Yes, if your PC meets the target tier you want. The final reported requirements range from Medium at 1080p/60 fps to Ultra at 4K/60+ fps, with an SSD, a hardware ray tracing-capable graphics card, and at least 12 GB of system RAM. Check your GPU, CPU, memory and available SSD space against the matching tier before buying upgrades.
Gears of War: E-Day PC requirements at a glance
The figures below are the final launch requirements reported by PC Gamer on October 1, 2026, attributed to The Coalition. The official Xbox Wire announcement confirms final specifications were published on September 17, 2026, but presents the table as an image; PC Gamer provides the readable transcription. Each frame-rate target uses an upscaling option such as DLSS, FSR, TSR or XeSS, so treat it as a target rather than a guarantee for every scene or PC configuration. | Target tier | Preset and target | Example GPUs | Example CPUs | VRAM | System RAM | Storage |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Minimum | Medium, 1080p at 60 fps | NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5050 or RTX 2060; AMD Radeon RX 6600 or RX 9060 | AMD Ryzen 5 2600X; Intel Core i7-6850K or Core i5-10400 | 6 GB | 12 GB | 115 GB SSD |
| Recommended | High, 1440p at 60+ fps | NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 or RTX 3060 Ti; AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT or RX 9060 XT | AMD Ryzen 5 5600; Intel Core i5-11600K | 8 GB | 16 GB | 115 GB SSD |
| Ultra | Ultra, 4K at 60+ fps | NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Ti; AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT | AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D; Intel Core i7-14700K | 12 GB | 16 GB | 115 GB SSD |
The graphics card must support hardware ray tracing; a card without dedicated hardware ray tracing support is not supported, regardless of its apparent raw rendering speed. The stated requirement applies to all three tiers. PC Gamer
How to decide whether your PC needs an upgrade
1. Choose the resolution and preset you actually want
Use the matching row as your reference: 1080p Medium, 1440p High or 4K Ultra. A minimum-tier card is not an Ultra recommendation. If your current PC meets the tier for your intended settings and performs acceptably, the published table alone is not a reason to replace parts.

- Hawk Fan
- Server-grade Thermal Conductive Gel
- RGB Lighting
2. Verify hardware ray tracing support
Check the exact graphics card model, not just its age or name. Hardware ray tracing is a support condition in the final requirements. Upscaling technologies can help tune image quality and performance, but do not waive that condition.
3. Compare GPU, CPU and memory as a set
If your GPU is below the examples for your chosen tier, a graphics-card upgrade may be the relevant change. Before choosing one, check power-supply capacity and connectors, case clearance, CPU balance, and budget. The requirements list 12 GB RAM for minimum and 16 GB for Recommended and Ultra; they also specify different CPU classes for each tier. Avoid buying a new CPU or memory kit if your system already meets the desired tier and works well.

- NVIDIA Ampere Streaming Multiprocessors: The all-new Ampere SM brings 2X the FP32 throughput and improved power efficiency.
- 2nd Generation RT Cores: Experience 2X the throughput of 1st gen RT Cores, plus concurrent RT and shading for a whole new level of ray-tracing performance.
- 3rd Generation Tensor Cores: Get up to 2X the throughput with structural sparsity and advanced AI algorithms such as DLSS. These cores deliver a massive boost in game performance and all-new AI capabilities.
- Axial-tech fan design features a smaller fan hub that facilitates longer blades and a barrier ring that increases downward air pressure.
- OC Mode : 1500 MHz (Boost Clock)/Default Mode : 1470 MHz (Boost Clock)
4. Check free SSD capacity and compatibility
Every final tier lists 115 GB on an SSD. If you do not have enough suitable free space, adding or replacing an SSD may solve that storage shortfall. The published requirement does not specify NVMe versus SATA, internal versus external, or a particular drive capacity; confirm what interface, slot or bay your PC supports before shopping. Which PC features may help performance?
The Coalition says the PC version is built on Unreal Engine 5 and DirectX 12, with support for NVIDIA DLSS 4.5, AMD FSR, Unreal Engine TSR and Intel XeSS, as well as NVIDIA Reflex and Advanced Shader Delivery on compatible systems. These are not interchangeable switches: availability and their effect on frame rate or image quality depend on the hardware and settings. Advanced Shader Delivery precompiles shaders on compatible systems and may reduce loading times and first-run shader stutter; no numeric improvement has been stated. Xbox Wire on E-Day PC features

- Powered by the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture and DLSS 4. System Requirements: Minimum 850W PSU with 16-pin 12V-2x6 (12VHPWR) connector required. Verify before purchasing.
- Military-grade components deliver rock-solid power and longer lifespan for ultimate durability. Compatibility: 348mm (13.7") length, 3.6 slots, 4.3 lbs. Confirm case clearance and slot spacing. GPU bracket included.
- Protective PCB coating helps protect against short circuits caused by moisture, dust, or debris
- 3.6-slot design with massive fin array optimized for airflow from three Axial-tech fans
- Phase-change GPU thermal pad helps ensure optimal thermal performance and longevity, outlasting traditional thermal paste for graphics cards under heavy loads
Why older beta requirements should not guide a launch upgrade
The earlier PC specifications were explicitly beta recommendations, and the beta FAQ said final requirements would be published later. Its SSD advice and warning about possible HDD issues applied to the beta. For a launch purchase or upgrade, use the final 115 GB SSD requirement and the final component tiers above, not the beta table. Xbox beta FAQ
What independent CPU testing does—and does not—tell you
Tom’s Hardware tested 25 CPUs in its review setup and reported high CPU utilization, along with performance differences tied to its tested configurations. In those tests, Low Core Mode reduced performance across the tested CPU pool, while a two-core configuration behaved distinctly. This is useful evidence that CPU results depend on configuration, not a universal prediction for every system or a substitute for the published requirements. Tom’s Hardware performance analysis
Launch platforms and multiplayer details
Xbox lists Gears of War: E-Day for Xbox Series X|S and Windows 10/11, with a global release date of October 6, 2026. The Xbox US listing says the game is available through PC Game Pass at launch and identifies Steam as a storefront. Xbox Play Anywhere supports play across Xbox Series X|S and PC with shared progression and achievements. The listing describes online co-op for up to four players; two-player split-screen is console-only. Xbox’s 4K/60 fps statement refers to console performance, not the PC Ultra requirement.
