For fantasy and turn-based RPGs
Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen is the pick for a larger fantasy RPG and a new snow-covered region. Final Fantasy Resonance offers turn-based battles in an HD-2D presentation, and its listed platforms include both Switch generations.
For action and horror
Valor Mortis blends first-person play with Soulslike design and a supernatural Napoleonic setting. Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse emphasizes acrobatic action and exploration. Horror fans can also look at the three Resident Evil releases scheduled for Switch 2 on October 16; the calendar identifies their editions and platform, but does not describe them as new entries.

For established series
Gears of War: E-Day goes back to the series’ origins as a prequel, while Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is listed with Campaign, Multiplayer, and DMZ modes. Phantom Blade 0 is a distinct action-RPG option for players drawn to kung fu alongside steampunk and cyberpunk elements.
Are these all new games?
No. The calendar includes different kinds of releases, and the listings do not always specify whether a title is a remake, remaster, port, or expansion. Treat each as a scheduled release or edition unless its publisher describes it more specifically. For example, the October 16 Resident Evil entries are named as editions, while Nintendo describes Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen as an expanded fantasy RPG. Neither phrasing alone establishes every detail of how the release is packaged.

How to choose what to play
- Check your platform first: the list is not universal across PC, PlayStation, Xbox, Switch, and Switch 2. For instance, Nintendo lists Nintendo Switch Sports Resort for Switch 2, while Final Fantasy Resonance is listed for both Switch generations.
- Match the play style: choose puzzle-solving in Order of the Sinking Star, rhythm-action in Ratatan, racing in Star Wars: Galactic Racer, or RPG combat in Valor Mortis and Final Fantasy Resonance.
- Recheck the local date: Nintendo’s calendar is regional, and release schedules can shift. Confirm the date, platform, and edition on the relevant publisher or store page for your region.
- Separate launches from calendar noise: October schedules may also include updates, downloadable content, events, and sales. Those are not the same as a new game release.
