If a YouTube Live stream keeps buffering on a slow broadband connection, open the player’s Settings → Quality and try 240p or 360p. Then test the stream on another connection or device if possible. These steps reduce playback demand and help narrow down the cause; they cannot identify what “promo loop” means without more detail.
First, identify what is repeating
“Promo loop” could mean the live programme itself is repeating, a loading animation keeps appearing, or an advertisement is repeating. The troubleshooting below addresses playback buffering; YouTube’s general help guidance does not establish a cause specific to India or explain this exact symptom as an ad-related issue.
Start with three diagnostic questions: Does the same stream play at 240p or 360p? Does it work on another connection or device? Do other video services buffer too? The answers help distinguish a playback-quality or connection issue from a problem limited to one app or device.
Lower the video quality
While the stream is playing, open the player’s Settings → Quality menu and select the lowest option you can comfortably watch. YouTube’s slow-connection guidance specifically suggests 240p or 360p. YouTube may also choose quality automatically based on connection speed, screen size, the original video quality, and browser support; viewers can change quality manually on computer, TV, and mobile.

Try fixes for your device and connection
On a computer: let the buffer fill briefly
- Start the live stream and pause it immediately.
- Wait for some of the gray progress bar to fill.
- Resume playback and see whether buffering improves.
YouTube lists this as a tip for slow connections on computer playback. It is not a general fix for every device or cause.

Compare Wi-Fi and mobile data
If you are watching over Wi-Fi, try mobile data; if you are on mobile data, try Wi-Fi. Mobile data charges may apply. If the stream works on one connection but not the other, that points toward a difference in the connection path, though it does not by itself identify the cause.
On Android: clear the YouTube app cache
If other services work but YouTube buffers on an Android device, YouTube’s troubleshooting guidance includes clearing the YouTube app cache. For further device and playback checks, use YouTube Help: Troubleshoot streaming and video issues.

On a TV: check the local Wi-Fi link and app
- Test playback closer to the router.
- Reduce nearby wireless interference and, if possible, limit other devices using the network during the test.
- Try a lower quality in the TV player’s manual quality controls.
- Reopen the YouTube app, restart the TV or streaming device, and check for system updates.
YouTube’s TV guidance gives a separate recommendation of at least 7 Mbps for HD streaming. That figure is not a guarantee, nor is it the same as YouTube’s resolution-specific approximate speed recommendations.
Use speed tests as clues, not guarantees
Run a speed test near the device you are watching on, then compare the result with YouTube’s approximate sustained-speed recommendations. A result near or below the recommendation for your selected resolution is a reason to try a lower quality; it does not prove why this particular live stream buffers. Congestion and stream conditions can also affect playback.

YouTube’s published device and system requirements page presents approximate recommendations, but its consulted material does not provide the numerical values here. The separate TV HD recommendation is 7 Mbps. Neither set of figures is an India-specific broadband study or a promise of interruption-free playback. Some playback settings belong to the broadcaster or platform, not the viewer. YouTube says lower live-stream latency may mean more playback buffering. For TV Primetime Channels, YouTube describes the Default broadcast-delay setting as the choice that minimizes playback interruptions. These controls may not apply to an ordinary viewer or be available to you.

YouTube’s live-streaming filming tips recommend an Ethernet connection for streaming from a computer. For a viewer, Ethernet can help test whether Wi-Fi instability is involved when the device can be wired near the router; it does not increase the speed provided by a low-speed broadband plan or guarantee a fix. When buffering continues
Make a short record before sending playback feedback through the YouTube app. Include the device, YouTube app or browser, connection type, speed-test result, selected quality, and whether other services buffer too. These details can help separate a connection-capacity issue from a problem confined to one device or service.
