The recovery from 2020 onward
Payments resumed at €2.20 in 2020 and increased every year through 2025. The sequence from 2021 to 2025 was €2.40, €2.60, €3.00, €3.30 and €3.60. That is five consecutive annual increases. From €1.60 in 2016 to €3.60 in 2025, the dividend gained €2.00 per share overall, although the path included the 2019 decline.

- Shareholders vote at the AGM. The AGM decides whether to approve the proposal. For FY2025, that vote took place on 13 May 2026.
- Eligible shareholders receive the distribution. Once approved, the dividend is paid to shareholders entitled to receive it. The company stated 19 May 2026 as the FY2025 payment date.
This distinction matters when reading financial statements or company presentations. A proposed figure can still change before the AGM, while an approved dividend is the corporate action shareholders can rely on for that financial year, subject to the ordinary operational processing of the payment.
Record and ex-dividend dates
The cited company materials identify the AGM date and the stated payment date but do not provide a separate record-date or ex-dividend-date schedule in the information available here. What is the next Heidelberg Materials dividend?

Heidelberg Materials separately describes share buybacks as complementary to its dividend policy. A buyback returns capital by reducing the number of shares outstanding rather than by paying cash on every share. Therefore, a complete shareholder-return assessment should consider both the cash dividend and any buyback program, including its size, timing and execution. The dividend figures in the table do not include buybacks.
How to interpret the 2025 payout ratio
The reported 28.8% payout ratio indicates that less than one-third of the 2025 adjusted profit attributable to shareholders was distributed as dividends under the company’s stated calculation. The remaining profit was not automatically “available cash”: businesses also need cash for capital expenditure, debt service, working capital, acquisitions, taxes and other commitments.
For comparison purposes, use the same definition of profit and the same period for every company. A payout ratio based on adjusted profit is not directly interchangeable with one based on statutory net income, free cash flow or earnings per share. If the denominator changes, the ratio can move even when the cash dividend does not.
- Coverage: a lower ratio can leave more earnings available for reinvestment or resilience, but it does not by itself prove that a dividend is safe.
- Cyclicality: construction-materials earnings can vary with construction activity, energy costs, input prices and economic conditions. A single strong year should not be treated as a permanent earnings run rate.
- Capital allocation: compare the dividend with debt reduction, investment and any buybacks to understand how total capital is being deployed.
- Currency: the declared amount is in euros. An investor’s home-currency result can differ because exchange rates change between declaration, payment and reinvestment.
When is the Heidelberg Materials dividend paid?
For the FY2025 dividend, the stated payment date was 19 May 2026, following approval at the 13 May 2026 AGM. The date applies to that approved distribution; it should not be assumed to be the recurring date for future years.

Broker processing can affect when cash becomes visible in an account. Intermediaries may apply their own settlement, withholding-tax and currency-conversion procedures. If the payment does not appear when expected, check the broker’s corporate-actions section and confirm that the account held an eligible position under the applicable entitlement rules.

Can US investors buy Heidelberg Materials ADRs?
Heidelberg Materials’ investor-relations FAQ says its ordinary shares are quoted on Xetra, part of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, and that the company has a sponsored OTC Level I ADR program for US-based investors.
An ADR can provide US-market access to an overseas issuer, but the practical terms depend on the specific program and intermediary. The available company information does not establish an ADR-to-ordinary-share ratio, current broker availability, commissions, custody charges, foreign-exchange costs or tax treatment. A US investor should confirm those details with the broker or depositary before trading.
Dividend cash received through an ADR may be affected by depositary fees, withholding taxes and currency conversion. The amount credited to a US account therefore may not equal €3.60 converted at a headline exchange rate. The broker’s corporate-action statement should show the gross amount, deductions and net payment.

The dividend history is useful, but it is only one part of an investment decision. A disciplined review can be organized around the following questions.
Is the growth pattern consistent?
Separate the recent five-year run of increases from the full record. The 2021–2025 sequence is consecutive growth, while 2019 demonstrates that the policy has previously been interrupted.

How much of earnings is being distributed?
Use the reported 28.8% 2025 payout ratio as a starting point, then check how the company defines adjusted profit and whether earnings are unusually high or low for the cycle. Do not compare percentages built on different accounting measures without adjusting your interpretation.
What is the yield at the purchase price?
Dividend yield depends on the share price at the time of calculation. The €3.60 per-share dividend is fixed for the approved distribution, but the percentage yield rises when the share price falls and declines when the share price rises. Without a specified share price and trading date, no single yield figure is meaningful.

Payment timing matters to investors who need income on a particular date. Use the confirmed payment date for the relevant year and verify future dates through official notices rather than assuming the same calendar week will recur.
Are there other forms of shareholder return?
Because the company identifies buybacks as complementary to dividends, examine both mechanisms when estimating total distributions. A buyback can alter the share count and per-share metrics even though it does not create a cash payment in every shareholder’s account.
Common mistakes about Heidelberg Materials dividends
- Calling the dividend “guaranteed.” Each year’s payment depends on a proposal and shareholder approval.
- Projecting €3.60 into 2027. €3.60 is the approved FY2025 amount; no FY2026 or 2027 amount has been published in the cited materials.
- Ignoring 2019. The €0.60 payment is essential context for judging consistency.
