FastComet is the stronger fit for site owners who need cPanel, a choice of international data-centre locations, assisted migration and a clearly stated 99.9% uptime target. iPage is the easier starting point for beginners who want a guided WordPress package with pre-installed themes and plugins, unlimited storage and bandwidth, and documented 24/7 WordPress support.
That is a fit-based verdict, not a speed benchmark. No controlled September 2026 test measured both hosts under identical hardware, software, traffic and geographic conditions, so neither service can honestly be declared the universal performance winner. Your decision should start with renewal cost, WordPress workflow, control-panel needs, migration requirements and the add-ons you will actually buy.
FastComet vs iPage at a glance
| Decision factor | FastComet | iPage | Best fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Published entry pricing | Hosting advertised from $1.99 per month for the introductory term; regular renewal rate is not stated on the cited promotional page. | WP Starter from $3.75 per month and WP Essential from $6.95 per month for the introductory term. | Compare the complete first term and renewal bill rather than the headline rate. |
| Renewal documentation | The promotional price applies to the first term and renews at the regular rate. | WP Starter renews at $7.49, $8.49, $9.49 or $10.49 per month for 36-, 24-, 12-month or monthly terms. WP Essential renews at $10.49, $11.49, $12.49 or $12.49 for those terms. | iPage is easier to budget because its listed renewal figures are explicit. |
| Control panel | cPanel is advertised on all plans. | The reviewed iPage material emphasizes its shared-hosting and WordPress workflow rather than an equivalent current cPanel promise. | FastComet for conventional cPanel administration. |
| WordPress onboarding | App marketplace and cPanel-oriented management. | Pre-installed themes and plugins, free SSL support and 24/7 WordPress support are listed for the documented onboarding offer. | iPage for a first WordPress site with guided setup. |
| Storage and bandwidth | The cited promotional page does not state an unlimited allowance. | The onboarding page lists unlimited storage and bandwidth for the documented WordPress offer. | iPage when those published allowances match your usage and the plan terms. |
| Locations | More than 12 advertised data centres and location selection. | The reviewed pages do not provide an equivalent current data-centre list. | FastComet when visitor geography matters. |
| Availability wording | Server-maintenance policy says, “We target a 99.9% uptime level,” with scheduled-maintenance and causes-beyond-control exceptions. | No equivalent uptime target is established in the reviewed material. | FastComet for a published target, while treating it as a policy statement rather than measured uptime. |
| Migration | Express Transfer and free one-year domain renewal after transfer are advertised. | The reviewed onboarding material does not document an equivalent migration incentive. | FastComet for a move from another host. |
Both services can host a small business site or blog, but they reduce different kinds of friction. FastComet gives experienced users familiar infrastructure choices. iPage bundles beginner-oriented WordPress conveniences. The right answer changes if you are moving an existing site, hosting visitors in several regions, or trying to minimize the bill after the introductory term.
What each host costs after the introductory term
FastComet: low advertised entry price, unspecified renewal figure
FastComet advertises hosting from $1.99 per month. The offer applies to the first term and renews at the regular rate. Because the cited offer does not publish that regular figure, you should treat $1.99 as an acquisition price, not as a forecast of your long-term monthly cost. Before paying, place the exact plan and billing period in the cart and record the renewal amount shown at checkout.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
The same offer advertises cPanel on every plan, 24/7 support, more than 12 data-centre locations, free one-year domain renewal after a transfer and Express Transfer. Those inclusions may have value that offsets a higher renewal bill for a site owner who would otherwise pay for migration help or move a domain separately.
iPage WP Starter and WP Essential renewal schedule
iPage publishes renewal prices for its documented WordPress plans. The figures below are monthly equivalents for the selected renewal term, not one-time totals.
| Plan | 36-month renewal | 24-month renewal | 12-month renewal | Monthly renewal |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| WP Starter | $7.49/month | $8.49/month | $9.49/month | $10.49/month |
| WP Essential | $10.49/month | $11.49/month | $12.49/month | $12.49/month |
For context, a full 36-month renewal at the listed WP Starter rate is $269.64 before tax or optional products; WP Essential at its 36-month rate is $377.64. A 12-month WP Starter renewal is $113.88, while WP Essential is $149.88. These calculations simply multiply the published monthly-equivalent rates by the number of months; your invoice can differ if taxes, domains or add-ons are charged separately.
iPage introductory offer and the add-on trap
The onboarding page lists introductory prices from $3.75 per month for WP Starter and $6.95 per month for WP Essential. It also lists free SSL, one-year domain registration, unlimited storage and bandwidth, pre-installed themes and plugins, and 24/7 WordPress support. The regular-rates documentation states that introductory prices apply only to the first term and automatically renew at regular rates.

- 5-in-1 USB-C Hub: Experience comprehensive connectivity featuring a Power Delivery input, two USB-A 2.0 ports, a USB-A 3.0 port, and an HDMI port. (Note: The USB-C power delivery input port is only for connecting an external wall charger to power your laptop and cannot power peripheral devices.)
- 90W Pass-Through Charging: Achieve optimal charging with 90W pass-through power to your laptop, supported by a total input of 100W, with the hub reserving 10W for operational efficiency. (Note: Wall charger not included.)
- Quick Data Transfers: Accelerate your productivity with rapid data transfers using a high-speed 5Gbps USB 3.0 port and two 480Mbps USB 2.0 ports.
- 4K HDMI Display: Enhance your visual experience with a hub capable of delivering 4K resolution at 30Hz in both mirror and extend modes. Please note that this hub is compatible with MacBook (macOS 12 and newer), Windows 10 and 11, ChromeOS, and laptops equipped with DP Alt Mode and Power Delivery. Note: This device is not compatible with Linux.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
The same billing documentation separately lists charges for paid SSL products, backups, SiteLock and website-builder features. “Free SSL” in the onboarding description therefore does not mean every certificate tier or every security product is free. During checkout, remove optional products you do not need, then price a backup and security plan separately if your site requires them. Compare the resulting first-term and renewal totals with FastComet’s cart, not just the advertised monthly numbers.
Which host is better for WordPress beginners?
Choose iPage when guided setup is the priority
iPage’s documented WordPress workflow is designed to reduce the number of decisions a new site owner must make. Themes and plugins are pre-installed, WordPress support is available 24/7, and the listed package includes free SSL support, a one-year domain and unlimited storage and bandwidth. That combination suits a first blog, portfolio or small business site where the owner wants to start publishing rather than configure a server.
Unlimited allowances are still subject to acceptable-use rules and the practical limits of shared hosting. Large media libraries, high-volume downloads, backup archives or sudden traffic spikes can consume CPU, memory or inode resources even when the storage and bandwidth line says “unlimited.” Ask support how your intended workload is handled before migrating a busy site.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Choose FastComet when WordPress is only one application
FastComet emphasizes cPanel on all plans and an application marketplace. That is useful when you expect to host more than a single WordPress installation, create subdomains, manage email and databases directly, or install software outside a tightly guided setup. A cPanel workflow also makes common tasks recognizable to freelancers and agencies who administer multiple hosts.

- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.
- Fast and Reliable 85W Charging: Offers high-capacity, speedy charging for laptops up to 85W, so you spend less time tethered to an outlet and more time being productive.
- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
FastComet’s advantage here is control rather than a documented claim that WordPress itself runs faster. Page speed depends on the theme, plugins, database queries, image sizes, caching, traffic pattern and visitor location. The available material does not establish a controlled result that isolates those variables.
Control panel, infrastructure and visitor location
Why cPanel can matter
cPanel puts file management, databases, email accounts, DNS tools, backups and application installers in a familiar interface. If you already use cPanel, FastComet can reduce the learning curve during a move. It can also simplify handing a site to a developer who expects standard hosting controls.
iPage’s reviewed pages describe a shared-server model and a WordPress-oriented onboarding path, but they do not establish a current, equivalent cPanel commitment or a detailed data-centre list. Do not assume that a similar-looking dashboard has the same export, cron, DNS or backup controls; verify the exact functions included in the plan you are buying.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Data-centre choice and latency
FastComet advertises more than 12 data centres and lets customers select a location. Placing the server near the majority of your visitors can reduce network round-trip time, although it cannot compensate for an unoptimized application or a slow third-party service.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
The reviewed iPage pages do not publish a comparable current location list. If geography is important, ask iPage support where the specific shared account will run and whether the location can be changed later. For a regional audience, record the answer in your project documentation before committing to a long renewal term.
What the 99.9% uptime statement really means
FastComet’s server-maintenance policy, updated 28 September 2026, says: “We target a 99.9% uptime level.” A 99.9% target corresponds to roughly 43 minutes and 50 seconds of potential unavailability in a 30-day month if interpreted mathematically, but that calculation is not a measurement of FastComet’s actual performance and is not a promise that every customer’s site will meet it.
The policy also explains that scheduled maintenance and causes beyond the company’s control can make services unavailable. Read the target as an operational objective with exceptions. If you require contractual service credits, a measured service-level agreement or a particular monitoring definition, obtain those terms in writing rather than relying on the headline percentage.

No equivalent uptime target is established in the reviewed iPage material. That absence does not prove that iPage is less reliable; it means the cited documents do not provide a directly comparable public figure. Monitor whichever host you choose with an external checker, keep an independent backup and define your own alert threshold.

- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.

Security, backups and optional products
SSL
iPage’s onboarding material lists free SSL support, while the regular-rates page lists paid SSL products as optional charges. Confirm whether the free certificate covers every domain, subdomain and renewal scenario you need, and whether installation and renewal are automatic.
FastComet’s cited promotional description does not provide a comparable SSL price breakdown. Ask which certificate is included, how renewals work and whether support will troubleshoot mixed-content errors after migration.
Backups and recovery
A backup is useful only when you can restore it. iPage’s billing documentation identifies backup as a separately priced product. Before selecting it, check retention length, backup frequency, off-site storage, per-file restoration and whether database and email data are included.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFor either host, maintain a second copy outside the hosting account. Test a restore on a staging location before a redesign or plugin update. A downloadable archive protects you if an account is suspended, a billing issue blocks access or a compromised administrator account deletes local backups.
SiteLock and website builders
iPage’s regular-rates information also lists SiteLock and website-builder charges. These can be useful for a non-technical owner, but they increase the recurring bill and may create migration work if you later move to a standard WordPress installation. Decide whether you need malware scanning, a firewall, a visual builder or simply WordPress plus a maintained theme before accepting add-ons.
Moving a domain and website without avoidable downtime
FastComet advertises Express Transfer and a free one-year domain renewal after transfer. Those incentives can reduce the administrative cost of moving, but no migration service can guarantee zero downtime when DNS, email, application versions or third-party integrations are misconfigured.
- Inventory the existing site. Record the domain registrar, DNS records, email accounts, PHP version, database engine, scheduled jobs, SSL settings, redirects, analytics and external services.
- Lower DNS time-to-live in advance. Reduce the relevant DNS TTL before the move so resolvers refresh the old address sooner. The exact propagation period still varies by resolver and cached record.
- Create the new hosting account. Choose the FastComet data-centre location if applicable, or confirm the iPage shared-server location. Keep the old account active.
- Copy files and the database. Use the host’s transfer process or a manual export. Check file permissions, database credentials, environment variables and absolute URLs.
- Test on a temporary address. Review login, forms, media, redirects, cron jobs, transactional email and HTTPS before changing public DNS. Block search indexing on the test copy if it is a duplicate.
- Freeze content briefly. For a busy site, announce a short editing freeze, take a final database export and copy uploads created since the first transfer.
- Switch DNS. Update the A, AAAA or relevant CNAME records. Keep the old host online while caches expire.
- Verify from multiple networks. Check the site over mobile data and a separate broadband connection, then inspect logs for 404 errors, failed forms and mail-delivery problems.
- Transfer the domain only after the site works. Unlock the domain, obtain its authorization code and confirm transfer-contact details. A registrar transfer is separate from changing DNS and can take longer.
- Keep a rollback plan. Preserve the old account and its DNS values until traffic, email and backups are stable for several days.
If you use iPage instead, ask support whether assisted migration is included in your selected plan and what they will move. Do not assume that a domain transfer also copies WordPress files, databases, mailboxes or DNS records.

Quick Recap
Which host should you choose?
FastComet is the better choice when you need:
- cPanel on every advertised plan.
- A choice among more than 12 advertised data-centre locations.
- Express Transfer or a free one-year domain renewal after moving.
- A published 99.9% uptime target that you understand as a qualified policy objective.
- 24/7 support for a mixed portfolio of applications rather than a single guided WordPress site.
iPage is the better choice when you need:
- A documented WordPress onboarding package with pre-installed themes and plugins.
- Unlimited storage and bandwidth as listed in the onboarding offer.
- 24/7 WordPress support for initial setup and routine questions.
- A free SSL inclusion and one-year domain registration in the advertised package.
- Published renewal prices that let you budget the post-introduction term.
Pause before buying either one when:
- Your project needs a contractual uptime guarantee, dedicated resources, custom firewall rules or compliance controls that shared hosting may not provide.
- You expect traffic or storage to grow rapidly and have not checked CPU, memory, inode and backup limits.
- You have not priced domains, SSL tiers, backups, security products and builder subscriptions for the renewal period.
- You need a speed decision based on evidence from your target country but have no representative test results.
A practical buying checklist
- Write down your audience’s primary countries and choose a location strategy.
- List every site, mailbox, database and scheduled task that must move.
- Record the first-term price, billing length, renewal rate and tax treatment shown at checkout.
- Untick optional SSL, backup, security and builder products, then add back only what your risk model requires.
- Confirm storage, bandwidth, CPU, memory, inode, email and backup limits in the plan terms.
- Ask support how migration works, what is included and whether the old host must remain online.
- Verify cancellation, refund and domain-renewal conditions before paying for a multi-year term.
- Set up independent uptime monitoring and an off-site backup on the day the site goes live.
Bottom-line decision
Pick FastComet if infrastructure control, location choice and migration assistance are worth more to you than an unpublished renewal figure. Pick iPage if you are starting with WordPress and value a guided package whose renewal prices, unlimited storage and bandwidth, pre-installed components and 24/7 WordPress support are documented. In either case, judge the offer by the renewal invoice and the complete add-on bill, not the introductory banner.
