Yes. For watch hours to count toward YouTube Partner Program (YPP) public-watch-hour eligibility, the livestream must be public, and its recording must remain available as a public video on demand (VOD). YouTube excludes private and unlisted videos, as well as livestreams that are unlisted, deleted, or not converted to VOD. A stream being public while live is not enough if its archive later fails those conditions.
Which 24/7 stream hours count toward YPP?
YouTube’s YPP eligibility guidance counts “Qualified watch hours gained from long-form videos you’ve set public.” It also excludes “Livestreams that are unlisted, deleted, or not converted to VOD (video on demand).” In practice, check both the stream’s visibility and what happens to its archive after the broadcast.

These rules concern the qualified watch-hour figure used for YPP eligibility, not necessarily every watch-time total shown elsewhere in Analytics. YouTube directs creators to check eligibility in the Earn area of YouTube Studio.
Does the stream need to stay public after it ends?
Yes, if you are relying on its hours for YPP eligibility. YouTube’s stated exclusions cover livestreams that are later unlisted, deleted, or not converted to VOD. Keep the archive public and available as a VOD rather than assuming that public visibility during the live broadcast is sufficient.

YouTube does not specify an exact processing delay for VOD conversion or for changes to a video’s privacy setting in the cited eligibility guidance. If an archive or its status is unclear, check the Earn area and YouTube’s current YPP eligibility guidance instead of assuming that a particular delay or edge case qualifies.
How many public watch hours are required?
As presented on YouTube’s official eligibility pages accessed on October 3, 2026, the standard long-form route to YPP requires 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 qualified watch hours in the last 12 months. The alternative route is 1,000 subscribers and 10 million qualified Shorts views in the last 90 days. Watch time from Shorts in the Shorts Feed does not count toward the 4,000-hour threshold.

YouTube also describes earlier access to selected features in eligible countries and regions. The eligibility guide lists 500 subscribers, three public uploads in the last 90 days, and either 3,000 qualified long-form watch hours in the last 365 days or 3 million Shorts views in the last 90 days. This earlier-access tier is distinct from the higher requirements for Watch Page Ads, Shorts Feed Ads, and YouTube Premium: 1,000 subscribers plus either 4,000 qualified long-form watch hours in the last 365 days or 10 million Shorts views in the last 90 days. YouTube’s pages retrieved on October 3, 2026 displayed these thresholds. Its YPP overview search result also indicated that changes were planned to start February 1, 2027; that future change was not in effect at the stated access date. Check the live official pages for the requirements in force when you apply.

Meeting the hours does not guarantee acceptance
Reaching a numerical threshold does not itself approve a channel for YPP. YouTube reviews each qualifying channel for compliance with its monetization policies. The channel’s eligibility status can also be affected if videos are made private or deleted during an application. Treat the Earn area in YouTube Studio as the relevant place to check qualified progress and application status; do not assume that a raw watch-time total elsewhere is the YPP count.
Will a 24/7 stream automatically earn enough hours?
No particular broadcast duration guarantees a specific number of qualified hours or YPP eligibility. The policy describes which content can contribute and the channel-level thresholds, but does not promise a watch-hour result for a stream of a given length. The stream must also meet the public-visibility and VOD conditions, and the channel remains subject to review.

Does the streaming setup change whether hours qualify?
The eligibility conditions concern the content’s public status and archive, not whether you keep the broadcast running from a home computer or a cloud service. A hosting service cannot make private, unlisted, deleted, or non-VOD content count as eligible public watch hours. Whichever setup you use, check that the YouTube livestream is public and that its archive remains public as a VOD.
