Nashville’s latest confirmed move in the available official announcements was to assign goaltender Matt Murray to the Milwaukee Admirals on September 25, 2026. The Predators’ September 28 opening-night roster listed Juuse Saros and Justus Annunen as its goaltenders, but that roster snapshot does not establish whether Nashville made a later move. An October 3 recall has not been verified here, so its status and any reason for it remain unconfirmed.
What is confirmed about Matt Murray’s status?
Nashville announced on September 25, 2026, that it assigned Murray to Milwaukee, its American Hockey League affiliate. The team’s September 28 opening-night roster named Saros and Annunen as its two goaltenders and did not include Murray. These are dated records: the roster announcement describes the team at that time, not necessarily its status after September 28.
The official results available for this article did not surface an October 3 recall announcement. That absence is not proof that no recall occurred. Until an official transaction notice, NHL transaction record, or current game notes confirm a move, readers should treat the October 3 claim as unverified—not as a settled transaction. Nashville’s September 25 assignment is described in its official announcement; the roster snapshot appears in its September 28 roster announcement.
Has Nashville recalled Murray before?
Yes. On February 19, 2026, the Predators recalled Murray while Saros was competing for Finland at the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026. Nashville said Murray would join the team as a “Practice Goaltender.” The team announced his reassignment to Milwaukee on February 25, six days later. That precedent shows a documented temporary practice role; it does not explain or confirm an October recall.

The February 19 announcement also reported Murray’s 2025–26 Milwaukee line up to that date: 12 wins, 14 losses and two overtime losses, with a 2.86 goals-against average, a .904 save percentage and two shutouts in 29 games. It listed his career AHL record at that time as 77-50-14 with a 2.49 goals-against average. Those are historical figures published on February 19, 2026, not current-season statistics. Nashville’s dated notices document the recall and reassignment.
Who were Nashville’s listed goaltenders?
In its September 28, 2026 opening-night roster announcement, Nashville listed Saros and Annunen as its two goaltenders. That identifies the pair on the announced roster that day; it does not establish who would serve as backup in a later game or whether a subsequent transaction changed the group. The roster notice does not provide a confirmed October explanation involving an injury, a roster vacancy, or Murray’s role.

How should an October recall be verified?
A report that Murray was “summoned” does not by itself show whether he was recalled to dress for games, provide practice coverage, or fill a temporary roster need. To establish the transaction and its significance, look for a dated official notice or current game notes that identify:
- The transaction date: whether Nashville or the NHL recorded a recall on October 3.
- The stated reason: any roster or injury rationale expressly given by the team.
- Murray’s role: whether he is an active goaltender, backup, or practice goaltender.
- The roster change: which goaltender or position, if any, is affected.
- The move’s scope: whether the recall is described as emergency or temporary, or followed by a longer assignment.
Until such a record is available, there is no supported basis to assign a reason to a possible October move or to update Murray’s statistics as though he had joined Nashville.

What are Murray’s older Milwaukee statistics?
Nashville’s January 31, 2025 recall announcement reported that Murray had a 13-7-3 record, a 2.31 goals-against average, a .927 save percentage and one shutout in 26 Milwaukee appearances that season as of that date. This is a historical 2024–25 snapshot, not a current total. See the team’s January 31, 2025 announcement.
