Which platforms run Forza Horizon 6?
Xbox Series X|S
The Xbox Series X|S version is available through the Xbox/Microsoft Store. Its listed release date was 19 May 2026. If you own an eligible Game Pass Ultimate subscription, the console version is included without a separate game purchase while the subscription remains active.

- CRUISE ICONIC LOCATIONS — Drive through Tokyo’s city streets, suburbs, docks, and industrial districts in the most expansive urban environment in Horizon history.
- DRIVE 550+ REAL‑WORLD CARS — Collect and customize over 550 licensed vehicles with body kits, Forza Aero, window liveries, and enhanced steering animations.
- BUILD YOUR ESTATE — Purchase beautiful homes across Japan and customize garages to showcase your growing car collection as you rise through the Horizon Festival.
- JOIN THE HORIZON COMMUNITY — Race, cruise, and compete with friends in Time Attack Circuits, Drag Meets, Car Meets, and Horizon multiplayer modes, including Spec Racing Championships.
The title is marked Xbox Play Anywhere. A qualifying digital purchase can therefore be used on Xbox console and Windows PC through the Microsoft ecosystem, subject to signing in with the account that owns the license. This is distinct from buying a separate Steam license.
Windows PC: Microsoft Store or Steam
Windows players have two official storefront choices. The Xbox app and Microsoft Store provide the Xbox ecosystem version, including the PC Game Pass route and Xbox Play Anywhere entitlement. Steam provides a separate PC storefront listing. Check which account and launcher you want to use before buying, because your purchase record belongs to that store ecosystem even though the game supports cross-platform features.
PC Game Pass includes the Windows PC version at no additional game charge for members. The Game Pass inclusion applies to the PC edition, while Xbox Game Pass Ultimate covers the Xbox console edition as well.

PlayStation 5
Forza Horizon 6 is coming to PlayStation 5 on 26 January 2027. The PlayStation Store currently offers pre-orders, and the announcement also confirms a disc edition through supporting retailers. Premium Edition pre-orders provide access on 21 January 2027, five days before the Standard and Deluxe release date.
The PS5 edition is not a last-generation PlayStation 4 release. The announced platform is PS5, so a PS4 copy should not be expected unless a later publisher announcement changes the platform list.
Forza Horizon 6 editions compared
| Edition | Included content | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | Full game | Players who want the base experience, or Xbox and PC players using an included Game Pass entitlement |
| Deluxe | Full game, Welcome Pack, and Car Pass | Players who want the first car-content bundle without the VIP package or expansions |
| Premium | Full game, VIP Membership, Welcome Pack, Car Pass, Time Attack Car Pack, Italian Passion Car Pack, Expansion 1, and Expansion 2 | Players who want all announced premium content and early access on PS5 |
The Premium Upgrade is an add-on for owners of the Standard or Deluxe edition. It requires the base game and adds the Premium content listed above; it is not a standalone copy of Forza Horizon 6.
Rank #3
- PREMIUM UPGRADE — Includes VIP Membership, Welcome Pack, Time Attack Car Pack, Car Pass, Italian Passion Car Pack, and two Premium Expansions. Requires Forza Horizon 6 base game or Game Pass Ultimate subscription.
- VIP MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS — Enjoy a 2x Credit boost to race rewards, 3 VIP-Exclusive Forza Edition cars, a weekly bonus Super Wheelspin, and special Vanity Items.
- WELCOME PACK — Features 5 special pre-tuned cars and a Car Voucher, which can be used to claim any car available from the Autoshow.
- TIME ATTACK CAR PACK — Receive 8 legendary cars ideal for mastering every turn and corner at the Time Attack Circuits located around Japan.
- ITALIAN PASSION CAR PACK — Introduces 4 great new Italian cars in Forza Horizon 6 post-launch, perfect for cruising, racing, or exploring.
What the Welcome Pack and Car Pass decision means
The Deluxe tier is the middle option: it adds the Welcome Pack and Car Pass but does not include VIP Membership, the two named car packs, or either expansion. If you are undecided about expansions, Deluxe avoids paying for them up front while still adding the first car-content bundle.

Premium combines the Deluxe inclusions with VIP Membership, the Time Attack Car Pack, the Italian Passion Car Pack, Expansion 1, and Expansion 2. On PS5 it also determines the earlier 21 January 2027 access date. The announcement names both expansions but does not provide their individual launch dates in the available purchase information.
Which edition should you buy?
Choose Standard when you only need the game
- Choose Standard if you want the complete base game and do not need bundled add-ons.
- It is the clearest choice for Xbox or PC players whose access comes through Game Pass, because the subscription already supplies the base game while active.
- On Xbox and PC, you can later evaluate the add-ons and use the Premium Upgrade if you decide you want the full bundle.
Choose Deluxe for the first content bundle
- Choose Deluxe if the Welcome Pack and Car Pass matter to you but the VIP package and expansions do not.
- It is useful for buyers who want more cars immediately while keeping the purchase below Premium pricing.
Choose Premium for all announced add-ons or PS5 early access
- Choose Premium if you want VIP Membership, both named car packs, and Expansion 1 and Expansion 2 in one purchase.
- On PS5, Premium is the only listed edition with access beginning 21 January 2027 instead of 26 January 2027.
- On Xbox and PC, compare the cost of Premium with a Standard or Deluxe purchase plus Premium Upgrade before checkout; the Upgrade requires that base game license.
Where to buy Forza Horizon 6
Buying on Xbox Series X|S
- Open the Xbox or Microsoft Store while signed in to the Microsoft account you will use to play.
- Search for the Forza Horizon 6 listing and confirm that the platform line says Xbox Series X|S.
- Select Standard, Deluxe, or Premium. If you already own Standard or Deluxe, look for the Premium Upgrade rather than purchasing another base game.
- Review the edition contents and final regional price before confirming payment.
- After purchase, install from your Xbox library. If you use Game Pass Ultimate instead, open the Game Pass catalog and install the included console version.
Buying on Windows PC through Microsoft Store or the Xbox app
- Sign in to the Microsoft account that should own the game and open the Xbox app or Microsoft Store.
- Choose the edition and verify that the listing is the Windows PC version.
- Use PC Game Pass if you want subscription access instead of a permanent purchase.
- Install through the Xbox app and keep using that Microsoft account for the Play Anywhere entitlement.
Buying the Steam version
- Open Steam and search for the official Forza Horizon 6 page.
- Select the desired edition or eligible add-on and check that the purchase is for Windows PC.
- Install and launch through Steam. Cross-platform play and cross-save are supported, but the Steam purchase remains a Steam storefront license.
Pre-ordering on PlayStation 5
- Open the PlayStation Store on a PS5 console or through the web store and sign in to the PlayStation Network account that will play the game.
- Compare Standard, Deluxe, and Premium before selecting pre-order.
- Choose Premium if the 21 January 2027 early-access date is important; Standard and Deluxe are scheduled for 26 January 2027.
- For a physical copy, wait for a supporting retailer’s PS5 disc listing and verify the region, edition, and release date before ordering.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is Forza Horizon 6 on Game Pass?
Yes. Game Pass Ultimate includes the Xbox console version, and PC Game Pass includes the Windows PC version. The official FAQ says members can play at no additional game charge on 19 May 2026, the original Xbox and PC launch date. This is access through an active subscription, not ownership of a permanent digital license; if the title or your subscription eligibility changes, access can change as well.
Game Pass does not provide the PS5 version. PlayStation players must use a PS5 digital purchase or the announced supporting-retailer disc edition.

Cross-play, cross-save, and shared content
The PS5 announcement says the game supports cross-platform play and cross-save with the Xbox and Steam versions. That means PS5 players can play with people on those platforms and carry supported progress between versions when the relevant accounts are correctly connected. User-created content is shared across platforms as well.
Cross-save does not turn every storefront into one interchangeable purchase. A Steam license, Microsoft license, and PlayStation license remain separate purchase records, so confirm which platform you are buying for. Cross-platform support is the feature that connects play and saves; it is not a promise that every add-on or entitlement transfers identically in every store.
Early-access timing explained
The PS5 schedule is explicit: Premium begins on 21 January 2027, while Standard and Deluxe begin on 26 January 2027. That is a five-day Premium lead over the regular PS5 launch.
For the original Xbox and PC release, the published timing describes Premium early access as starting four days before the 19 May 2026 launch. Xbox and PC versions are now available, so that early-access window has already passed. Do not use the PS5 dates to infer a new Xbox or PC release; they describe the later PS5 launch.
Buying checklist and common mistakes
- Check the platform first: Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC, PS5, and Steam are different storefront destinations.
- Check the account: Buy while signed in to the Microsoft, Steam, or PlayStation account that will own and use the license.
- Check the edition contents: Deluxe adds Welcome Pack and Car Pass; Premium adds VIP Membership, both named car packs, and two expansions.
- Check early access: Only PS5 Premium is scheduled for 21 January 2027; Standard and Deluxe are scheduled for 26 January 2027.
- Check subscription status: Game Pass access depends on an eligible active plan and does not apply to PS5.
- Check physical listings: A PS5 disc edition is planned, but retailer availability and regional pricing can differ.
- Check prices at checkout: The published $69.99, $99.99, and $119.99 figures are US PlayStation Store prices and may change.
- Check upgrade requirements: Premium Upgrade requires ownership of Standard or Deluxe and cannot replace the base game.
Bottom line for each buyer
Buy or install the Xbox Series X|S version now through Xbox/Microsoft Store, or choose the Microsoft Store/Xbox app or Steam on Windows PC. Use Game Pass if you prefer subscription access on Xbox or PC. If you are waiting for PS5, pre-order the edition that matches your add-on needs: Standard for the base game, Deluxe for Welcome Pack and Car Pass, or Premium for every announced bundle and five-day early access. For a physical PS5 copy, use a supporting retailer once its regional disc listing is available.
