Eweka is a subscription service for accessing Usenet, with SSL-encrypted connections and VPN access available through some plans. Its advertised archive depth is substantial, but Eweka’s own pages currently disagree on the retention figure: its pricing page says 6,621+ days, while its account-types page says 6,058+ days. Treat those as vendor claims, not independently verified measurements, and check the live offer’s price, billing, and terms before subscribing.
What Eweka offers
Usenet is a network of newsgroups and posted articles. Eweka sells provider access to that network, rather than a physical product. Its official pricing page describes server access, retention, SSL security, VPN features, and a 30-day money-back guarantee. Those are Eweka’s advertised terms and may change; the guarantee alone does not establish which plans qualify. Eweka pricing
Eweka also promotes Newslazer, its Usenet reader. TechRadar describes the software as offering Usenet search, file previews, NZB imports, and automatic downloading and scheduling. A separate review identifies SABnzbd and NZBGet as third-party reader options. These are reported software features, not results from independent testing of Eweka’s current service. How deep is Eweka’s retention?
Retention is the length of time a provider says it keeps articles available. Eweka’s official pages do not agree: when checked for this review, the pricing page stated “6,621+ days,” and the account-types help page stated “6,058+ days.” The different figures may reflect page-update timing or context; neither should be presented as a verified completion rate or independent test result. Those are publisher-reported specifications, not a common independent measurement with a disclosed sample and method. If a particular archive depth is essential, confirm the current claim directly with Eweka before choosing a plan. Tom’s Guide’s Eweka review TechRadar’s Eweka review
Plans, price, and trial terms
Eweka’s account-types help page describes a special annual offer at €6.99 per month, billed annually, and says all plans include SSL-encrypted browsing. Because the price is an annual-billing offer, it should not be read as a monthly payment amount. Check the checkout page for the total due upfront, renewal price, offer availability, and refund eligibility. Eweka account-types help page

The same help center says, “VPN access is included with top-tier Eweka plans and can be added to others.” Eweka advertises a 30-day money-back guarantee on its pricing page, but the available terms do not establish that every plan or promotional offer qualifies. The cited pages describe a guarantee, not a separate free trial; verify the current plan-specific conditions before paying. Eweka VPN help page Eweka pricing page
SSL and VPN: what they do for privacy
SSL encrypts the connection between a newsreader and the Usenet provider. A VPN is a separate service that routes network traffic through a VPN provider and can mask the user’s IP address from the destination. Eweka markets VPN access for more secure web and Usenet browsing, with availability depending on plan or add-on. These are different protections, not interchangeable features. Eweka VPN help page

Using Newslazer, SABnzbd, or NZBGet
Newslazer may suit readers who want a provider-associated application with search, previews, NZB importing, and scheduling, as described by TechRadar. Readers who already use a third-party newsreader can consider options such as SABnzbd or NZBGet, which a separate Eweka review lists as alternatives. How to decide whether Eweka fits
Compare providers on the details that change how you will use the service, rather than choosing by a retention number or headline monthly rate alone. Tom’s Guide notes differences among services in archive search and connection counts, but those comparisons are publisher claims and should be checked against current provider terms.
