If Fell Curse is not going away in Enshrouded, use the dedicated Fell Curse Cleansing Tonic. The cure is tied to the automatically granted A Cure For The Fell Curse quest: speak with the Alchemist, collect 2 Fresh Shroud Spore above the Shroud at night near groups of Fell enemies, manually craft the tonic, and consume it from your inventory. The tonic removes the curse and grants Fell Curse Protection for one hour.
What Fell Curse does
Fell Curse is a specific ailment caused by an encounter with the Fell. The official quest description says it makes you suffocate much faster while inside the Shroud and can have long-term consequences for vitality until you find a cure. It is not simply a low-health condition and it is not removed by ordinary healing items.
The game automatically grants A Cure For The Fell Curse when your character becomes afflicted. That quest is the clearest way to confirm that the status you are seeing is actually Fell Curse rather than another Shroud-related effect.
Fell Curse versus other Shroud effects
Players often describe several different problems as a curse or an antidote problem. Check the status icon and the journal before collecting materials. The supported cure below applies specifically to Fell Curse.

This distinction matters because a correctly made tonic can remove Fell Curse while leaving an unrelated Shroud effect unchanged. A remaining icon is therefore not, by itself, proof that the tonic failed.
How to remove Fell Curse step by step
- Open the journal. Confirm that A Cure For The Fell Curse is active. The quest is automatically granted when the character is afflicted, so its presence is a useful status check.
- Speak with the Alchemist. The quest directs you to the Alchemist before you gather the required ingredient.
- Search at the correct time and place. Look above the Shroud at night, around groups of Fell enemies. The quest description says Fresh Shroud Spore is scattered among Fell foes; searching in unrelated areas or during the wrong conditions can leave you with no usable material.
- Collect two Fresh Shroud Spore. The published item recipe requires exactly two of these spores.
- Craft the tonic manually. Use the crafting interface to make Fell Curse Cleansing Tonic from the two Fresh Shroud Spore. Do not assume that picking up the ingredients completes the cure; the tonic must exist as an item.
- Consume the tonic from your inventory. Select the completed tonic and use it. The item reference states that it removes Fell Curse upon use.
- Check the result. Successful use also applies Fell Curse Protection for 1 hour. The protection duration is a game value shown by the item reference, not a general guarantee that all Shroud effects will disappear.
Finding Fresh Shroud Spore efficiently
Use the quest’s environmental conditions
The required material is not described as a generic Alchemy ingredient that can be gathered anywhere. The quest points to locations above the Shroud, nighttime conditions, and groups of Fell. Treat all three details as part of the search instructions:

- Travel to terrain above the Shroud rather than spending the entire search inside the Shroud itself.
- Search at night, when the relevant Fell activity is present.
- Check around groups of Fell enemies, where the quest says the spores are scattered.
Do not substitute another spore or healing item
The tonic recipe is tied to Fresh Shroud Spore. A generic healing consumable, a different crafting ingredient, or a status item intended for another ailment is not the documented cure. If the recipe is unavailable, return to the journal and Alchemist step rather than trying random consumables.

Plan the run around the Fell
Keen Games’ Thralls of Twilight update describes groups of the Fell roaming above the Shroud at night. That explains why the quest combines a time-of-day requirement with enemy groups. Prepare for an encounter before you begin the search, but keep the objective focused on obtaining the two Fresh Shroud Spore needed for one tonic.
Crafting and consuming the tonic correctly
The recipe

Manual crafting is a separate action
Having two spores in storage or in your character’s possession does not remove the status. Open the crafting interface, select Fell Curse Cleansing Tonic, and complete the craft. If the tonic is not visible, verify the ingredient name, the active quest, and the Alchemist interaction before treating the situation as a bug.
Use the finished item, not the ingredients
After crafting, open the inventory and activate the tonic itself. The documented effect occurs on use. Merely acquiring Fresh Shroud Spore, opening the recipe, or crafting without consuming the result cannot be counted as completing the cure.

Why the curse may appear to remain
You are looking at a different status
The most common interpretation problem is confusing Fell Curse with ordinary Shroud exposure, Shroud Fatigue, or another temporary debuff. Compare the exact status name with the journal. If A Cure For The Fell Curse is not active and the icon does not identify Fell Curse, the dedicated tonic is not established as the solution for that effect.
The tonic was never consumed
A completed recipe is not the same as an applied cure. Confirm that the tonic was selected from the inventory and used, rather than stored, dropped, or left in a crafting output. The item’s documented behavior is triggered upon use.
The wrong material or item was used
Check that the ingredient was Fresh Shroud Spore, that the quantity was two, and that the final item was Fell Curse Cleansing Tonic. Similar names or an ordinary healing item do not establish that the Fell ailment has been treated.

The game is displaying a separate effect
Protection from Fell Curse lasts for one hour, but that protection is not described as immunity to every Shroud mechanic. If the curse icon disappears while a different Shroud warning remains, compare the remaining effect’s name before repeating the recipe.
The status is genuinely stuck after correct use
The official quest and item references document the intended tonic cure, but they do not provide a reproducible workaround for a status that remains after the correct tonic has been consumed. Do not treat an unverified community suggestion as a guaranteed fix. Record the status name, quest state, the tonic used, and the apparent result, then check the current official hot-fix index or submit a bug report. Launch patches can change behavior, and the hot-fix index is the appropriate place to verify whether a known issue has been addressed.
A practical troubleshooting checklist
- Status check: Does the icon or description explicitly say Fell Curse?
- Quest check: Is A Cure For The Fell Curse in the journal?
- NPC check: Have you spoken with the Alchemist as the quest requests?
- Ingredient check: Did you obtain Fresh Shroud Spore above the Shroud at night near groups of Fell?
- Quantity check: Are there two Fresh Shroud Spore for the recipe?
- Craft check: Did you manually create Fell Curse Cleansing Tonic?
- Use check: Did you consume the finished tonic from the inventory?
- Result check: Did Fell Curse disappear and did the one-hour Fell Curse Protection effect appear?
- Support check: If every step is confirmed but the curse remains, consult the current official hot-fix information or report the issue rather than repeating unrelated consumables.
Preventing another Fell Curse
Review the world setting
Keen Games states in the Thralls of Twilight update that the chance for the curse feature to trigger can be adjusted or completely disabled in world settings. If you do not want future applications, inspect the world’s setting for the curse feature and choose the available configuration that matches your preference.

This setting controls future triggering; it is not presented as a replacement for the tonic on a character who is already afflicted. Treat an existing curse first, then change the setting if you want to prevent another application.

The same update describes groups of the Fell roaming above the Shroud at night. Those conditions are also the conditions used by the cure quest to locate Fresh Shroud Spore. When planning exploration, recognize that a night expedition above the Shroud can involve both the enemies associated with the curse and the material needed to remove it.
