GameSir lists the iPhone 15 series as supported; an independent review tested it with both an iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro Max. Its small controls may suit smaller hands, but case clearance and the lack of a headphone jack are meaningful trade-offs.
What the GameSir X2s Type-C is
GameSir describes the X2s Type-C as a retro Nintendo 2DS-inspired mobile controller. It connects directly to a phone through its built-in movable USB-C plug, draws power from the phone, and does not need to be charged separately. Rubber-coated grips and the adjustable connector are intended to accommodate different phone sizes, including some foldables.
GameSir unveiled the controller on March 10, 2024, and its June 20, 2024 launch article said it was available through Amazon and other major retailers. Those dates establish the product’s launch history, not current stock or pricing.
Does it work with iPhone 15, and how do you connect it?
GameSir’s compatibility FAQ names the iPhone 15 series and Android phones measuring 110–168 mm (4.3–6.6 inches). Its setup tutorial specifies iOS 14 or newer and Android 8.0 or newer. The FAQ does not establish compatibility with iPhone generations newer than the 15 series, so check GameSir’s current compatibility information for a newer model rather than assuming it fits.

- Check that your phone meets the relevant OS and size requirements. GameSir’s tutorial allows phone cases up to 1 mm thick.
- Connect the supplied Type-C port and extend the controller.
- Place the phone in the cradle, aligning its USB-C port with the controller connector, then release the controller so it holds the phone.
- Check the indicator: GameSir says it should be white for iOS and blue for Android. If the mode is wrong, hold G + S to switch.
Will it fit with an iPhone case?
GameSir’s tutorial gives a maximum case thickness of 1 mm, but that figure does not guarantee a fit with every case shape. In its review, iMore found that many iPhone 15 Pro Max cases were incompatible and often had to be removed. If keeping a case on matters, check its thickness and the phone’s connector alignment; a bulky case is a particular concern.
How do the controls feel, and who will find them comfortable?
The X2s uses Hall Effect sticks and analog triggers. GameSir says magnetic, non-contact sensing is designed to avoid wear and stick drift. That is a description of the design, not proof that drift is impossible or a published independent durability result.

GameSir says the micro-switch bumpers are rated for a 3-million-click lifespan; this is the manufacturer’s rating, not an independently verified test. The controls have a clicky feel. Macworld reviewer Petter Ahrnstedt reported using the X2s with an iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro Max and playing Halo Infinite through Xbox cloud gaming, War Robots, and Asphalt. He found it easy to use, while noting that adapting to hardware controls takes practice.
The compact layout is a better fit for some hands than others. iMore’s reviewer said the small controls may suit smaller hands, while readers with larger hands may find them less comfortable. If possible, consider the control size and grip before choosing it for long sessions.

Can it run cloud gaming, native games and emulators?
GameSir says the X2s supports Android games, cloud gaming, and emulators. Macworld’s review provides a specific example of Xbox cloud gaming with Halo Infinite, as well as play with War Robots and Asphalt. Support still depends on the individual game and platform: the controller cannot make a game compatible with an operating system or service that does not support it.
What features and trade-offs should you know about?
- Wired USB-C connection: the controller plugs into the phone and uses phone power, so there is no separate controller battery to charge.
- Button-layout toggle: press Capture + A to switch between Xbox and Nintendo button layouts.
- Trigger modes: hold Capture + LT or RT for two seconds to enable hair-trigger mode. GameSir says the analog triggers otherwise have a full response area.
- Android adjustments: GameSir World software can adjust stick and trigger dead zones, button layout, and analog or hair-trigger mode on Android.
- No headphone jack: iMore identifies the absence of an aux/headphone jack as a drawback, which matters if you rely on wired headphones connected through the controller.
- Passthrough charging: iMore’s review notes passthrough charging. That does not change the controller’s wired, phone-powered connection.
Is the X2s a budget buy?
Macworld listed a price of $45.99 when it reviewed the controller on May 13, 2024. That is historical context, not a current price; the amount you pay now depends on the retailer and market. GameSir’s June 2024 launch article mentioned Amazon and other major retailers, but did not establish today’s price or availability.

Its strongest case is for someone who wants a compact retro-styled controller, Hall Effect inputs, a wired connection, and support for an iPhone 15-series phone or compatible Android device. The main reasons to look elsewhere are larger hands, a need to retain a bulky case, or a requirement for wired headphone support.
