Ronnie Vasishta was identified as eASIC’s CEO again in Intel’s 2018 acquisition material, after Patrick Little took over the role in October 2008. The available announcements document the leadership changes, but do not establish that Vasishta formally resigned or explain a resignation reason.
Why did the eASIC CEO resign?
The sources available do not include a formal resignation notice matching that wording, nor do they state a reason for a resignation. The headline is best understood as shorthand for a change in the CEO title, not as confirmation of a documented resignation date or cause.
How did eASIC’s leadership change?
| Date | CEO and leadership roles | What changed |
|---|---|---|
| August 10, 2005 | eASIC’s board appointed Ronnie Vasishta CEO. Founder Zvi Or-Bach remained president, chairman, and chief technology officer. EE Times | Vasishta became CEO as the company moved from technology development toward delivering products at scale. The report said customers were running eASIC logic through fabs. |
| October 13, 2008 | Patrick Little became CEO. Vasishta remained president and also took on chief operating officer duties. eASIC announcement republished by Design-Reuse | Little succeeded Vasishta as CEO, but Vasishta continued in senior operating leadership. |
| July 12, 2018 | Intel’s acquisition material identified Vasishta as eASIC CEO. Intel newsroom archive | The later identification supports that Vasishta had regained the CEO title by then; it does not, by itself, specify when or how the title changed back. |
Who replaced Ronnie Vasishta at eASIC?
Patrick Little replaced Vasishta as CEO in October 2008. Little joined eASIC from Xilinx, where he had been senior vice president of products and market development. The announcement described eASIC as a provider of zero mask-charge ASIC devices.
Vasishta did not leave the executive team as part of the announced transition: he remained president and assumed COO responsibilities. In a 2005 interview, as he discussed becoming CEO, Vasishta described leadership transitions as “a natural evolution of the company.” That comment concerned the earlier 2005 change and should not be read as an explanation for the later title changes.

What happened to eASIC after Patrick Little?
Intel announced its acquisition of eASIC in 2018 and placed the company within its programmable-chip strategy. Its acquisition material captioned Vasishta as eASIC CEO. That is evidence of his later title, but the cited material does not provide a full intervening leadership timeline or explain the circumstances of Little’s departure.
The business context also changed between the earlier announcements: eASIC’s 2005 leadership transition was framed around moving technology toward product delivery, while the 2008 announcement presented the company as a supplier of zero mask-charge ASIC devices. The sources do not provide figures that would support claims about revenue, market share, or company growth.
