Fast Forever, identified by the Associated Press as the 11th Fast & Furious film, is scheduled for theatrical release on March 17, 2028, according to Universal Pictures. The separate Fast & Furious series announced for Peacock is still only in development and had no premiere date in Peacock’s May 2026 announcement.

Fast Forever is the next theatrical Fast & Furious movie. Universal Pictures’ official listing confirms the title and March 17, 2028 theatrical date. The Associated Press also describes it as the franchise’s 11th installment and reports that the films had collected more than $7 billion in box office as of its 2026 report. That total is a dated report, not a permanently current lifetime figure.

The “unexpected” part of the headline is framing, not a confirmed surprise-release strategy. Universal’s listing does not establish a surprise drop, plot, complete cast, runtime, production schedule, home-video date or streaming date.

Is the Peacock show the 2028 movie?

Who is attached to the Peacock series?
Peacock names Vin Diesel and Sam Vincent of One Race Films, Neal Moritz and Pavun Shetty of Original Film, Jeff Kirschenbaum, and Chris Morgan as executive producers. Mike Daniels and Wolfe Coleman are named co-showrunners. These credits apply to the series announcement, not necessarily to the 2028 film.

Universal Pictures Home Entertainment announced a 25th-anniversary remaster of the original 2001 The Fast and the Furious for digital and disc. The disc release is scheduled for August 25, 2026 and includes 4K Ultra HD and a limited-edition 4K SteelBook. The release description mentions Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos and retrospective bonus content.
The listed 4K edition has a 1:47:00 runtime and a PG-13 rating, with English Dolby Atmos audio and listed subtitle and language options. These specifications apply only to the 2001 film’s home release; they are not details about Fast Forever.
