Generally, yes: YouTube says live chat replay is on by default for stream archives, so chat usually appears alongside the archived broadcast as it did live. That is YouTube’s archive behavior, not a separate replay guarantee from Gyre. Replay can be disabled for an individual video, and editing the stream in YouTube’s video editor removes chat replay.

How chat replay works for a Gyre stream

Gyre describes sending prerecorded video to YouTube as a live broadcast using a stream key, with live chat available during the broadcast. Once YouTube archives that stream, YouTube’s normal live-chat replay behavior is the relevant baseline: the archive can show the chat synchronized with the video. Gyre’s reviewed information does not make a separate promise about preserving chat after the stream ends.

YouTube says chat replay is available on stream archives and is on by default for live streams. The creator can turn it off for an individual video in that video’s customization settings in YouTube Studio. YouTube Help: Moderate live chat explains the setting.

Why live chat replay might be missing

  • There is no archive: Check that YouTube created an archived video for the broadcast. Without an archive, there is no archived video on which to view chat replay.
  • Replay is disabled: In YouTube Studio, open the archived video’s customization settings and check whether Live chat replay is enabled. It can be switched off for that video. YouTube Help describes this control.
  • The archive was edited in YouTube’s video editor: YouTube says streams edited in its video editor will not have chat replay. YouTube Help: Learn about live chat covers this limitation.
  • The stream was marked Made for Kids: YouTube says live chat is off by default when a stream’s audience is set as Made for Kids. Check the audience setting if chat was unavailable during the broadcast. This differs from a replay setting, but can explain why there is no chat to replay. YouTube Help explains the default.

What to check in YouTube Studio

  1. Find the stream’s archive in YouTube Studio and confirm that an archived video exists.
  2. Open that video’s customization settings and verify that Live chat replay is enabled.
  3. Check whether the archive was edited in YouTube’s video editor; if it was, YouTube says chat replay will not be available.
  4. If you expected chat during the broadcast but none appears, check whether the stream audience was set as Made for Kids.

These checks address YouTube’s documented archive and chat settings. They do not establish a Gyre-specific retention guarantee.

Or let it run in the cloud

If you want prerecorded video to keep running as a YouTube live stream, StreamNeo runs the stream from the cloud: upload a video or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key, and go live. Nothing has to stay on at home; uploaded video streams as made up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot. StreamNeo automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. The first day is free with no card, and the monthly option is $9.99 per month. For replay itself, YouTube’s archive settings still determine whether chat replay is available.
