A helicopter was reported leaving the Philadelphia 76ers’ practice complex in Camden, New Jersey, after training camp on September 29, 2026. Coverage described LeBron James as planning to split time between New York and Philadelphia, but the reports do not establish that he makes the trip frequently or every day.
What happened at 76ers practice?
During training camp on September 29, a helicopter departed the 76ers’ Camden, New Jersey, practice complex after practice. The Associated Press’ Dan Gelston, reporting for The Washington Post, described the aircraft as James’s. The Philadelphia Inquirer also reported the departure and said James planned to divide his time between New York and Philadelphia.
That establishes a reported departure and a broader travel plan—not a routine. The reports do not identify the operator or aircraft model, specify where in New York James would land, or document a recurring schedule.
Why is LeBron James with Philadelphia?
The 2026–27 season is James’s first with the 76ers. He announced the move on July 24, 2026, and said he hoped to help the team contend for a championship. In the Associated Press report, he said: “I believe I can help make the Philadelphia 76ers a championship team and I am so excited to energize a new fan base and start this incredible journey one last time.” The AP described the season as his 24th in the NBA.

What are fans criticizing, and what do safety concerns establish?
An October 3 report by The Blast described social-media criticism of James’s helicopter travel. Some reactions raised helicopter-safety concerns and invoked Kobe Bryant’s fatal 2020 crash; Patrick Beverley also commented on the travel. Those comments reflect reactions and opinions. They are not evidence that James’s reported flight was unsafe, and the coverage does not provide a safety assessment of that flight.
Is he commuting by helicopter every day?
The available reports do not establish daily or frequent helicopter trips. A single reported departure, alongside a plan to split time between two cities, is not enough to show how often James will travel this way during the season. Claims that he is making a regular or daily helicopter commute go beyond what those reports confirm.
