EURC currently has the clearest documented combination of MiCA compliance, one-to-one redemption, reserve disclosure and a published issuer-fee schedule. EURe is a different kind of product: a regulated electronic-money token connected to named euro IBANs and SEPA payments. EURCV is presented as MiCA-compliant but its white paper permits conditional recovery measures, including liquidity fees, daily limits and temporary redemption suspensions. EURS requires fresh verification because current primary documentation for its authorization, reserves and redemption fees is not established here.
That distinction matters. A token can be legally authorized while having limited exchange liquidity, different geographic eligibility, expensive gas, or a redemption process available only to approved customers. The comparison below separates issuer promises from trading and banking costs so you can choose a euro stablecoin for the job you actually need.

MiCA status belongs to a specific issuer and token, not to every euro-denominated stablecoin. It also does not guarantee identical fees, chain support, exchange depth or access for every customer.

What “MiCA-compliant” means for a euro token
The EU Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA, often written MiCAR) creates a harmonized framework for electronic-money tokens (EMTs) and asset-referenced tokens (ARTs). A euro token that falls within the EMT framework is generally expected to maintain the claims and operational controls required of the authorized issuer, while an ART references one or more assets and has a different regulatory structure.

For a user, the useful question is not simply whether a marketing page says “compliant.” Check four separate facts:
- Which legal entity is authorized? The authorization belongs to the issuer, and a group company or distributor may not be the entity that holds it.
- Which token and network are covered? A token symbol can appear on multiple blockchains or through wrapped representations. Confirm that the contract you hold is the issuer’s official version.
- Which geography and customer type are eligible? EEA availability, business-only access, onboarding checks and local banking rules can limit practical use even when the token is authorized.
- What does the current white paper say? Read the latest version for redemption rights, reserve custody, recovery procedures, fees and suspension conditions.
MiCA reduces regulatory uncertainty; it does not remove market, banking, technology or counterparty risk. A compliant token can still trade away from €1 on an exchange, incur high network fees, or be unavailable on the chain and venue you use.
EURC: the clearest documented reserve and redemption model
Reserves and attestations
Circle states that EURC uses a full-reserve model. Its help-center description says: “EURC is 100% backed by euros held in euro-denominated banking accounts so that it’s always redeemable 1:1 for euros.” Circle says the accounts are held with regulated EEA institutions and that it publishes public monthly attestations.
Circle displayed circulation of €397.7 million and reserves of €397.7 million on a page dated 7 September 2026. That is a point-in-time issuer display, not a permanent statement about market size or a guarantee that the supply will remain unchanged. Supply can rise or fall as customers mint and redeem.
How direct redemption works
Direct access is primarily through Circle Mint, which is aimed at qualified business and wholesale users. A retail holder who cannot open a Circle Mint account normally has to sell EURC through a supported exchange or another secondary-market venue instead; that sale is not the same as a contractual issuer redemption.
- Confirm that your organization and jurisdiction are eligible for Circle Mint and complete the required onboarding.
- Send the correct EURC contract and network to the Circle Mint deposit address. A wrong network can make recovery difficult or impossible.
- Choose standard or Express redemption when the option is available.
- Verify the euro bank-account details and submit the redemption request.
- Allow for Circle processing and the receiving bank’s settlement time, even when the product is described as near-instant.
EURC fees
Circle’s schedule distinguishes the issuer fee from all other costs. Standard redemptions have no Circle fee. Express redemptions are processed near-instantly and carry a 5 bps fee on gross redemptions from 19 October 2026. Circle may apply net-minting credits where applicable. Processing and bank settlement times still apply, so “near-instant” does not mean that funds are guaranteed to arrive in a bank account immediately.
A user selling EURC on an exchange may instead pay a trading commission, bid-ask spread, withdrawal charge and blockchain gas. Those costs are charged by the venue or network, not by Circle’s standard redemption schedule.

EURe: a euro token built around named IBANs
Issuer, reserves and legal structure
Monerium describes EURe as a euro electronic-money token issued by a licensed Electronic Money Institution and compliant with MiCA. It says every EURe token is backed 100% by high-quality liquid euro reserves held in safeguarded accounts and redeemable for euros.
“Safeguarded” is operationally important: the reserve euros are held separately under the issuer’s safeguarding arrangements rather than treated as ordinary operating cash. You should still read the current terms to understand the safeguarding institution, insolvency treatment and any claim-ranking details applicable to your jurisdiction.
Minting and burning through SEPA
EURe links a wallet to a named EUR IBAN. When euros arrive through SEPA, Monerium mints the corresponding EURe. When you send euros out, the system burns EURe and transfers euros to a bank account. This creates a bank-rail route that does not depend on finding an exchange buyer.
- Open an eligible Monerium account and complete identity and business checks if required.
- Use the named EUR IBAN shown for your account; do not substitute an unrelated deposit reference.
- Send a SEPA euro payment to mint EURe, then wait for the payment and blockchain issuance to complete.
- For cash-out, initiate an outgoing payment, specify the destination bank account and burn the required EURe amount.
- Check the selected blockchain and wallet address before signing any on-chain transfer.
Monerium says sending and receiving SEPA payments through the EURe IBAN infrastructure is free. That statement does not cover blockchain network fees, a third-party exchange’s commission or spread, or a bank’s own charges. Exchange depth also varies by chain and venue, so the IBAN route can be more predictable than selling a thinly traded market.

- You need to move euros between a bank account and a self-custodied wallet without first selling on an exchange.
- You pay or receive European suppliers by SEPA and want the on-chain balance to map to a named banking identity.
- You value a regulated EMI relationship more than access to the deepest possible exchange order book.
EURCV: MiCA presentation with conditional recovery powers
Société Générale-FORGE announced EURCV as a MiCA-compliant stablecoin. Its white paper is unusually important for risk assessment because it describes a recovery option under which redemption may become subject to a liquidity fee, a daily quantity limit, a temporary suspension of redemptions, or a change in reserve composition.
These are conditional provisions, not evidence that a suspension is occurring now. They mean that a holder should not assume that every redemption request will always be processed under an unchanged fee-free, unlimited and immediate policy.
Before acquiring EURCV, confirm:
- Whether your country and customer category are eligible.
- Which institution or platform accepts direct redemptions.
- The current fee schedule and any minimum or maximum amount.
- Whether the token is available on your preferred blockchain and whether the contract is official.
- What triggers the recovery option and how notice is delivered.
EURCV is therefore a useful institutional comparison point, but its MiCA label alone is not enough to predict your cash-out experience.

EURS: why its current status needs fresh verification
The available current primary material does not simultaneously establish EURS reserve composition, direct redemption fees and MiCA authorization. Conflicting secondary snippets are not a reliable basis for a legal or financial conclusion.

Do not state that EURS is MiCA-compliant or non-compliant without checking all three of these items:
- The latest STASIS white paper for the exact EURS token and its reserve and redemption terms.
- The relevant regulator register for the issuer’s current authorization and status.
- The issuer’s current redemption instructions, fees, minimums, eligible countries and customer requirements.
Older exchange listings or archived announcements can remain visible after a product’s access, chain support or legal status has changed. Treat “still available in Europe” as a question that must be answered for a specific country, venue and date.

Compare the all-in cost for your route. A token with a zero issuer fee can still be expensive to cash out if the exchange spread is wide or the network is congested. Conversely, a small issuer fee may be worthwhile if it gives you a direct, predictable bank transfer.
Reserves: what “fully backed” does and does not tell you
A 1:1 reserve statement addresses the intended relationship between tokens in circulation and euro assets held by or for the issuer. It does not by itself describe the exact bank names, maturity profile, custody agreements, insolvency priority, audit standard or intraday settlement process. Those details belong in the current attestation, white paper and terms.

- EURC: Circle identifies euro-denominated banking accounts at regulated EEA institutions and publishes monthly attestations.
- EURe: Monerium identifies high-quality liquid euro reserves in safeguarded accounts and states 1:1 backing.
- EURCV: Its white paper includes a recovery option that can change reserve composition, so read the current conditions rather than relying only on the headline peg.
- EURS: Current reserve composition is not established here and must be verified from up-to-date STASIS materials.
Reserve transparency is also time-sensitive. An attestation or circulation figure dated 7 September 2026 describes that date, not every future day.
Blockchain and venue liquidity: the practical access question
MiCA authorization does not guarantee that a token is listed on your exchange, issued on your preferred chain or liquid enough for a large order. Check the official contract address, supported networks, deposit and withdrawal status, order-book depth and minimum transaction size before transferring funds.

Use a test transfer when the amount is material. Confirm that the receiving venue supports the same network; sending an Ethereum-compatible token over a different chain can strand the funds even when the symbol looks identical. Also distinguish native issuer tokens from wrapped or bridged versions, which add another layer of smart-contract and bridge risk.
EURe’s named-IBAN model can bypass exchange liquidity for bank cash-in and cash-out, while EURC’s direct route is centered on Circle Mint eligibility. For EURCV and EURS, current distribution, chain support and redemption access need to be checked for the exact venue and jurisdiction.
Choosing by use case
For a business seeking documented issuer redemption
Start with EURC if your organization can qualify for Circle Mint and you value an explicit standard-versus-Express fee schedule, 1:1 redemption language and monthly reserve attestations. Confirm bank settlement timing and any onboarding requirements before moving operating cash.
For recurring SEPA payments
EURe is the natural fit when the core requirement is a named euro IBAN that can mint and burn a wallet balance through SEPA. Model the blockchain gas and any exchange costs separately from the stated free SEPA transfers.
For an institution evaluating EURCV
Read the current white paper’s recovery provisions alongside the distribution agreement. Ask specifically when liquidity fees, daily limits or temporary suspension can be activated, and how reserve-composition changes are communicated.
For anyone considering EURS
Pause until current issuer and regulator documentation answers the authorization, reserve and redemption questions. A familiar ticker or old listing is not proof of current European availability.

- Identify the legal issuer. Record the exact entity name, country and authorization type.
- Open the current white paper. Check its publication date, token contract addresses, redemption rights, fees and recovery clauses.
- Check the regulator register. Confirm that the authorization is current and applies to the token or service you intend to use.
- Read the reserve disclosure. Look for asset type, custody or safeguarding, frequency of attestations and treatment during insolvency.
- Confirm your route. Determine whether you will use direct issuer redemption, a named IBAN, an exchange or a decentralized pool.
- Calculate all costs. Add issuer fees, gas, spread, trading commission, withdrawal fees and bank charges.
- Check operational limits. Review geography, KYC level, daily limits, minimums, settlement windows and temporary suspension language.
- Test with a small amount. Verify the network, address, mint or redemption flow and bank details before sending the full balance.
Common failure modes and fixes
The token trades below €1
Do not assume the issuer has broken its 1:1 promise. A secondary-market discount can reflect thin liquidity, a temporary imbalance, exchange risk or uncertainty about redemption access. Check whether you can redeem directly; if not, compare order-book depth and spreads across venues rather than using a market order blindly.

A redemption is delayed
Separate issuer processing from bank settlement. Confirm that the request passed compliance checks, that bank details are correct and that the receiving bank accepts the payment. “Near-instant” Express processing does not eliminate settlement time.
The exchange shows deposits disabled
Do not send funds on another network simply because the ticker matches. Wait for the venue to re-enable the supported network or use the issuer’s documented route.
You cannot open the direct account
Business or wholesale eligibility, residence, identity checks and banking relationships can limit access. Use only a venue whose legal terms permit your customer type; do not assume that a retail exchange sale has the same redemption protection as an issuer transaction.
A fee appears unexpectedly
Identify whether it is an issuer fee, gas, exchange commission, spread, bank charge or a recovery-condition fee. The EURC Express charge, for example, is distinct from a network fee and from any exchange withdrawal charge.
What the market snapshot can and cannot show
A Banque de France report cited EURC and EURCV as the two main euro-pegged stablecoins during its covered period, together representing 61% of euro-stablecoin market capitalization. That was a dated snapshot, not a current ranking as of October 2026. Market share can change quickly as issuance, redemptions, listings and liquidity move between tokens.
Bottom-line decision
Choose EURC when documented reserve attestations, explicit 1:1 redemption language and a published issuer fee schedule are your priorities and you can access Circle Mint. Choose EURe when named IBANs and SEPA cash-in/cash-out are more important than maximizing exchange liquidity. Treat EURCV as a token whose MiCA presentation must be read together with its conditional recovery provisions. Treat EURS as unverified until current STASIS and regulator documents establish its status, reserves and fees. In every case, confirm the latest white paper, authorization, contract address, venue support and all-in transaction cost immediately before sending funds.
