Yes. Datarails documents Google Sheets as a source for automated reports and dashboards, and on October 1, 2026, it announced a separate native Google Sheets integration. The setup and sync details published for the source-file workflow should not be assumed to describe the newer native integration.
What does the Google Sheets connection do?
Datarails’ support article describes importing a Google Sheet as a data source, then mapping the imported data to the Datarails database for reports and dashboards. Its October 1, 2026 announcement describes a native integration with custom columns that persist through data refreshes and global filters intended to show only authorized data in a sheet. Those are distinct descriptions: the announcement does not provide a complete setup guide for the native feature.

How do you set up the documented source-file workflow?
Datarails’ support article describes importing a Sheet by pasting its link or selecting a file through the File Name field. The data then appears on a version tab, where it can be reviewed and mapped to the database like another data source.
#1 Best Overall
The article’s text does not spell out every screen or action shown in its screenshots, so these steps are an outline rather than a complete click-by-click guide. For the newer native integration, Datarails’ announcement does not state the full setup flow or availability conditions.
How does syncing work?
For the documented source-file integration, Datarails says Filebox Settings can be configured to synchronize data only when it detects changes in the source Google Sheet. The support article says this option reduces database size and optimizes performance. It does not establish that the same setting or change-detection trigger applies to the native integration.
Rank #2
The October 1, 2026 announcement says custom columns persist through every data refresh, but does not state a refresh cadence or trigger. Confirm the current refresh behavior for the integration you plan to use with Datarails.
What happens to comments and custom columns?
- Source-file workflow: Datarails says comments are removed from the file before upload.
- Native integration: The launch announcement says custom columns persist through data refreshes. It does not give further details about column setup or other content retained from a sheet.
What security details should you verify?
Datarails’ announcement says global filters can be applied so that only authorized data appears in a given sheet. Its FinanceOS page also describes role-based permissions and governance controls, but those general product claims do not establish how each permission works specifically in the Google Sheets integration.
Datarails’ security and compliance support page links to downloadable documents but does not present their contents or current certification scope on the page. Before using sensitive finance data, ask Datarails for current security documentation and verify the controls, certification scope and audit period, retention, access model, and contractual commitments with your own security team.

Questions to ask before choosing a spreadsheet-connected finance platform
If you are comparing platforms, focus on the workflow and controls you need rather than assuming the integrations work alike:
Quick Recap
- Does the connection import source data, provide a native workspace, or both?
- What setup and mapping steps are required?
- What triggers a refresh, and how frequently does it run?
- How are comments and custom columns handled?
- Can access be filtered for each user or sheet, and what permissions apply?
- What current, integration-specific security documentation is available?
