If you’re looking for a Galaxy Watch replacement, check phone compatibility first. For Android users who want a conventional app-focused smartwatch, the Google Pixel Watch 5 is the closest documented alternative here; the OnePlus Watch 4 is another Android-only Wear OS option. Garmin Venu 4 is a better fit for fitness features and longer claimed battery life, while Apple Watch Series 12 only works as an option if you also move to iPhone. This guide covers four supported non-Samsung choices and a fifth decision path: keeping your Galaxy Watch may be the better fit.
First, check whether the watch works with your phone
Compatibility can rule out a watch before its features matter. Samsung’s compatibility guidance, last updated September 9, 2026, says Galaxy Watch9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra2 require Android 13.0 or newer and do not support iOS. Galaxy Watch8 series requires Android 12.0 or newer and also does not support iOS. Older Galaxy Watch generations have different requirements, so check the exact model rather than assuming one rule applies to all Galaxy Watches. Samsung’s Galaxy Watch compatibility table
| Watch | Phone requirement in the cited manufacturer information | What that means for a Galaxy Watch owner |
|---|---|---|
| Google Pixel Watch 5 | Most phones running Android 12.0 or newer; Wear OS 7.0. | Consider it if you are staying with a compatible Android phone. |
| OnePlus Watch 4 | Android 9.0 or later and a specified Google Mobile Services version; iOS is unsupported. | Android only; confirm the Google services requirement for your phone. |
| Garmin Venu 4 | Compatible iPhone or Android phone. | The broadest stated phone support among these alternatives, with a fitness-oriented feature set. |
| Apple Watch Series 12 | iPhone 11 or later with iOS 27 or later. | Not an option for an Android phone; consider it only alongside a move to iPhone. |
Requirements and feature access can vary by model, region and service. Check the manufacturer’s compatibility details for your exact phone before buying.

Google Pixel Watch 5: closest fit for an Android smartwatch experience
For an Android owner who wants a general-purpose smartwatch, Google’s Pixel Watch 5 is the closest documented Wear OS substitute in this guide. Google lists Wear OS 7.0, 41 mm and 45 mm sizes, LTE options, GPS, NFC, ECG-compatible electrical sensors, and 5 ATM/IP68 ratings. The product page says it works with most phones running Android 12.0 or newer. Google Pixel Watch 5 specifications

OnePlus claims up to five days in smart mode, up to three days with heavy smart-mode use, and up to 16 days in power-saver mode. These are manufacturer estimates tied to usage assumptions, not guaranteed everyday runtimes. Check OnePlus’s stated scenario for the mode you intend to use before comparing its figures with another watch.

It suits Android owners who want Wear OS app access and are willing to check phone-service requirements. It is not a choice for someone keeping an iPhone.
Garmin Venu 4: fitness features and less frequent charging
Garmin positions the Venu 4 as a health-and-fitness smartwatch compatible with a compatible iPhone or Android phone. Its listed features include HRV status, Body Battery, workout benefit and recovery time, training readiness, wrist-based running dynamics, onboard music, Garmin Pay, smart notifications, and safety and tracking features. Garmin claims up to 12 days in smartwatch mode. That is a manufacturer maximum, not an independently measured comparison with the other watches here. Garmin announced availability starting September 22, 2025, with suggested retail pricing from $549.99 at launch; that is launch MSRP, not a statement of current street price.
Pick the Venu 4 if training metrics, recovery information and battery endurance matter more to you than matching a Wear OS app experience. Garmin’s listed features do not establish parity with Galaxy Watch apps or Samsung-specific capabilities.

Apple Watch Series 12: only if you also switch to iPhone
Apple Support says Series 12 requires iPhone 11 or later with iOS 27 or later, so it cannot replace a Galaxy Watch while you keep an Android phone. Apple lists health, activity and safety functions, and claims up to 24 hours of normal use or up to 38 hours in Low Power Mode. These are Apple’s figures, not independent test results. Apple Watch Series 12 technical specifications
It belongs on your shortlist only if changing your phone ecosystem is part of the decision. Apple’s current comparison page lists Series 12 among its Apple Watch models. Compare Apple Watch models
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. The fifth choice: keep your Galaxy Watch if its ecosystem fits
The available manufacturer information supports four named non-Samsung alternatives, not five equally well-documented replacements. Rather than treat an unsupported fifth model as a recommendation, compare the alternatives with your current watch. If you depend on Samsung-specific functions or want continuity with Samsung Health, a current Galaxy Watch may remain the most practical fit. Start by identifying your exact Galaxy Watch generation and checking its compatibility and feature requirements in Samsung’s table.
How to choose among the options
- Staying with Android and want a general smartwatch: start with Pixel Watch 5, then check that your essential Samsung-dependent functions are covered.
- Staying with Android and considering OnePlus: confirm the required Google Mobile Services version and decide whether its usage-dependent battery modes suit your routine.
- Prioritizing training and endurance: compare Garmin’s fitness feature set with the metrics and apps you actually use, rather than assuming the devices offer the same functions.
- Moving to iPhone: Apple Watch Series 12 is the relevant option here, provided your iPhone meets Apple’s stated requirement.
- Unsure whether to leave Samsung: check the exact Galaxy Watch generation and the Samsung-specific features you would lose or replace before switching.
Battery claims above are not directly comparable test results: manufacturers specify different sizes, modes and use scenarios. Treat them as starting points for checking each maker’s assumptions, not as a numerical ranking.
