How many people can play Stardew Valley together?

How to start a new Stardew Valley co-op farm
One player must act as the host. The host creates or loads the farm and keeps the save that contains the shared world. Friends then connect to that host’s session.
- Have the host create a farm with cabins. Cabins provide spaces for additional players. If the host creates a new co-op farm, the cabins can be included as part of setup.
- Start the host’s game. The farm and its current world state live in the host’s save.
- Invite one to three friends through the game’s multiplayer connection options. The group cannot exceed four players in total.
- Have every participant join before beginning the day’s activities. Players can then divide work among farming, mining, fishing, foraging, festivals, and other shared goals.
- End the in-game day together. Every player must be in bed before the day can finish.
The host must be in-game for the group to play. If the host is unavailable, connected friends cannot independently continue that farm as a separate multiplayer session.
Can a single-player Stardew Valley save become a co-op farm?
Yes. ConcernedApe’s documentation says a single-player save can be converted to co-op by building cabins on the farm. After the cabins are available, other players can join that existing world, subject to the four-player limit and the host-session requirement.
Because the save already contains a farm, money balance, buildings, and story progress, the conversion does not create a blank world. New participants receive their own characters with separate inventories, skills, relationships, quests, and recipes while sharing the established farm and world state.
Is Iron Valley multiplayer or co-op?
Yes, according to a community discussion describing the game. That discussion identifies Iron Valley as a free, Stardew-inspired tabletop RPG and says it includes rules for co-op play. “D&D” is not a confirmed rules label for Iron Valley
The available description supports “Stardew-inspired tabletop RPG,” not an official Dungeons & Dragons product. If you want to use D&D character sheets, classes, or combat rules, that would be a house adaptation unless the current Iron Valley creator documentation explicitly supports it.
Four players is not a universal tabletop limit
Four is the documented Stardew Valley video-game maximum. It should not be presented as Iron Valley’s limit. The tabletop source cited for Iron Valley says co-op rules exist but does not publish a definitive number.
Tabletop co-op is not the same as online co-op

Choose Iron Valley when you want collaborative storytelling
Iron Valley is the relevant choice when the attraction is a Stardew-like setting interpreted through tabletop role-playing.
