For a straightforward full-page screenshot, Firefox’s built-in Take Screenshot tool is usually enough: it can capture the full page, a visible area, a selected region, or a highlighted page element, then save the image or copy it. FireShot is worth considering when you need its documented editing tools, PDF options, or batch and multi-tab workflows. Neither tool is established here as universally more accurate or faster.
Firefox vs. FireShot at a glance
| Need | Firefox built-in | FireShot |
|---|---|---|
| Full-page capture | Save full page in the Screenshots interface; Developer Tools also provide a full-page route. | Full-page capture is an advertised feature. |
| Partial capture | Capture the visible area, select a region, or choose a highlighted page element. | Offers visible-area and selected-area capture. |
| Output | Save the screenshot image or copy it to the clipboard. | The vendor lists PDF and image exports, clipboard, email, and other destinations. |
| Editing | Mozilla’s documented workflow covers capture, save, and copy; it does not describe a post-capture editor. | The vendor describes crop, resize, highlight, blur, erase, text, arrows, and shapes; availability can vary by edition and environment. |
| Repeated captures | Developer Tools offer configurable console capture options; the built-in support workflow describes individual captures. | The vendor advertises all-tabs and batch capture, plus API integration. |
| Cost | Included in Firefox; Mozilla’s workflow does not describe an additional purchase. | Lite is offered free; the FireShot purchase page listed Pro at $39.95 yearly or $99.95 lifetime when accessed 2026-10-03. Verify current prices and feature availability before buying. |
These are documented capabilities, not a side-by-side performance test. Choose based on the capture and output workflow you need, rather than assuming one tool produces more faithful screenshots.
How do I take a full-page screenshot in Firefox?
- Open the webpage in Firefox.
- Right-click an empty part of the page and choose Take Screenshot. Alternatively, press Ctrl + Shift + S on Windows or Linux, or Command + Shift + S on macOS.
- Choose Save full page. Choose Save visible for the current viewport, or select a region or highlighted page element for a smaller capture.
- Save the image to Firefox’s download location or copy it to the clipboard.
Mozilla also documents adding a Screenshot button to the toolbar as another way to open the capture interface. Labels and availability can change between Firefox versions.
Use Developer Tools for configurable captures
Firefox Developer Tools provide another route: enable the screenshot toolbox button, or use the :screenshot helper in the Web Console. Documented options include --fullpage, --delay, --dpr, --filename, and --selector. These options let you request a full-page capture, wait before capturing, set device-pixel ratio, choose a filename, or target a CSS selector. See Firefox’s Web Console helper documentation for syntax and details.

What FireShot adds
FireShot’s product pages describe full-page, visible-area, and selected-area captures, as well as capturing all open tabs and batch capture. Its listed editor features include resizing, cropping, highlighting, blurring, erasing, and adding text annotations. The vendor also lists PDF output, including direct links and searchable text, plus PNG, GIF, JPEG, and BMP image formats, clipboard copying, email, and export to OneNote or another program. Treat these as vendor-published capabilities: availability may vary by edition and operating environment. See FireShot’s product page.
FireShot’s comparison page presents Lite as a starting point for webpage captures and Pro as adding broader editing, saving/loading, and advanced capture capabilities. It lists distinctions such as PDF functions, searchable/selectable/copyable text, combining all tabs into one PDF, editing tools, FTP/HTTP upload, and history depth. Because the feature table is not clearly rendered in every cell in the available page text, check the current comparison or app to confirm whether a specific feature is included in Lite or requires Pro. The comparison page states a seven-day money-back period; a separate usage guide describes a ten-day Pro trial. Those are different terms, so confirm current trial and refund terms rather than treating them as interchangeable.

Do you need FireShot if Firefox already has full-page screenshots?
- Firefox is likely enough if you want an occasional full-page or partial screenshot, and saving or copying the resulting image meets your needs.
- Consider FireShot if its editor, annotation or blur tools, PDF-oriented output, batch or multi-tab capture, or integrations fit a workflow you actually use.
- Use Developer Tools when you want Firefox’s documented capture options, such as a delay, device-pixel ratio, filename, or CSS selector.
The FireShot price page listed Pro at $39.95 per year or $99.95 for a lifetime license when accessed 2026-10-03. Those are dated vendor-listed prices, not guaranteed current offers. Check the live purchase page for current pricing and confirm the edition boundary for any feature you need.
Can you save a Firefox full-page screenshot as a PDF?
Mozilla’s reviewed Take Screenshot workflow documents saving an image or copying it to the clipboard, not exporting directly to PDF. FireShot’s product materials list PDF export features, though exact availability can depend on edition and environment. If you only need a PDF occasionally, another option is to print the webpage to PDF through the browser’s print interface; that produces a print-layout document rather than necessarily a pixel-for-pixel screenshot. Check the print preview, since page breaks and layout can differ from the screen.

Which tool lets you annotate or blur a screenshot?
FireShot describes an editor with annotation and blur tools, along with crop, resize, highlight, erase, text, arrows, and shapes. Firefox’s documented Screenshots workflow covers capture, save, and copy but does not describe an equivalent built-in post-capture editor. Confirm the FireShot edition that includes the particular editing feature before relying on it.
Privacy considerations
Mozilla says Firefox Screenshots collects interaction data, such as whether you use Copy or Save full page, but does not collect the URL or details of the captured image. Mozilla also documents a setting pathway related to Do Not Track and website data collection; consult the current support page for its wording and controls. FireShot’s product page describes captures as local and says the product has zero cloud dependency. These statements come from their respective publishers and are not independent privacy audits.
