Naoki Hamaguchi says separate teams are handling gameplay and optimization for Final Fantasy VII Revelation, but his reassurance is not a performance guarantee: the interview published no benchmarks, system requirements, or platform-specific results.
What Hamaguchi said about low-spec performance
In an interview published October 1, 2026, RPG Site’s James Galizio asked Final Fantasy VII Revelation director Naoki Hamaguchi about the move to multiplatform development and fans’ concern that the game would not work on lower-spec hardware. RPG Site reported fans saying, “oh, no, this is never gonna work on low spec hardware. There’s no way!”
Hamaguchi described the development setup this way: “The team setup is such that we can have a segment of the team focus exclusively on the gameplay elements, and leave all the optimization work to a whole other team that are all very talented people.” He also said: “To see all this doubt is disappointing, because as we have explained many times across just as many interviews, we have separate teams dedicated to focusing on the gameplay and a team dedicated to optimizing everything. Please, just believe us!”
Those remarks explain how Hamaguchi says the work is divided and express his confidence in the optimization team. They are not test results or a promise that every version will meet a particular performance standard.

What the interview does—and does not—establish
The interview does not give frame-rate targets, resolutions, PC system requirements, or benchmark results for any platform. It therefore cannot establish how the game performs on Steam Deck, Xbox Series S, or other lower-spec hardware, nor support a performance ranking among platforms.

Reported release platforms and date
At the time RPG Site published its interview on October 1, 2026, it reported Final Fantasy VII Revelation was scheduled for release on April 8, 2027, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam. That is the release status reported at that time, not a guarantee that the date or platform lineup cannot change.
