Gears of War: E-Day entered Premium Edition Early Access on October 1, 2026; its worldwide launch is scheduled for October 6. What multiplayer modes are in Gears of War: E-Day?
The announced multiplayer lineup centers on two different experiences: Horde Siege, cooperative player-versus-environment (PvE), and Versus, player-versus-player (PvP). The Xbox product description also lists online campaign co-op.

The Coalition’s July 30, 2026 multiplayer overview describes Horde Siege as a new 12-player PvE evolution and says the mode will receive new classes, maps, missions, modifiers and seasonal content after launch. The 12-player figure is the developer’s description of Horde Siege, not a player-count claim for Versus or campaign co-op.
What is planned for the five multiplayer seasons?
The Coalition has committed to five themed seasons, counting the launch season. Season 1 is Emergence, followed by Legacy, Infiltration, Pendulum and Devotion. Legacy is dedicated to the franchise’s 20th anniversary. The developer has not announced exact dates for Seasons 2–5 and says their lengths may vary.

Across the roadmap, the announced categories include maps, modes, characters, skins, Horde Siege classes, limited-time events and other seasonal content. The Coalition said fuller roadmap details would be shared closer to launch; the season names are not, by themselves, a detailed item-by-item schedule.
Season 1: Emergence dates and events
In its September 30 update, The Coalition said Season 1 begins with Early Access and lasts eight weeks, ending December 1, 2026. It named three limited-time events: Halloween, 20 Years of Gears and Thanksgibbing. Each was described as a two-week event with a Versus event mode, a Horde Siege event mission and exclusive rewards.

The announcement provides event durations and components, but not individual start and end dates for those three events.
When does Versus Ranked launch?
Versus Ranked was scheduled to launch on October 13, 2026—one week after the October 6 worldwide launch. The Coalition said the delay would give players time to learn the modes and sandbox first. This is the announced release schedule, not independent confirmation that Ranked is live.

Early Access, worldwide launch and platforms
Xbox Wire reported that Premium Edition Early Access began worldwide on October 1, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. Pacific Time (15:00 UTC). The worldwide launch was scheduled for October 6 at the same time. Premium Edition players were eligible to start October 1; Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass members could join on October 6. As of October 3, Early Access had begun and the worldwide launch date was still ahead.
Xbox Wire lists Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC and Steam, with cloud gaming through Game Pass Ultimate and GeForce NOW. Its product description says online campaign co-op, Horde Siege, Versus and other online multiplayer features require a Game Pass subscription that includes online multiplayer, sold separately. Access can vary by platform and subscription, so check the current Xbox listing for the edition and service available to you.

The Coalition’s September 30 update said Meat Shields, Chainsaw Duels, some past weapons, Private Lobbies and leaderboards were not part of the launch feature set. The team was considering how and what to deliver after launch or in a later title. That wording is not a commitment to add these features to a particular season—or to E-Day at all.
