“100x more fun” is a playful opinion, not a measured result. What Xbox confirms is that the Gears of War: E-Day campaign can be played solo, in two-player split-screen on console, or with up to four players online. Which format suits you depends on how many people are playing and whether you want to share a screen or connect online.
Can you play the E-Day campaign in co-op?
Yes. Xbox lists three campaign options: solo play, two-player local split-screen on console, and online co-op for up to four players. The official product page does not establish that co-op is more enjoyable for everyone, so treat “100x more fun” as a subjective hook rather than a promise.

Does E-Day have split-screen?
Yes, the campaign supports two-player local split-screen on console. The listed split-screen option is console-only; do not assume it is available on Windows PC or Steam. Choose this format if you want to play together in the same room without setting up online campaign co-op.

How does online campaign co-op work?
Online campaign co-op supports up to four players. Xbox states that online campaign co-op and other online multiplayer features require a Game Pass subscription that includes online multiplayer, sold separately. Check the current subscription terms for your region before joining online.

What else should co-op players know?
Campaign co-op is different from multiplayer modes
The official multiplayer overview says Combat Training supports four-player co-op. That is a multiplayer detail, not a separate confirmation about campaign features. The same overview says nearly every customization item can be earned through play, including through challenges, achievements, medals, matches, and Coins; those progression details apply to multiplayer, not campaign co-op. See the official Gears of War multiplayer overview.
Optional extras are not co-op requirements
Xbox Wire identifies The Art and Making of Gears of War: E-Day from Insight Editions as an official companion book, with developer interviews and coverage of the game’s art, story, sound, and design. It is optional reading, not something needed to play together.

The Xbox Game Studios Shop’s Collector’s Edition listing includes a Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago statue, replica COG tags, a lithograph, an in-game photo, a SteelBook, and game entitlement. The listing showed the edition out of stock when checked, so consult the official shop for current stock and price. These collector items are unrelated to co-op access.
