Samsung’s latest foldables are reportedly beginning to receive an October 2026 security update. SamMobile says the rollout covers the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8, starting in South Korea. However, Samsung firmware records reviewed for one Fold8 variant and one Flip8 variant still list the September 5, 2026 security patch, so availability is not yet confirmed for every model or market.
Check your own phone rather than assuming the update is global. Rollout timing can differ by model, country and service provider.
What is known about the October update
- Reported devices: Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8.
- Initial market: South Korea, according to SamMobile. No confirmed schedule was provided for other countries.
- Reported Fold8 Ultra package: build
F976NKSS3AZIJ, with a download size of 5,298.47 MB. - Patch contents: Samsung had not yet published a detailed fix list in the report, so the vulnerability count and individual fixes are unknown.
The 5,298.47 MB figure applies only to the reported Fold8 Ultra package. It should not be treated as the size for the Fold8 or Flip8.
Why Samsung’s records may show September
Samsung’s published firmware histories reviewed for two specific variants do not yet corroborate the October package:

What the update does—and what is still unknown
Confirmed at this stage
- A published report says the October 2026 patch began in South Korea for Samsung’s 2026 foldables.
- At least one Fold8 Ultra package was identified by build number and reported size.
- The rollout is expected to expand, but no destination markets or timetable were confirmed.
Not confirmed at this stage
- The exact October security-patch level for every Fold8 and Flip8 variant.
- Per-model build numbers and download sizes for the Fold8 and Flip8.
- The complete list and number of security fixes.
- Worldwide availability or a carrier-by-carrier release date.
Do not infer October’s fixes from Samsung’s September bulletin. A patch count or CVE list for September would not establish what is included in October.
Should you install it?
When the update is offered through your phone’s built-in Software update screen, installing it is the normal way to receive Samsung’s security maintenance. If it is not offered yet, waiting for the official rollout is safer than downloading firmware from an unofficial source. The evidence available so far does not indicate that owners need a new device, accessory or paid service to obtain the update.
