To redeem a Fortnite skin or other product code, sign in to the Epic Games account that should own it, open the Epic Games Launcher (or the Epic Games Store web redemption page), choose Redeem Code, enter the code, and confirm. Fortnite gift cards use a different gift-card portal: scan the QR code or enter the PIN, verify the account shown, and choose Redeem now. After redemption, look in Locker from the Matchmaking Lobby top menu or an in-game Changing Booth.
The account selected at redemption determines ownership. Epic warns: “Make sure you’re signed in to the right account! Funds and purchases can’t be transferred.”
Choose the correct redemption route first
Fortnite codes are not all the same. A product code normally unlocks a specific item or bundle, while a Fortnite gift card adds funds to your Epic account for eligible purchases. A V-Bucks card follows its own redemption procedure. Using the wrong page can make a valid code appear invalid or leave you looking for an item that was never granted directly.

Region, denomination and promotional eligibility can vary. Check the terms shown at redemption and any restrictions printed on the card or supplied by the retailer.

How to redeem an ordinary Fortnite skin or product code
Use this process for a code that identifies a particular Fortnite product, not for a Fortnite gift card or V-Bucks card.
- Open the Epic Games Launcher on a computer and sign in. Use the Epic account that should permanently own the item.
- Open the account menu. Click your account name in the launcher.
- Choose Redeem Code. This opens Epic’s code-entry screen.
- Enter the code exactly as supplied. Check similar-looking characters and remove accidental spaces if the form rejects the entry.
- Confirm the redemption. Read the account details and product description before accepting. Once confirmed, the entitlement is attached to that Epic account.
Epic also provides redemption through the Epic Games Store website. The important decision is not whether you use the launcher or the web page; it is which Epic account is signed in when you submit the code.
What a successful redemption means
A confirmation screen indicates that Epic accepted the code. It does not necessarily open Fortnite or equip the cosmetic automatically. Close and restart Fortnite if it was already running, then inspect Locker. Keep the confirmation screen, email and retailer receipt until you have verified the item.
How to redeem a Fortnite gift card
A Fortnite gift card is account credit, not a coupon for one named outfit. It can fund eligible Fortnite purchases such as V-Bucks, Fortnite Crew and Packs, and it can also be used for eligible Epic Games Store games, downloadable content and add-ons.

- Start the gift-card flow. Scan the QR code on the card or enter the card’s PIN in Epic’s Fortnite gift-card portal.
- Sign in to the intended account. Use the Epic account that should receive the balance, or the linked console account when the portal presents that option.
- Review the account details. Confirm the displayed account name and other identifying information before continuing.
- Link additional accounts if prompted. Complete any account-linking step required by the portal, and make sure the console or Epic account you plan to use is the one shown.
- Select Redeem now. Wait for the confirmation that the balance was added.
Because the card adds balance, you still have to open Fortnite’s shop or the relevant Epic purchase screen and spend that balance on the cosmetic, V-Bucks, Crew or Pack you want. The card itself does not select or deliver a particular skin.
Why the gift-card flow is separate
Epic treats a Fortnite gift card as stored value. Its QR/PIN portal must identify the account receiving funds, whereas a product-code screen validates a particular entitlement. Do not substitute a gift-card PIN in the ordinary Redeem Code box, and do not assume a V-Bucks card can be processed through the gift-card page.
V-Bucks cards are a different process
Epic publishes a dedicated procedure for V-Bucks cards. Follow the instructions associated with that card type rather than the Fortnite gift-card steps. The distinction matters because a V-Bucks card is intended to deliver V-Bucks, while a Fortnite gift card first creates an Epic account balance that can be spent on several eligible products.

If a code came from a retailer, inspect the card wording and packaging before entering anything. “Fortnite gift card” and “V-Bucks” identify different products even though both may be sold in the same game-card section.

Where a redeemed skin appears in Fortnite Locker
Locker is Fortnite’s inventory for appearance and gameplay customizations. Epic’s documentation describes it as the space that stores items such as pickaxe styles, outfits and weapon wraps.
- Launch Fortnite and enter the Matchmaking Lobby.
- Open Locker from the top menu.
- Browse the relevant category, such as outfits, pickaxes or wraps.
- Select the item to equip it, or use the available sorting and filtering controls to narrow the list.
You can also reach Locker through an in-game Changing Booth. If you redeemed a bundle, check each relevant category rather than looking only under outfits; a bundle may include a pickaxe, wrap or another customization.
Why a skin may not be immediately visible
Redemption and delivery are separate actions. Fortnite may need to be restarted to refresh the account entitlements, and the item may be filed under a category you did not check. Epic documents where cosmetics are stored but does not publish a guaranteed delivery time for every redeemed item. Give the game a fresh session, then check Locker from both the Lobby menu and a Changing Booth.

The controlling factor is the Epic account, not the screen on which you typed the code. Redeem the code while signed in to the Epic account intended to own it, then sign in on each platform with that same account and confirm that the console account is linked to it. During gift-card redemption, Epic may ask you to link additional accounts; review those links carefully before selecting Redeem now.

This setup is the practical route for using an account-owned Fortnite entitlement across your linked console and PC sessions. Platform, region and promotional restrictions can still apply, so read the account and eligibility information shown during redemption. If the console and PC sessions use different Epic accounts, the item will not move between them simply because both copies of Fortnite are installed.
Check the account before you redeem
- On the redemption screen, verify the Epic display name or account details.
- On console, confirm which Epic account is connected to the console profile.
- On PC, sign in to that same Epic account before opening Fortnite.
- If the portal offers account linking, stop and resolve any mismatch before submitting the code.
Troubleshooting: a redeemed skin is missing
1. Verify the code type
Re-read the card or product description. A product code, Fortnite gift card and V-Bucks card use different Epic workflows. A gift-card balance will not appear as a named outfit, and a V-Bucks card will not necessarily create a general Epic balance.
2. Verify the receiving account
Return to the account details shown during redemption and compare them with the account currently open in Fortnite. If the code was accepted on another Epic account, sign into that account and check its Locker or balance. Epic’s redeem warning makes clear that funds and purchases cannot be transferred, so selecting the right account before confirmation is essential.

4. Check what the code promised
Look at the redemption confirmation and the original receipt. A gift card should show an account-balance result; a product code should identify the specific entitlement; a V-Bucks card should use the V-Bucks procedure. This distinction often explains why a player expects a skin but sees balance or V-Bucks instead.
5. Preserve evidence for support
Keep the code receipt, purchase record and redemption confirmation. Do not post the code publicly or send it to someone offering an unverified “activation” service. If the entitlement remains missing after the account and Locker checks, provide Epic Support with the transaction details and the account information requested through its official support process.
Do Fortnite skin codes expire?
There is no universal, official catalog that lists every active skin code or a single expiration date for all Fortnite codes. Individual promotions, retailers and regions can impose their own validity periods or eligibility rules. Treat the date and terms printed with a particular promotion as controlling, and check the redemption screen for current restrictions.
Be cautious with lists promising “free” or unlimited skin codes. The official material does not provide a permanent public list that can validate every code circulating online. A code that is already used, limited to a promotion, restricted by region or past its promotional period may fail even when its format looks genuine.
Account and purchase safety checklist
- Use only the Epic account that should own the item.
- Match the code type to its official redemption route.
- Read the account name and product or balance description before confirming.
- Check region, denomination and promotional terms at the time of redemption.
- Keep receipts and confirmation messages until the item or balance is visible.
- Never publish an unused code, and avoid unverified code generators or “free code” lists.
- When a cosmetic is missing, restart Fortnite and inspect Locker through both supported entry points before contacting support.
Fast decision guide
Use the following sequence when you are unsure what to do:
Quick Recap
- Does the card promise a named product? Use the ordinary Epic product-code route.
- Does it say Fortnite gift card? Use the QR/PIN gift-card portal and redeem the resulting Epic balance on an eligible purchase.
- Does it say V-Bucks? Use Epic’s V-Bucks-card procedure.
- Is the item missing? Confirm the account, restart Fortnite, and inspect every relevant Locker category.
- Are you moving between console and PC? Use the same linked Epic account on both platforms and resolve any linking prompt before redemption.
