Steam
- Open Steam Library and right-click Marvel Rivals.
- Select Properties, then Installed Files.
- Choose Verify Integrity of Game Files.

Epic Games Store

Clear the shader cache carefully
The official GPU troubleshooting guide documents clearing the GPU shader cache and explains how to start the game in GPU Debug Mode to gather crash information. Its detailed Control Panel directions are NVIDIA-specific; AMD and Intel users should follow their own vendor’s documented cache controls instead of copying that path. Some players also report that a launcher’s Clear Shader Cache control helped with grey textures, but those reports are anecdotal and do not establish a universal fix (Steam community discussion). Use an official launcher control when it is available, and give the game time to rebuild shaders before judging the result.
Can Switch Shader Compilation Mode reduce freezes?
It can help machines affected by memory pressure, especially systems with 16 GB of RAM or less, but it trades lower memory use for possible first-render anomalies. NetEase describes the mode as a way to reduce memory-related FPS drops, frozen visuals, and crashes; it does not claim that every crash is caused by shader memory.
- Open the PC launcher’s Marvel Rivals settings.
- Find Switch Shader Compilation Mode and enable it.
- Start the game and allow the first render of a map or match to finish.
- Expect a short-lived stutter or a few abnormal materials at the beginning of a match while shaders compile.
Those documented first-render artifacts are different from textures that remain absent throughout a match. On CPUs with six or fewer threads, combining this mode with AMD FSR3 Frame Generation can introduce additional stutter, so disable one of the two features if that combination makes performance worse. Why are Marvel Rivals textures low-detail or missing after an update?
First check which resource pack is installed. Marvel Rivals can use a lower-resolution pack or an optional high-resolution pack; selecting the lower-resolution files can make the game look less detailed without indicating corruption.

Steam resource-pack check
- In Steam Library, right-click Marvel Rivals and open Properties.
- Select the DLC tab.
- Look for the optional high-resolution resource pack and check it if you want the HD assets.
- Let Steam download the additional files, then relaunch the game.
An unchecked pack means Steam is using the lower-resolution pack. The HD option increases download and storage requirements; it is a fidelity choice, not a guaranteed repair for genuinely absent assets.

The developer’s May 15, 2026 announcement documents the Steam and Loading Bay choices and said Epic Games Store support was “Coming Soon.” That statement does not establish that an Epic HD-pack switch is available on October 30, 2026, so use whatever options the current Epic client actually displays rather than assuming parity (resource-pack announcement).
If the expected pack is selected and textures are still grey, invisible, or persistently low-detail, run file verification again in the same launcher. Do not treat a few abnormal materials during the first render after shader compilation as the same problem.
Which troubleshooting branch matches my symptom?
Apply the narrowest remedy that fits what you see. The table separates documented branches so that a graphics setting change does not mask a damaged installation.

Do my PC’s specifications or installation drive matter?

These figures come from Marvel Rivals’ published PC requirements (official requirements notice). Consider a compatible internal SSD only after verification and driver work, and check the interface, capacity, and free space your PC supports. Consider a RAM upgrade only when the machine is below the 16 GB minimum or when memory pressure is clearly limiting it; no evidence here supports buying a particular graphics-card model solely because an update caused a crash.

Escalate when the failure is reproducible after verification, driver maintenance, and the symptom-specific branch. A diagnostic archive gives support more useful information than a screenshot alone.
- Close Marvel Rivals completely.
- Open the game’s installation directory.
- Run
client_diagnose.exe. - Click Analyze and wait for the tool to finish.
- Send the resulting diagnostic ZIP through the official support channel on Discord.
Do not publish the diagnostic ZIP publicly because it can contain system and installation details. If support asks for GPU crash information, the GPU guide’s Start With GPU Debug Mode option can gather it, but the guide warns that debug mode may reduce performance while enabled. Follow the GPU guide and the separate diagnostic instructions provided by the developer rather than uploading random log files.
Did the October 29, 2026 patch fix these problems?
The newest patch identified here is Version 20261029, scheduled for October 29, 2026 at 09:00 UTC. Its published notes do not identify a broad fix for crashes, freezes, or missing textures, so do not assume that installing that patch alone resolves the symptoms. An August 19, 2025 announcement did describe a hotfix for some DLSS Frame Generation freezes and GPU crashes. That historical fix cannot be presented as the remedy for an October 2026 installation; the current symptom and driver state still determine the correct branch.
When is a hardware upgrade justified?
Upgrade only after software repair establishes a requirements or capacity mismatch. If the PC meets Windows 10 64-bit, DirectX 12, 16 GB RAM, and 70 GB free-space requirements, start with verification, drivers, shader handling, and resource-pack checks. A drive upgrade is reasonable when the current disk is too full, lacks the recommended SSD performance, or cannot accommodate the game and its updates; it is not a substitute for repairing a bad download.
For a machine below the published memory minimum, adding compatible RAM can address a genuine requirement gap. For an Intel 13th- or 14th-generation “Out of Video Memory” error, BIOS or manufacturer guidance comes before replacing the GPU. Reproducible failures on a compliant system should be escalated with diagnostics rather than used to justify an arbitrary component purchase.
