Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFor the closest documented alternative to Deadlock’s mix of third-person movement, shooter framing, lanes, objectives, and team fights, try Predecessor. Choose SMITE 2 if you want a third-person action MOBA with publisher-described hero-shooter-like combat and 5v5 strategy. Neither should be treated as a proven one-to-one replacement for Deadlock.
Deadlock itself remains in limited access: its Steam page describes it as early in development, says access is limited to friend invites from playtesters, and lists its release date as “To be announced.” Its official forum showed update activity in September 2026.
Which game is closest to Deadlock?
Predecessor is the closer match on the available official descriptions. Its third-person camera, vertical movement, shooter/MOBA framing, heroes, lanes, objectives, and team fights line up with more of the features Deadlock players may want to keep. That makes it the first game to try if movement through a 3D battlefield and MOBA structure matter most.
SMITE 2 is a strong alternative for action-MOBA combat and team strategy. Its publisher describes it as a third-person action MOBA and says its combat has a hero-shooter feel. The official description does not establish that it shares Deadlock’s vertical movement or shooter-first mechanics, so treat it as a related style rather than a direct substitute.

Choose based on what you want to keep from Deadlock
Pick Predecessor for movement and shooter presentation
Start with Predecessor if the appeal of Deadlock is moving through a three-dimensional battlefield while playing a lane-based team MOBA. Its official description specifically calls out vertical movement alongside the familiar MOBA elements of heroes, lanes, objectives, and team fights. That is the strongest overlap established by the available sources, though it does not prove identical maps, mechanics, or combat.

Pick SMITE 2 for third-person action and 5v5 team strategy
Try SMITE 2 if you want a third-person action-MOBA format and a blend of shooter-like combat with MOBA teamwork. Hi-Rez Studios’ official site says: “No other game offers combat that feels like your favorite hero shooter, crossed with the deep strategy you can only find in a 5v5 MOBA.” That is the publisher’s description of its game, not an independent comparison with Deadlock.
Let your preferred input decide only if it matters to you
Both games document controller support, so controller availability need not rule either out. Predecessor’s Steam listing includes controller play; SMITE 2’s official site lists controller support as well as keyboard and mouse and Steam Deck. Controller support alone does not establish that one game plays better with a controller.
