guidance lists three years for standard ghd Chronos and two years for Chronos Max. In the US, ghd says the warranty period begins on the original purchase date; keep the cable tag and proof of purchase from an authorized retailer. ghd states that registration is not the warranty, that it has no in-house repair shop, and that eligible defective products are replaced rather than repaired. Travel, safe use and cleaning
Using it abroad
ghd’s FAQ says the Chronos has universal voltage and adapts to local voltage. You still need a travel adapter compatible with the destination’s outlet. Check the official Chronos FAQ and how-to page for the manufacturer’s guidance.
Heat and automatic shut-off
The official styling setting is 185°C / 365°F, and sleep mode switches the styler off after 10 minutes unattended. Allow the plates to cool before handling or storing it.

Cleaning
- Unplug the styler and let it cool completely.
- Wipe the exterior and plates with a soft, damp cloth.
