Yes, but only the eligible hours viewers actually watch can help. For an Indian educational channel, watch time from a public livestream may count toward YouTube Partner Program (YPP) eligibility when the stream is converted to and retained as a public video-on-demand (VOD). Running continuously does not guarantee viewers, enough qualifying hours, or monetization approval. A low-variation loop can also create channel-level monetization risks.
When 24/7 livestream hours count toward YPP
YouTube counts eligible watch hours from public long-form videos. Its exclusions include livestream hours from streams that are unlisted, deleted, or not converted to VOD. So if your goal is qualified public watch hours, make sure the stream’s replay is available as a public VOD and remains that way. See YouTube’s YPP overview and eligibility rules.
The schedule itself does not create watch time: only viewing does. A stream running for 24 hours can still produce little qualifying watch time if few people tune in or they leave quickly. YouTube also reviews a channel against its monetization policies; reaching a numerical threshold does not guarantee acceptance.
India’s YPP thresholds: early access versus ad revenue
YouTube’s India-localized guidance, accessed in 2026, sets out two distinct threshold tiers. These are eligibility requirements, not guarantees of approval, and other feature-specific and policy requirements apply.

These figures come from YouTube’s India-localized YPP earning guidance. Keep the distinction clear: qualifying for early access to some features is not the same as meeting the listed ad-revenue threshold.
Why a continuous stream can put monetization at risk
YouTube reviews channels for originality and authenticity. Its policy says content should not be “mass-produced, generic, repetitive, or manipulative,” and identifies repetitive content with low educational value or minimal variation as content that may not monetize. Reviewers may consider the videos contributing the largest share of a channel’s watch time, so a stream responsible for many of your hours merits particular care.

A 24/7 schedule is not, by itself, stated to be prohibited. The risk is a stream that mainly repeats the same material without meaningful educational value, variation, or clear authorship. YouTube’s policy says, “Be your original creation. If you borrow content from someone else, you need to change it significantly to make it your own.” Slides, lessons, music, clips, and other third-party material also need to comply with copyright and reused-content requirements. Review the current YouTube channel monetization policies.
- Make the channel’s authorship clear and provide lessons viewers can genuinely use.
- Build meaningful variation into the programming rather than relying on an unchanged loop.
- Check rights and permissions for borrowed music, footage, lessons, and other material.
- Consider the stream in the context of the whole channel: it should support, not undermine, the value and originality of your educational work.
How to tell whether it is helping your channel
Treat a continuous stream as a format to test, not a shortcut to the threshold. Compare a defined test period with a comparable baseline from your own channel, and include the time and effort needed to produce and moderate the stream.

- Confirm that the livestream replay is retained as a public VOD.
- In YouTube Analytics, track qualified public watch hours alongside unique viewers, average view duration, returning viewers, traffic sources, and subscriber gains.
- Compare those results with your existing public lessons and, where relevant, scheduled live classes or study sessions. Judge formats by audience retention and return behavior, educational usefulness, qualified hours, and production burden.
- Use the results to decide whether to continue, change the programming, or return to formats that better serve your viewers.
There is no established India-specific estimate for how much a 24/7 educational stream raises watch time. Your channel’s own analytics are the useful evidence for that decision.
Watch time and live ad revenue are different questions
Eligible monetized channels can enable pre-roll and display ads on live streams and choose automatic, scheduled, or manual mid-rolls. YouTube cautions that “Ad slots are not guaranteed to serve ads.” Its reported figure—an average uplift of over 20% in in-stream ad revenue per hour for channels using automatic live mid-rolls compared with channels that did not—covers 207 countries in January 2024.
