Gears of War: E-Day PC requirements at a glance
The Coalition announced the final PC specifications on September 17, 2026. The table below reproduces the launch tiers reported by PC Gamer from those specifications. The model names are examples in each tier, not a complete list of compatible processors and graphics cards. Compare your hardware with the tier closest to your display goal rather than treating Ultra as the entry requirement.
Does E-Day require ray tracing?
Yes. The launch requirements state that a graphics card with dedicated hardware ray-tracing capability is required. A card without that capability is not a supported workaround, even if it has enough memory or appears similar in general performance. Check your exact GPU model against the requirement before judging it by VRAM alone. [PC Gamer]

How to tell whether your PC is a fit
- Choose the target that matches your display. Use the minimum tier as the published 1080p/60 Medium target, Recommended for 1440p/60+ High, or Ultra for 4K/60+ Ultra. You do not need Ultra-class hardware just to play at a lower target.
- Check hardware ray tracing first. Confirm your graphics card has dedicated hardware ray tracing. If it does not, the published requirements do not support it.
- Compare the GPU and its VRAM. Match your GPU model and memory to the closest tier. A GPU can meet the VRAM number and still miss the ray-tracing requirement or tier performance target.
- Check CPU and system memory together. The minimum tier lists 12 GB RAM and older CPU examples; Recommended and Ultra list 16 GB RAM with stronger processor examples. If your CPU is below the listed class, do not assume a stronger GPU alone will deliver the target.
- Confirm SSD space. Every tier lists 115 GB on an SSD. You need adequate free space on a suitable SSD; a new drive is only relevant if your current storage lacks room or is not an appropriate SSD. Verify the system supports the drive’s interface and physical form factor before buying one.
- Account for upscaling realistically. The published frame-rate targets include DLSS, FSR, Unreal Engine TSR, or XeSS. Xbox also lists DLSS 4.5, AMD FSR, Unreal Engine TSR, Intel XeSS, and Advanced Shader Delivery support on compatible hardware. These features can affect performance, but their availability and results depend on your GPU and settings. [Xbox Wire]
Why beta requirements are not the launch requirements
The final specifications followed additional PC stability and performance work after the July multiplayer open beta. The Coalition’s August beta FAQ explicitly warned that beta specifications were not the launch specifications. Treat beta-era storage and driver guidance as specific to that test, not as a replacement for the final launch table. [Xbox Wire; Xbox Wire]

Launch-period testing gives context, but it does not establish a universal performance result. Tom’s Guide tested with a Ryzen 7 9700X, RTX 5070, and 32 GB RAM. In its configuration it reported about 50 fps at 4K High without its DLSS options enabled, and about 115 fps after enabling DLSS 4.5 dynamic frame generation and upscaling while raising several ray-tracing settings to Ultra. That is one outlet’s result on its test system, not a promise for another PC. [Tom’s Guide]

Tom’s Hardware tested 25 CPUs and reported high CPU utilization and performance scaling across its processor pool. It found that Low Core Mode reduced performance on its modern desktop test CPUs; the outlet noted possible usefulness in dual-core conditions and did not test mobile chips or handhelds. Those findings are specific to its test conditions and should not be generalized to every desktop, laptop, or handheld. [Tom’s Hardware]
