Dinghai: The Ocean Pillar requires a Windows 11 64-bit PC with 16 GB of memory and at least a Radeon 780M, GTX 1050 Ti, or GTX 1650-class GPU. The recommended tier doubles memory to 32 GB and moves to an RX 6700 XT, RTX 3060 Ti, or RTX 4060-class graphics card. Steam currently lists the game’s Steam Deck compatibility as Unknown, so there is no official Deck performance guarantee. You can still use a sensible 1280×800, low-settings profile with upscaling and a 30-FPS cap as a starting point, but those settings are an inference rather than a developer-tested benchmark.

Steam’s 2026 listing publishes two hardware tiers. Both require Windows 11 64-bit and recommend installing the game on an SSD. The tiers describe target hardware classes, not guaranteed frame rates, resolution, or graphics presets.

The official demo page repeats the same minimum and recommended specifications. Treat the minimum column as the floor for launching and playing, not as a promise of smooth play at high settings. The recommended column gives substantially more graphics and memory headroom for a steadier experience, especially in combat or visually busy areas.
How to read the minimum and recommended tiers
Processor and memory
A Ryzen 3 3100 or Core i3-10100 represents the published CPU baseline. Systems with a Ryzen 5 5600 or Core i5-12400 meet the recommended CPU tier and should have more room for background simulation and frame-time consistency. The memory difference is explicit: 16 GB is the minimum, while 32 GB is recommended. If your computer has 8 GB, it is below the published specification.

Close browsers, launchers, recording tools, and other heavy applications when testing a machine near the minimum. That does not change the game’s requirement, but it prevents other processes from consuming the limited memory available to the game.
Graphics cards
The minimum list includes the integrated Radeon 780M and older GTX 1050 Ti/GTX 1650 class cards. The recommended list moves to the RX 6700 XT, RTX 3060 Ti, or RTX 4060 class. Those are different performance categories, so a card that technically launches the game may still require Low settings, reduced resolution, and upscaling.
Compare your GPU model with the named classes rather than assuming that a newer product name automatically meets the recommendation. Laptop GPUs can also perform differently from desktop versions with similar names because of power limits and cooling.

Steam marks an SSD as recommended in both tiers. The listing does not provide an installation size or a measured loading-time comparison, so no precise capacity or speed claim can be made. Leave additional free space beyond the game’s installation footprint for updates and shader or operating-system activity.

Can Dinghai: The Ocean Pillar run on Steam Deck?
Steam currently labels the full game’s Steam Deck Compatibility as Unknown. The demo listing does not show a Valve compatibility badge either. Consequently, there is no official claim that the game is Verified, Playable, or Unsupported on Deck, and no published Deck frame-rate target.
Unknown is a status gap, not a performance result. It means Valve has not supplied a classification that you can use as a guarantee. No cited source publishes a Deck benchmark, battery estimate, tested Proton version, shader-compilation behavior, or measured frame-time data.
The profile below is therefore a practical starting point based on the PC requirements and graphics options, not a measured result. Expect to adjust it after observing frame pacing in an actual save and during combat.
Recommended starting settings for Steam Deck
Apply this baseline profile
- Set the game’s resolution to 1280×800, the Deck panel’s native 16:10 resolution.
- Choose the Low preset first. Move to Medium only if frame pacing remains stable during exploration and combat.
- Enable FSR or another upscaler offered by the game. SteamDB detects AMD FSR upscaling and frame-generation SDKs, as well as NVIDIA DLSS and frame-generation SDKs, in the demo configuration. The presence of an SDK does not guarantee that every mode is exposed or performs identically on Deck.
- Turn Motion Blur off and turn Depth of Field off while establishing a stable baseline. Both toggles were added to the demo in update v0.0.0.76.
- Set a 30-FPS cap first. Test 40 FPS only after checking that combat remains consistent; a higher cap is useful only if the game can sustain it without uneven frame times.
- Use a gamepad. The developer’s Steam guidance says, “The developers recommend playing this game with a controller.”
Change one setting at a time and replay the same demanding section. If frame delivery becomes uneven, return to the last stable setting rather than raising several options simultaneously. Because there is no official Deck target, consistency is a more defensible goal than chasing a particular number.

When to try Medium
Try Medium after Low has produced stable movement and combat at 1280×800. Keep the 30-FPS cap while testing. If the frame rate repeatedly falls below the cap, restore Low before disabling the upscaler or adding post-processing effects. The published requirements do not establish which individual quality settings are most expensive, so use observation rather than a presumed priority order.
When 40 FPS is realistic to test
A 40-FPS cap requires substantially shorter frame times than 30 FPS. Test it only after a full combat encounter and a traversal segment hold near 40 without repeated drops. If aiming, dodging, or melee timing feels inconsistent, 30 FPS is the safer profile. No source reports a Deck result at either cap.
Graphics technologies and the demo update
Upscaling and frame-generation support
The demo configuration identified by SteamDB includes AMD FSR upscaling and frame-generation SDKs, NVIDIA DLSS and frame-generation SDKs, NVIDIA Reflex, Unreal Engine, and full controller support. SDK detection describes technologies present in the configuration; it is not a guarantee that every feature is selectable on every GPU or through every compatibility layer.
On Steam Deck, start with the available FSR or other upscaler option. If a frame-generation switch is exposed, evaluate it carefully at a stable base frame rate: generated frames can change perceived smoothness but do not replace the underlying rendering work. The cited material does not provide a Deck-specific latency or image-quality measurement.

What update v0.0.0.76 changed
Official demo update v0.0.0.76 added Motion Blur and Depth of Field toggles, improved system stability, optimized combat involving swords, dual blades, and bows, and fixed the screen-resolution UI settings and adjustment logic. If a resolution control behaves incorrectly, make sure the demo is updated before troubleshooting the operating system or display.
Controller support and input setup
The developer recommends a controller, and SteamDB identifies full controller support in the demo configuration. Connect or enable the gamepad before launching so Steam can expose the correct input layout. If the game displays keyboard prompts after a controller is connected, open the Steam Input layout for the game, select a gamepad layout, and restart the title if the prompt does not refresh.
For a Deck, use the built-in controls first. A wired or Bluetooth gamepad is an alternative, but the available evidence does not identify a preferred model, button map, vibration behavior, or support differences between controller types. Do not infer those details from the general “full controller support” label.

Checking whether your PC meets the requirements
Windows and memory check
- Open Settings → System → About and verify that Windows is a 64-bit installation. The published operating-system requirement is Windows 11 64-bit.
- In the same page, check installed RAM. At least 16 GB meets the memory floor; 32 GB matches the recommended tier.
- Record the exact CPU and GPU model from Settings → System → About and Task Manager → Performance, then compare each model with the named requirement classes.
- In Task Manager → Performance → Disk, identify whether the library drive is an SSD. Steam recommends an SSD for both tiers.
How to interpret a mixed result
- Recommended GPU, 16 GB RAM: graphics capacity may be strong, but the system still falls short of the recommended memory tier.
- Minimum GPU, 32 GB RAM: extra memory does not turn a minimum-class GPU into a recommended one; begin with Low and use upscaling.
- Desktop meets the list, laptop does not: compare the exact laptop CPU/GPU and its power limit. Similar names do not establish equal performance.
- Windows 10 or 32-bit Windows: the listed operating-system requirement is Windows 11 64-bit, so the configuration is outside the published target.
Troubleshooting common problems
The game starts but stutters
Confirm that it is installed on an SSD, cap the frame rate at 30, use the Low preset, and enable the available upscaler. Close background applications and retest the same combat or traversal section. If stutter persists, keep settings conservative; no published source identifies a specific shader-cache or Proton fix.

The resolution does not apply
Update the demo to v0.0.0.76, which fixed screen-resolution UI settings and adjustment logic. Then set 1280×800 again and restart the game if the display does not change. Do not assume a resolution problem indicates a GPU failure.
Controls feel wrong or keyboard prompts remain
Connect the controller before launch, select a gamepad layout in Steam Input, and restart the game. The developer recommends controller play, and the demo configuration lists full controller support, but the available information does not document every button prompt or remapping option.
The Deck cannot hold the chosen cap
Return to Low, keep the upscaler enabled, disable Motion Blur and Depth of Field, and use 30 FPS. Test Medium or 40 FPS only after the lower profile is stable. Since no official Deck benchmark exists, treat observed frame pacing in your own play session as the deciding evidence.
What is and is not officially established
