When a Hostinger AI Builder contact form fails, troubleshoot in this order: publish the site and verify the domain connection, check the correct Test data or Live data view, confirm the notification recipient and mailbox, then repair DNS email authentication if you use a custom-domain address. For a submit error, use Ask to Fix, restore the last working version, and only then inspect browser Network and Console logs.
This guide applies to forms using Hostinger AI Builder’s integrated backend and built-in email delivery. Older projects may still use Supabase, which has a different setup path.
Start with the symptom, not the form code
Most apparent contact-form failures are configuration or viewing problems rather than a broken form. Use the symptom that matches what you see and take the first action in this table.

Work through one branch at a time. A successful row in the data collection proves that the form stored the submission; an email arriving proves notification delivery. They are separate checks.

Know which backend your project uses
Newer agentic-mode forms use Hostinger’s integrated backend and built-in email infrastructure. You do not have to create a separate mail-service account for the native notification path. Hostinger describes the feature as including built-in email sending, so no external email service or account setup is needed.
Projects created before that integrated backend was introduced may instead use Supabase as an external backend. In that case, the collection, authentication, database policies, and mail workflow are controlled by the Supabase setup, not by the native agentic-mode runbook in this article. Identify the backend before changing records or prompts; changing native settings will not repair a Supabase connection.
Native storage and notification flow
- A visitor completes the form on the published site.
- AI Builder writes the record to the form’s collection in its integrated backend.
- The built-in mail system sends a notification to the explicitly configured recipient.
- The stored record is visible in the collection’s Live data view.
Preview uses the same form design but a different data partition. A submission made in the editor’s Preview mode is deliberately stored under Test data; it is not evidence that a real visitor’s record is missing from Live data.

1. Publish the current site
Open the AI Builder editor and click Publish in the top-right. Editing or previewing a form does not put the latest version on the public site. After publishing, load the public URL in a new tab and test the page as a visitor.
2. Check the domain connection
For an externally managed domain, Hostinger’s AI Builder connection path requires a CNAME. It does not support A or AAAA records for this connection method. If your nameservers remain with a provider such as Cloudflare or GoDaddy, add the CNAME that Hostinger gives you at that provider and remove conflicting records only when Hostinger’s domain instructions tell you to do so. An A or AAAA record pointing at a server may leave the domain resolving somewhere else even though the builder itself is correctly published.

Allow DNS changes to take effect, then test the exact hostname used by visitors. Check both the bare domain and the www hostname if you use both; each can resolve differently. Do not diagnose a form request until the page you are testing is definitely the newly published AI Builder site.
3. Eliminate a stale browser copy
Clear the site’s cached assets, or open the URL in an incognito/private window. A cached page can display an earlier design with no form, while the current published version contains it. Test from a second browser or device if possible to distinguish browser caching from a publication problem.
4. Check an embedded Hostinger Reach form
If the page contains a Hostinger Reach form rather than a native AI Builder form, open Reach and verify that the form status is Activated. The AI Builder prompt must include both required Reach code snippets. If either snippet was left out, the page can render without a working embedded form even though the surrounding site is published.
Where contact-form submissions are stored
Use the editor’s data controls instead of relying on email as proof that a submission worked.
- Open the AI Builder project.
- Turn on the Data toggle.
- Select the collection used by the form, commonly named Contact Submissions.
- Choose Test data to see submissions made in Preview.
- Choose Live data to see submissions made by visitors on the published site.
Hostinger explicitly separates these views: Preview mode submissions are saved under Test data, while real visitor submissions appear under Live data. A test row in Test data therefore does not belong in Live data, and a live row will not appear in Test data.

If Live data remains empty
- Confirm that you submitted the published URL, not the editor Preview pane.
- Check that the public page is connected to the same project and collection you are viewing.
- Publish again after any field or collection change.
- Submit a new, distinctive value so you can identify the row.
- If the editor reports an error, follow the submit-error procedure below rather than repeatedly refreshing the data view.
When the form submits but no email arrives
Confirm the recipient was configured
The native notification workflow needs an explicit recipient address. Include the address when creating the form, or add it later through an AI Builder prompt. A form can successfully write a Live data row without sending a notification if no recipient was defined.

Use the exact mailbox you intend to monitor, including the correct domain spelling. If you changed the address in a prompt, publish the updated project before testing again.
Run a controlled test
- Open the form in Preview.
- Enter a unique value such as a timestamp in the message field.
- Submit once.
- Confirm the new row appears under the collection’s Test data tab.
- Check the configured recipient’s inbox and spam or junk folders.
This sequence distinguishes a storage problem from a delivery problem. If the row is present but the message is not, focus on the mailbox and DNS checks. If no row is created, return to the submit-error branch.
Verify the mailbox itself
For a custom-domain recipient, make sure the mailbox is active and can receive other messages. Confirm that the domain’s MX records point to the service hosting the mailbox. An inactive mailbox or incorrect MX records can make a perfectly delivered notification appear to vanish.
Repair SPF, DKIM, and DMARC when custom mail is involved
Mail authentication policies can reject or quarantine automated messages. At your DNS provider, check the domain’s SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records according to the mailbox provider’s requirements. Hostinger states that only one SPF TXT record is allowed. If an SPF record already exists, do not publish a second one; append include:_spf.mail.hostinger.com to the existing SPF value instead.

DNS edits are not instantaneous. Allow up to 24 hours for propagation before deciding that a corrected SPF record failed. During that window, test from the mailbox’s web interface and check spam folders rather than changing the record repeatedly.
Native delivery versus a separate automation service
Native agentic-mode notifications are intended for straightforward alerts to a configured recipient. Hostinger Reach is the adjacent product for triggered emails and broader campaign or autoresponder workflows. Choose the native path when a submission notification is enough; consider Reach when you need a form-triggered sequence or campaign-style automation. A Reach workflow has its own activation and embed requirements, so it is not a drop-in repair for a native form that is merely missing a recipient.
When visitors see an error after clicking Submit
Use Ask to Fix first
In the AI Builder Preview pane, click Ask to Fix and describe the exact action that produces the error. Include the field values or validation state that trigger it, but do not paste passwords or other sensitive data. Let the builder apply the proposed repair, then submit a fresh test and inspect the collection.
Restore the last working version
If the generated change introduces another failure, restore the last working version from the AI Builder chat history. Restoring is safer than layering more prompts onto a broken workflow because it returns the form and its data configuration to a known state. Reapply one change at a time and test after each publication.

- Open the browser’s Inspect or Developer Tools panel.
- Select the Network tab and keep it recording.
- Select the Console tab as well, if your browser allows both views.
- Submit the form again to reproduce the error.
- Identify the failed request, including its URL, request payload, and response message.
- Copy the relevant error details into a new AI Builder prompt and ask for a targeted fix.
The failed request URL shows which endpoint was called; the payload reveals whether field names or values were malformed; and the response message often identifies permission, validation, or backend failures. Share only the minimum diagnostic data needed and redact personal information.

A reliable setup and test sequence
Starting with a deliberate prompt reduces ambiguity about fields, storage, and delivery. State the form fields, the collection name, and the notification recipient together.
- In AI Builder agentic mode, describe every required field, the collection name (for example,
Contact Submissions), and the full recipient email address. - Ask the builder to create or update the form and notification workflow.
- Open Preview and submit a test entry.
- Open Data, select the collection, and confirm that the entry appears under Test data.
- Check the recipient mailbox, including spam or junk.
- Publish from the top-right of the editor.
- Open the public domain and submit a different test entry as a visitor.
- Return to the collection and confirm that the new entry appears under Live data.
Do not use the Preview result as proof that the published form works. The live test validates publication, domain routing, live storage, and notification delivery together.
Understand the 500-email daily limit
Hostinger documents a limit of up to 500 emails per day for an AI Builder project. The count includes form notifications and other automated emails sent by that project, not just messages from one form. Treat the number as a project-wide ceiling: multiple forms, autoresponders, and other automations share it.
If notifications stop after unusually high activity, inspect the day’s total before changing the form. Reduce duplicate automations, avoid sending a separate message for every internal step, and move campaign-style workflows to an appropriate automation product when the native limit or feature set is not sufficient. The limit is not evidence that the form’s database write failed; check Live data separately.

The table’s distinctions matter when you choose a fix. A CNAME change can solve a native domain connection, but it will not repair a Supabase policy. Conversely, changing a native recipient prompt will not activate a Reach form that is disabled.
Final diagnostic checklist
- Page visibility: the current AI Builder version is published, the tested URL resolves to that version, and the browser cache is bypassed.
- Domain: an externally managed domain uses the required CNAME; you are not relying on unsupported A or AAAA records for this connection path.
- Backend: you know whether the project uses Hostinger’s integrated backend or legacy Supabase.
- Storage: you selected the correct collection and the correct Test data or Live data tab.
- Recipient: an exact notification address was included in the form configuration or a later AI prompt.
- Mailbox: the mailbox is active, MX records are correct, and spam or junk folders were checked.
- Authentication: SPF, DKIM, and DMARC are appropriate for the custom domain; there is only one SPF TXT record, with
include:_spf.mail.hostinger.comappended when required. - Propagation: DNS changes have had up to 24 hours to propagate.
- Errors: Ask to Fix was tried, the last working version is available in chat history, and persistent failures have Network and Console details.
- Capacity: total project email volume is below the documented 500-per-day limit.
This order prevents a common mistake: changing email DNS when the form was never published, or debugging the database when the only issue is that Preview data is being viewed instead of Live data.
