Drew Allar was inactive for Pittsburgh’s Week 4 game against Cleveland on October 1, 2026. The Steelers’ official game-day report lists him among the inactives, and CBS Sports described the designation as a coach’s decision.
Why was Drew Allar inactive?
The Steelers’ Week 4 report confirms Allar was inactive, but it does not explain the coaching staff’s reasoning. CBS Sports’ October 1 report, citing Steelers.com reporter Teresa Varley, labeled the move a “coach’s decision” and described Allar as a healthy scratch. The available coverage does not identify a specific performance, development, or tactical reason.
How long has Allar been inactive?
Pittsburgh’s official Week 1 report also listed Allar as inactive. CBS Sports/RotoWire reported that the Week 4 designation was his fourth consecutive healthy scratch. That four-week characterization is attributed to the outlet; the team reports directly confirm his inactive status for Weeks 1 and 4.
Who was active at quarterback for Pittsburgh?
CBS Sports reported that Aaron Rodgers and Mason Rudolph were active against Cleveland, while Will Howard served as the emergency quarterback. The Steelers’ Week 4 inactive report identifies Howard as the third quarterback and includes Allar among the inactives.

Was Drew Allar inactive because of an injury?
The reports characterize his Week 4 status as a coach’s decision and a healthy scratch; they do not report an injury as the reason. The inactive listing alone does not provide a medical explanation.
