Firefox already includes a full-page Screenshots tool, so try that first if you only need to save a page or copy it to the clipboard. If you need developer controls, PDF export, annotation, or a different privacy model, Firefox DevTools and several add-ons offer alternatives. The right choice depends on the workflow; the feature descriptions below come from Mozilla or each project’s own documentation, not comparative hands-on testing.
Try Firefox’s built-in Screenshots first
Firefox Screenshots can capture the full page or just the visible area, then save the image or copy it to the clipboard. Mozilla’s current help page explains the workflow and how to add the Screenshots control to the toolbar. Interface placement and settings can vary by Firefox version, so consult Mozilla’s Firefox Screenshots instructions if the control is not where you expect.
This is the simplest starting point for a one-off capture when you do not need PDF output or editing tools. If you need more control over a capture, try DevTools before adding an extension.
Use Firefox DevTools for more control
Technical users can capture a full page without installing an add-on. Firefox’s DevTools documentation describes two routes: enable the screenshot button in the toolbox, or use the Web Console’s :screenshot --fullpage helper. The helper supports a delay, filename, device-pixel ratio, and CSS selector options; see Firefox’s screenshot documentation for syntax and details.

Choose by the job you need to do
- Basic page image: start with Firefox Screenshots; it covers full-page and visible-area capture without an add-on.
- Capture controls: use DevTools when delay, device-pixel ratio, filename, or selector control matters.
- PDF or several capture modes: compare GoFullPage and FireShot’s documented formats and upgrade boundaries before installing.
- Annotation or blur: compare the editing features each extension documents; do not assume a feature is free when the listing describes it as premium or professional.
- Local-processing preference: OpenCapture may suit you, but treat its privacy statements as project claims rather than an independent audit.
- Long or dynamic pages: test the exact page you need to capture. No option here has been independently tested on sample pages, and a successful capture should not be assumed for every page.

If you need screenshots as part of a developer workflow, ScreenshotNeo is a website screenshot API and MCP server. One GET request returns an image or PDF; its clean-shot workflow accepts cookie/consent banners and removes more than 60 known consent platforms, newsletter popups, and chat widgets before capture. Those steps can be turned off. Bot checks, blank pages, timeouts, failed loads, and cache hits cost nothing, and response headers identify the page verdict and whether the request was billed. AI agents can use its MCP tools: take_screenshot, get_page_info, and capture_pdf.
