For most PC players, the best starting point in Final Fantasy Resonance is native display resolution, High textures, post-processing, anti-aliasing and shadows, with a sustainable 60 FPS cap. If performance drops, lower Shadows to Middle before reducing the other quality settings. If the diorama image looks too soft, try Post-Processing: Middle; it is a preference change, not a confirmed depth-of-field switch. On Steam Deck, use 720p High with Shadows at Middle for a steadier 60 FPS. On consoles, there are no quality modes to tune: PS5 and Xbox Series X are the sharpest, Switch 2 targets 60 FPS with softer filtering, Switch 1 runs at 30 FPS, and Series S renders internally at about 720p.
Three gameplay changes are worth making immediately on any platform: set Text Speed to Instant, Sprint Type to Invert Sprint, and Autosave to On. During battles, press the platform’s battle-speed button twice to reach 3× speed.

What are the best PC graphics settings?
Use the following order: choose the monitor’s native resolution, select Fullscreen (or Borderless Windowed if you frequently alt-tab), set the four quality controls to High, and cap the game at 60 FPS. This preserves the miniature-diorama presentation while giving the GPU a realistic target. Move Shadows to Middle first if 60 FPS is not sustainable; only then consider lowering other rows.

| Setting | Starting value | When to change it |
|---|---|---|
| Resolution | Display native resolution | Use a lower output only when the GPU cannot hold the chosen frame-rate target. Output resolution alone does not prove the game’s internal render resolution. |
| Screen Mode | Fullscreen | Use Borderless Windowed for frequent app switching; Windowed is useful for a smaller desktop window. |
| Brightness | Adjust for the room | The slider runs from 0 to 10 and has an Advanced screen. Do not raise it to compensate for a washed-out monitor profile. |
| FPS | 60 | Use 120 or 144 only when the system and display have headroom. A steady 30 is preferable to uneven frame delivery. |
| VSync | Display-dependent | Use VRR (G-Sync or FreeSync) according to your display’s normal setup. On a fixed-refresh display, VSync can remove tearing; disabling it can reduce latency but may expose tearing. |
| Textures | High | Try Max only when memory capacity and frame pacing remain comfortable. |
| Post-Processing | High | Try Middle if the image feels overly soft. This is not a verified depth-of-field-off setting. |
| Anti-Aliasing | High | Lower only after the frame-rate target and shadow setting have been addressed. |
| Shadows | High | Use Middle as the first performance cut. Launch guidance and Steam Deck reporting use this lever, but no Windows setting-by-setting benchmark establishes it as universally most expensive. |
The game has no DLSS, FSR, XeSS, field-of-view slider, ray-tracing switch, HDR switch, motion-blur toggle, depth-of-field toggle or native ultrawide mode. The short menu is deliberate: resolution, display mode, brightness, frame-rate limit, VSync and four independent quality rows are the available controls.

How do I configure Final Fantasy Resonance on a PC?
- Open Options from the System menu and enter the Graphics tab.
- Set Resolution to the monitor’s native 16:9 value when it appears in the list. The menu starts at 1280×720 and includes 4K output modes.
- Choose Fullscreen. Select Borderless Windowed instead if switching to other applications is more important than exclusive fullscreen behavior.
- Set Textures, Post-Processing, Anti-Aliasing and Shadows to High.
- Set FPS to 60 and play a demanding area. A cap is a limit, not a guarantee of even 16.67 ms frame delivery.
- If frames dip, change Shadows from High to Middle and reassess before lowering the other three rows.
- If motion is already stable but the picture looks too cinematic, change Post-Processing to Middle. Keep whichever presentation you prefer; the game does not document this as a DoF disable.
- Use 120 or 144 FPS only with a suitable display and clear headroom. Turn-based combat makes the higher cap a smoothness bonus rather than a requirement.
What hardware does the official PC specification require?
Square Enix’s Steam listing specifies Windows 11 64-bit, DirectX 12 and 15 GB of storage. The minimum target is 1920×1080 at 30 FPS on the Low preset; the recommended target is 1920×1080 at 60 FPS on the Highest preset. Both columns list 8 GB of RAM, an Intel Core i3-8100, Intel Arc A580 and GeForce GTX 1650. The minimum AMD entries are Ryzen 3 2300X and Radeon RX 6400; the recommended AMD entries are Ryzen 5 2500X and Radeon RX 5500 XT. Denuvo Anti-tamper is disclosed on the store page.
Should I lower Post-Processing to remove blur or depth of field?
Only if you prefer a crisper image. The selective focus is part of the advertised HD-2D diorama style, and the Graphics tab has no separate DoF control. Moving Post-Processing from High to Middle may look sharper to some players, but neither the retail menu nor the cited launch coverage verifies it as an off switch.
Digital Foundry’s William Judd described the image as clean, without the shimmering, temporal anti-aliasing artifacts or intrusive noise often associated with Unreal Engine projects. That assessment is consistent with treating the softness as an artistic effect first, not a fault to eliminate.
Can I force native 4K or disable effects with GameUserSettings.ini?
Unofficial configuration packs circulated during the demo and after launch edit %LOCALAPPDATA%FFRSSavedConfigWindowsGameUserSettings.ini. They commonly force 3840×2160, change Unreal scalability values, disable motion blur or depth of field, set anisotropic filtering to 16 and add ray-tracing keys.
Those files are not a validated retail solution. A single-author claim that the game was not rendering at true 3840×2160 is not an independent measurement, and PCGamingWiki lists ray tracing as absent from the game’s video feature set. Injecting ray-tracing keys into the file can therefore add unsupported variables without creating a documented feature. Use the in-game sliders first and back up the file before making any manual change.

Output resolution is also not proof of internal rendering resolution. No published Windows setting-by-setting test establishes the internal behavior of every 4K mode, so judge the result by image quality and frame pacing rather than by a configuration value alone.
Does Final Fantasy Resonance support ultrawide monitors?
There is no native ultrawide support. Digital Foundry specifically noted its absence. A community Ultrawide Mod is recorded for 32:9, 24:10, 21:9 and 16:10 layouts, but it is not an in-game option and can require maintenance after updates. If you stay unmodded, use a supported 16:9 resolution and expect unused screen space or scaling on wider panels.

Steam Deck is officially Verified, with Valve’s checks covering controller configuration, Deck button prompts, readable text and a default configuration that performs well. The first launch requires an internet connection. On an OLED model, cap the display to 60 Hz because the game cannot sustain 90 FPS consistently.
Locked-60 recommendation
- Leave the Deck’s 1280×720 output and the game’s High defaults in place.
- Set Textures, Post-Processing and Anti-Aliasing to High.
- Change Shadows to Middle. RPG Site’s full-game report identifies this as the fix for dips during heavy spell-particle effects.
- Use a 60 FPS cap and, on OLED, set the panel to 60 Hz.
RPG Site reported that High settings are almost always above 60 FPS but can fall into the 50s during large spell effects. Max settings were reported at about 40 FPS. A 40 FPS LCD or 45 FPS OLED setup is possible with shadow adjustments, but the same report recommends the 60 FPS profile for normal play.
Docked and controller notes
If a docked external controller is ignored, open the Deck Quick Access Menu and switch the active controller. The game supports the default Deck layout and Steam Input. Save files are stored under %LOCALAPPDATA%FFRSSteam<SteamID> on Windows, with GameSaveDataN.sav and OptionSaveData.sav; Steam Cloud is enabled.

How do the other handhelds compare?
| Device | Practical setup | Published observations |
|---|---|---|
| ROG Ally | 1080p High | RPG Site described it as the best portable picture in its comparison; VRR hides dips. |
| Steam Deck | 720p High, Shadows Middle, 60 FPS | High is generally above 60 FPS, with particle-heavy dips into the 50s. |
| Switch 2 | 60 FPS target | Similar gameplay pixel count to Deck and 1080p menus, but softer floor filtering, fewer subtle particles and minor weather-related dips. |
| Switch 1 | 30 FPS | The weakest portable presentation and slower area transitions; RPG Site measured roughly twice the transition time of Switch 2. |
| AYN Thor via GameNative | Not recommended | RPG Site reported instability, long loads and random crashes as of 20 October 2026. |
Published load measurements from RPG Site put dashboard-to-title/save-loading times at approximately 26/5 seconds on Switch 1, 11/3–4 seconds on Switch 2, 10–11/4 seconds for the Switch 1 version running on Switch 2, 22/2–3 seconds on Steam Deck, 12–13/2–3 seconds on ROG Ally and 45–48/7–8 seconds on AYN Thor. These are source-reported platform measurements, not universal guarantees.

Which console has the best graphics settings?
Current console versions expose only Brightness, so the platform determines image quality. Game8 lists a default brightness of 5; adjust it to the room rather than expecting a performance mode.
PS5 and Xbox Series X
Digital Foundry measured approximately 1440p internal resolution with a crisp 4K user interface and a target near 60 FPS. These versions offer the strongest combination of sharpness and effects among consoles.
Xbox Series S
Series S keeps higher-end effects but renders internally at about 720p and drops the 4K interface. Digital Foundry reported 60 FPS, yet described the low-resolution image as soft enough to distract from the pixel art and the interface as messy. If you own this model, there is no menu setting that restores Series X-level resolution.
Switch 2
Switch 2 targets 60 FPS and provides high-resolution menus, but it reduces texture filtering and omits subtle particle effects compared with PS5 and Series X. Ground surfaces therefore look softer even though the overall pixel count is similar to a Deck-style presentation.

Which control and gameplay settings should I change first?
Open System → Options → Gameplay. These changes reduce friction without altering the intended difficulty.
| Setting | Recommended value | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Text Speed | Instant | Removes the default Normal text crawl while preserving manual progression. |
| Sprint Type | Invert Sprint | Rain sprints by default; hold the control to walk. The default is Hold. |
| Autosave | On | Provides a safety net alongside manual Save Points. |
| Command Cursor Position | Remember | Keeps the battle cursor on the last command used. |
| Display Encounter Sensor | On | The mini-map warns with green, yellow and red pulses as an encounter approaches. |
| Difficulty | Casual, Normal or Expert according to preference | This is the battle-difficulty choice, not a graphics preset. |
| Additional Landing Marker | On if you want an extra cue | Without it, the airship shadow turning red is the landing signal. |
PC-only options include mouse sensitivity, cursor confinement and keyboard/gamepad remapping. Console versions add Switch Confirm Button, which swaps Confirm and Cancel; that option is not present on PC.

What controllers and remapping options work on PC?
The PC release has Full Controller Support, Steam Input API support and XInput compatibility. Xbox controllers follow the standard XInput path. DualSense support is documented through a wired USB connection on the Steam page; wireless behavior is not promised by that listing.
The Keyboard and Gamepad tabs divide remappable actions into General UI/Main Menu, Battle, Field and Events. Look specifically for Change Battle Speed, Libra Details, Display Unit Info, Quick Heal, Track Quest, Toggle Mini-Map, Mysidia Radar, Auto, Skip and Display Log. PCGamingWiki notes that some inputs cannot be remapped on either keyboard or controller, so a missing binding is not necessarily a configuration error.
How should I set audio and language options?
The Audio tab provides Master, Music, SFX, Voice and Ambience sliders from 0 to 10; each defaults to 10. The language menus support English, Japanese, German, French, Spanish, Korean, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese for text, with Japanese and English voice options. Steam’s listing identifies English UI, audio and subtitles plus French, German, Spanish (Spain) and Simplified Chinese in its displayed language table; the full menu contains the wider set.
What should I check when the picture or controls seem wrong?
- Soft image: confirm output resolution first, then compare Post-Processing High and Middle. Do not assume Middle disables DoF or that a 4K output label proves native internal 4K.
- Frame drops: keep the 60 FPS cap, lower Shadows to Middle, and only then reduce other quality rows.
- Tearing: enable VSync on a fixed-refresh display or configure the game’s cap with your VRR setup. There is no universal On/Off answer for every monitor.
- OLED Deck instability at 90 Hz: set the panel to 60 Hz and use the locked-60 profile.
- Controller not responding while docked: select the active controller in the Deck Quick Access Menu.
- Battle speed seems missing: enter an encounter and use the lower-left prompt; it is not in System → Options.
- Ultrawide bars or cropping: native support is absent. A community mod exists, but it is separate from the retail graphics menu.
- Long first launch on Deck: an internet connection is required for the first Steam Deck launch.
How we picked these settings
The recommendations prioritize the game’s official 1080p targets, the complete retail Graphics and Gameplay menus, Digital Foundry’s platform observations, RPG Site’s full-game handheld reporting and the practical trade-off between image quality, frame pacing and control convenience. Where sources disagree, the article keeps the uncertainty visible: VSync depends on the display, Post-Processing Middle is a taste adjustment rather than a verified DoF switch, and no Windows setting-by-setting FPS ranking has been published.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Final Fantasy Resonance have a 120 FPS mode on PC?
Yes. The PC menu offers 30, 60, 120, 144 and Unlimited caps. Choose 120 or 144 only when your monitor and hardware can maintain that rate; the game does not include a separate high-refresh preset.
Is there HDR support in Final Fantasy Resonance?
The retail PC Graphics tab does not list an HDR switch. Brightness is the only display adjustment exposed on consoles, so HDR behavior should not be expected as a configurable in-game feature.
Where are Final Fantasy Resonance save files stored on Windows?
The Windows save directory is %LOCALAPPDATA%FFRSSteam<SteamID>. It contains files such as GameSaveDataN.sav and OptionSaveData.sav; Steam Cloud is enabled.
Can the demo save transfer to the full game?
Yes. The Steam listing states that save data from the free chapter-one demo carries into the full game. This applies to the Windows Steam release described by that listing.
